  1. Past hour
  2. A good example of a song you can learn to play in drop D that illustrates some of what I am talking about to use that droning D to good effect while concentrating on melody on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings is "The End" by the Doors.
  3. Username both does and does not check out.
  4. Ideally, and I think it would be fun- we could have like top 5 or whatever players from every school in America. So subpar to mid definitely fits in the spirit of this thread. 20 or so posts in my take is still that Texas has no names on the list. Some of this is really interesting in things like- oh Gabriel is a big loss right? Oh, Oklahoma shoved him out the door? If you weren’t plugged in your probably didn’t know that. If you are plugged in and saw Jackson Arnold sucking you might know it but not understand it- but there’s some subtleties that fans of the school might have more insight into than us.
  5. Hah! I would not have taken you for a comics girl. And yes, I think the times call for a slightly sillier or lighter version of comic book heroes than the Snyder “Greek Gods battling each other, humans behold in AWE.”
  6. Being popular gives you the benefit of the gallery backstop to keep you out of any real trouble.
  7. Damn, Rory. Another terrible tee shot. Looks like all the players have lost their blood sugar.
  8. I mean, was he? So they could get Stockton as a starter? I think you might be right but it doesn’t make any sense at all.
  9. I’ll take a stab. I need something to distract me from my wife’s driving. frank Solich, Bill Snyder, Mike Gundy, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, Mike Sherman…in drawing a blank on Kansas and Iowa State, I’ll take a stab that Missouri was Gary Pinkel, obligatory fuck Gary Barnett, and Baylor was either Guy Morris’s or Kevin Steele. I think Steele. And of course Leach replaced Spyke Dykes. of course Kansas at could be the Ron Prince era, and maybe Nebraska had already moved onto Pelini Piss Pants. im guessing I got at least 2/3 of that right.
  10. Fortunately, nobody was interested in me.
  11. I have an ex-coworker who got married to a Texan in California, then immediately accepted a position to head up an office in Brazil. A couple years later, he and his new Brazilian family look like they're doing really well.
  12. Shane Gillis is lumpy. He can be very funny, he can be very not funny. The awkward delivery style doesn't always help. The act the other night had its moments (the friend's wife as WNBA star in particular went hard) but he's no Ricky Gervais.
  13. sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. sometimes it rains.
  14. Dan Hicks has been terrible on the broadcast. Constant gaffes.
  15. Also this. Straight dudes don’t think about other dudes’ sexual preferences. We’re too busy thinking about chicks. Seriously, it occupies most non-work waking thoughts for most of your life (sports, hunting, fishing, and food occupy the rest of your brain). If you’re contemplating whether another dude is gay, it’s likely because you’re closeted and fantasizing. NTTAWWT. Be you, man. Just suck some dick already, Matt.
  16. This is a nice concise bit to share around the Interwebs with family and friends suffering from Cult-itis
  17. Gotterup’s putting looks like mine
  18. “Summer Long Balls” was one of Ray Wylie Hubbard’s best songs. I’m pretty sure I’m remembering that right.
  19. NC State is still blocking out punts.
  20. Lets me ask you this sir? Do you know who the HC was at Tech before him? Or can you name all the head coaches in the big 12 when he took over the program. Im guessing more than 90% of this board couldn't name half on a good day without google. But you know Mike Leach. He was an offensive innovator in the sport and had a huge personality. That might not have equaled wins. But the Leach tree is big and significant. His contribution to the game can't be denied. Love him or hate him, his was a name. Be it his contribution or his personality. He might not have been someone a Bluebliod would hire. But tech and ol miss put butts in the seats. And produced an entertaining product. And I really think that's the most we can ask from those kinda schools.
  21. Yeah, you're probably good. You get UT acceptance/CAP/PACE/decline in late January to mid February, depending on how on top of their shit they are (they got 90K apps this year, so they fell a bit behind and had to send out the "give us another few weeks notice" in late January). You accept CAP agreement and pref campus in early March, so the two events are disconnected. A few other interesting things about CAP. One, only around a third of the students who take CAP end up at Texas. I have done some digging around on why that is. Of course, some of it is that they don't hack it, but the majority of it is that the kid in question ends up at whatever campus they end up at, decides they like it there, whatever they are pursuing, etc, and decides to stay....which has been the UT System's goal all along. That won't be my kid, but it sounds like it ends up being a lot of them. The second is that I have heard a lot of rumors that CAP is about to be wound down and retired in the near future. Nothing concrete but that's out there on the breeze.
