Elvis started following Shane Gillis

Shane is funny. I like his comedy. Tires is funny and low budget. The gun stuff in the second season proves a lot of @Derka’s points. I also like Jim Jeffries and Bill Burr. I’m not a fan of Tom Segura. That’s just for reference.

I'm not going to directly engage in any of the other various arguments Derka is getting into here - and I have mixed opinions on all of it - but this is not true. Shane blew up then he got absorbed into the Rogan borg and I am very confident that I have that timeline correct. That said - he hasn't really needed Rogan for anything - and among Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe's crew Shane is the most marketable and enjoying the greatest PUBLIC commercial success of any of them including Joe and Tony (because Rogan obviously makes stupid money behind the scenes...). If anything Shane elevates their whole operation. Kind of like Adam Ray. He is an elite stand-up, his podcast produces a ton of funny clips, and he has this All-American, aw-shucks vibe to him that is non-threatening enough to get him gigs like hosting the ESPYs. All of his success - however - all of it - mainly stems from how killer he is on stage. You can like him or his comedy or not - but that is a fact.

I don't even know how to feel about this season. I feel like we somehow overachieved to start the season given the injuries and iffy offensive production. But, at this point we are trotting out a AAAA lineup on a consistent basis (not much Espada can do about that) and gonna be even worse now that Paredes is out for weeks. Not sure we have enough farm system depth to be able to plug the holes at the trade deadline at this point.

parades is headed back to houston tomorrow for an mri. he said he feels better but more pain than the last time. he's worried see you in 2026!

Just got home from tonight's sold out show at the Moody Theater. 2nd stop of his current standup tour that started in Houston last night. 3 warmup comics, who were all very funny, then a long, funny show from Mo. The DJs playing beforehand said they had big surprises in store, & I saw the stage set up for a band, but I didn't think too much of it. When Mo was done, he brought out Robert Glasper & his crew. They played for a while, including backing up Mo singing Minnie the Moocher and What a Wonderful World, before Mo brought out one more guest to play - Gary Clark, Jr. What an amazing and unexpected bonus on top of a bunch of great standup. Awesome night.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

We aren't getting Roseboroug. The staff is all in on Lee. I guess if Roseborough picked up the phone and said he wants in, I doubt the staff would turn him away. As for Cooper, he's a really good player, but he's a notch below Crowell. Crowell is elite elite. Cooper is very, very good. There's a difference. I'm not some hudl expert, but the difference in theirs is drastic. Not to mention Crowell has been on one side of the ball his entire career, as far as I know. Cooper played defense and offense. Coopers rushing yards from last season don't inspire a lot of confidence that he can cone in and be a bell cow, but who the fuck knows? -
16 fucking guys on the IL fuck me

I mean yeah he's leading by 4 strokes. And it's 6 strokes over the one guy who could miraculously challenge him - granted Rory has chased him down before - but that was a different Scottie. I don't see any way he doesn’t bag it tomorrow.

I smell bullshit -
I hope he's injured against us, but otherwise makes it though the season. And yeah, I have little faith in Napier. I also greedily want Florida to fail so we can land Guervil, but that's a luxury, but one I would like to stick to UF before they mess around and hire someone competent. Lagway is a big dude with a big Canon. I didn't realize he weighed that much, tho. That's...freakish if he can still use his speed. I have faith we can win in the Swamp, but that kid is a baller, no doubt. He just HAS to stay healthy.

you can only play the guys on the roster
-
Hmm. I don't know if I like Shane or not. Sometimes I find him funny but sometimes I want him to be way more funny than he is. Sorry Derks. I get playing a character and I definitely get understanding a guy on podcasts that you don't get to see on stage. My disclaimer is that my favorite comedian is Anthony Jeselnik and it isn't close, and that's backed by listening to 4-5 years of the JRVP podcast. It hits you or it doesn't. Also, for posterity, you can't prove an opinion. Sometimes you just gotta roll with the fact that other people don't share yours. 🤷♂️

you ok?

So that info regarding these companies being real estate related was from ChatGPT. I looked around online for info on them, found none. Went back to ChatGPT and the response was, oh yea, sorry, I was completely wrong about that. The info I gave you wasn’t remotely based on anything accurate. So there’s an example, I guess.

Today we went on a 6 hour boat tour of Kenai Fjords National Park. It was spectacular. We saw a group of 11 humpback whales feeding. And two groups of orcas.

Paredes is gonna be out for at least a month. I dread seeing the AAAA lineup we roll out against Woo tomorrow.

Our kid wanted to be in college band so it was a consideration for all of the schools we visited. Washington - had a great band program from what we saw, very much like Texas. Cal - not a great of a band program but obviously a very good school. The band is student run and not well financed. We didn't visit but we had a friend whose kid tried the Cal band and did not have a good experience. UTSA has a large band program if he ends up there. I can't comment on CU, Oregon, UCLA or UCSB. I did research by looking at YouTube videos and we visited a few band programs during campus visits.
