    • We're so back. And just like every year, college football sends us a lovely amuse bouche with Week Zero.

A note: there's some football product in mid-afternoon, but go for a walk and see your families instead. It's not worth it.

#17 Kansas State (-3) vs. #22 Iowa State @ Dublin, Ireland (12 ET / 11 CT ESPN): Let's begin with a ranked rivalry game from the shores of the Irish Sea. Last year's Aer Lingus Kickoff was a barnstormer that presaged the 2024 FSU Seminoles as one of college football's all-time wet farts and Georgia Tech as a surprising ACC contender.

This year the cornfed masses of Middle America descend on Dublin to watch two serious contenders for the Big XII title.

Matt Campbell has another strong Cylcones squad. Rocco Becht returns, though he loses his elite WR corps to the NFL. The defense should be nasty, and Jon Heacock is one of the best minds in college football.

Chris Kleiman thinks this is the year K-State can finally break through the 9-4 ceiling. Avery Johnson and Dylan Edwards are a great 1-2 punch for his offense, and their defense, especially the LBs led by Austin Romaine should be able to make Becht's life miserable.

Smart coaches, good players, this should be a fun start to the season. I'll tip K-State in a low scoring battle.

Fresno State @ Kansas (-12.5) (6:30 ET / 5:30 CT FOX): It's an alternate (and in some ways even more agricultural) Farmageddon in KU's mostly upgraded stadium. Love the wheat endzones.

KU has Jalon Daniels back with some fun weapons to play with - Emmanuel Henderson from Bama and Bryson Canty from Columbia were highly sought-after WRs and Daniel Hinshaw is much-hyped to have a breakout season with Devin Neal gone.

Matt Entz takes the reins in the Valley after Jeff Tedford stepped down, arriving from NDSU. As is tradition these days for coaching turnover, FSU flipped a quarter of its roster through the Portal and Kurt Warner's son EJ will be starting at QB. They will probably not be in good enough shape to handle a well-coached P4 team, but Leipold has dropped a season opener to South Dakota before. This is also the Bulldogs' last season in the MWC before they join the Zombie Pac-whatever.

Sam Houston State @ Western Kentucky (-10) (7 ET / 6 CT CBS): CUSA action! These are likely to be two of the top four teams in the conference, so it's a surprisingly important game in Bowling Green (famous for Mammoth Cave National Park, and being the home of Corvette production).

Stanford @ Hawaii (-2.5) (7:30 ET / 6:30 CT CBS): Is this a great game? No. Is it a G5 school in a beautiful location favored at home against a P4 with a really snooty fanbase? Yes. Enjoy the car crash.

    • I got curious about the totality of the class, versus just the contributors. I found some of the results in looking these guys up to be kind of fascinating. Below, by OTF rank:

    • I think this deserves its own thread for discussion for now and going into the future as I think this is the beginning of a trend.

Beyond the title, which is not inflated or bullshit. Texas Football by itself was responsible for over 204M in revenue and the next closest SEC school was sub 150M.

Football by itself operated with a 139M surplus.

      Absolutely fucking staggering numbers.

    • Figured it was time to take a look at why we are struggling running vs Georgia. There are many reasons. Sometimes we just aren't physical enough and don't block through the whistle. We turn guys loose too early allowing them to get back in the play. Sometimes the bunch sets don't help as they bring too many defenders close to the ball that wouldn't otherwise be there. However, most of the time it's just simply players losing 1v1 battles or just missing their assignment not Georgia stacking the box to take away the run like SOME posters like to believe.

Below we are running our signature OZ. GEORGIA IS IN NICKEL DESPITE US HAVING TWO TIGHT ENDS ON THE FIELD(12 personnel). This is where Sarkisian's stubbornness is bare ass naked for all to see. We should spread Georgia out an run on them like other teams do. But no we make the distance shorter for them to get to the LOZ. Some of you have heard me say you cannot beat Georgia by playing in a phone booth. This play is an example of that. At the snap Juan Davis(81) come across the formation to cut off backside pursuit freeing Helm up to climb to the backside LB. The line is dancing to left. Majors climbs to the second level to find work. That would make for a nice hole but Conner gets whipped immediately and Wisner has to move on. The edge would've looked pretty good but Golden runs right past the nickel. Wisner sees it, cuts it up, and just tries to get what he can.

      “Culture + Talent = Dangerous”

This school has always had the talent part down. Anyone who’s ever been to Austin understands why talented people kind of naturally want to be here. But now that we have a culture to match it, I mean, that’s just really, really bad news for every other team in the nation.

We are back to where we belong. Playing for all the marbles.

      The Blueprint is there.

      Now it’s time to execute.

Go out there and get one for your brother.

      Sincerely,

      CJ
