Texas Football 2025 - Careening Towards the Abyss
MuellerHorn replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Thursday - It’s time for some fight By Bobby Burton ** If you missed my score prediction yesterday, here it is: 56-0 Texas. Rarely, and I mean rarely, do I step out there with a prediction like this. Usually, I’m the one on the other side of the coin, urging caution. But something tells me the Horns are preparing to make mincemeat of the Bearkats. The Texas offense has played tight in every game this year. Every single one. It’s time to let loose. Maybe that looseness causes an early INT or fumble from Arch. But I’m going to be ok with that, so long as it shakes him out of his season-long slumber. It’s time for him to fight back, to show us what he’s really made of. It’s time for Arch to get his Mojo back. He needs to play on his toes not his heels; he needs to show confidence in himself and the players around him. This is the ideal game to do just that because Sam Houston State is worse than the Longhorns in every single way. ** When people ask if Arch is just not that good, it’s kind of easy to point out to the naysayers that he went 26-31 a year ago against Mississippi State. The only differences between this year and last are a) the experience around him and b) the expectations. Arch was asked merely to be the bus driver against Mississippi State. He did that as well as anyone could. Against Ohio State, San Jose State and even UTEP this season, he was asked at times to be the focal point. And that’s where he has fallen short. Is that because he’s pressing and not letting the game come to him? That’s some of it. He’s putting too much pressure on himself to be perfect on every play. But this also has to do with the experience around him. For example, I ask you, how many times last year did we see two receivers collide with one another, like we saw with Jack Endries and Ryan Niblett last week? And then there’s four new starters on the OL. ** Bottom line, I feel strongly that Arch is going to bounce back. I think that starts Saturday when he finally lets his guard down and just plays ball. -
9 years in a row, for the same team?!

WTF with blOU injury report... Venables likely trolling SEC No. 11 Oklahoma will be shorthanded up front, with 3 offensive linemen — Troy Everett, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor — listed as out for the showdown between the 3-0 teams who are playing their SEC opener. The Sooners also listed 4 offensive linemen as questionable for Saturday . -

Not trying to go full Satya, but there's a chance that our OL room has gone to shit. We've had some questionable recruiting takes/decisions and shit might be coming home to roost. -

Nice review, Clark appeared to be trying to hit a cut back instead of following his blockers. Falls in line with Sarks' "meat on the bone" comment. Have you looked at Simon, he appeared to have done a really good job. -

I thought it was funnier that they were self-reporting because the game is set in a time period where literal nazis and fascists are the enemy -

Keep calling fascists fascists and bigots bigots. Do not stop. -
I read somewhere and I tend to agree-- it's not JUST the politics driving this, but also AI and the way the business model has evolved away from television, that all of media is regressing and it will look less like the 2000's and more liek the 1400's and the Medici's where you've got like 3 or 4 powerful families (but, corporations) who control and pay for all the content creation and distribution. You'll have the alt-right one, the conservative one, the lesser conservative one and the liberal one. If you've been following The David Ellison Skydance stuff (nepo baby to 10 days ago world's richest man Larry, briefly overtaking Elon as Oracle's earnings gave the stock a pop) and the the Lachlan Murdoch succession drama of Fox properties, the die seems cast for the forseeable future... I'm like a lot of folks who posted that Jimmy Kimmel is not only not funny but actually annoys and grates me with his attempts at humor, so I don't watch. But this isn't about him or his show anymore, it's the principle(s) at play now. The media business was never not owned by corporations. You can actually argue that the internet disruption actually democratized terrestial media (e.g. streaming, YouTubers, Influencers and short form content creators) in a way that has hurt the legacy media machine. AI will likely hurt the Hollywood complex as well.

With regards to the bold part. It's clear the dude is pressing under pressure. Telling someone who is over thinking things to stop overthinking is not exactly helpful. They need to get some booze/weed and a few smoking hot escorts to get this dude to just relax. Perhaps them downplaying it publicly is intentional to stop making him feel like he has to live up to all these expectations. If he is truly playing well in practice and just shitting the bed when the stadium lights are on, they just need to loosen him up and call simple easy 1 read plays for him. Get him in a groove to get confidence and the rest should fall in place. -

There is a difference between a play being covered or the receiver falling down and then scrambling to make the best of it, versus not giving the play a chance to develop and just running. Anybody should be fine with the first, and generally not okay with the second. If Arch is doing the second, that is on Sark to adjust the offense to something he can execute.

Those would look great if they changed the number font, removed the script Wildcats and UA symbol, made them purple, and most of all, got rid of that hideous stripe.

Nothing will change as long as the people keep propping up the machine by producing and consuming.

Captainant replied to msbesq's topic in Cloak Room
Good lord, people are going NUTS and using Kirk's murder as a reason to take down anything they don't like. Even the new Indiana Jones DLC got caught up in it, because Indy was saying to a cat in Fascist Italy (1937 Italy, literally Fascist Party members) "you don't care much about these fascists do you?" https://thenerdstash.com/bethesda-under-fire-after-indiana-jones-fascist-promo-linked-to-charlie-kirk-shooting-i-think-ill-pass-on-the-next-elder-scrolls/ Fucking ridiculous that these conservative crybullies are getting mad at the character who loves nothing more than punching fascists in the face -
It's been long past that time. The Democrat party isn't interested.
