  1. Reason not to overreact by Looch 1. Sam Adams is still out there as an elite, nationally-recruited target. (He's picking Washington) 2. McLellan might decommit from OU - (Um...okay) 3. Zach Evans eliminated A&M but still responds to texts. (This is sad) 4. Signing Day is 5 months away. (We didn't get out-recruited we just ran out of time) 5. Jay Graham recruited Isaiah Spiller and Joshua Corbin (an Aggy legacy and a guy who hasn't played a down yet) 6. Positive momentum we're beginning to see from the Ags on the recruiting front. (Unranked TE who runs a 5.4 and avreage WR) 7. Jimbo Fisher - (I got nothing) 8. We didn't want most of OU's recruits. (RC Didn't Offer)

  3. How Bama, who gets to cherry pick 3*s and who uses an NFL style culling evaluation method, has done with 3*s (stealing this from elsewhere) Let's start with 2016 247 composite and work our way back since they have at least been 3 seasons in at this point. We'll look at non specialists 3 star players or below that went to Bama, ALL of them for the last several years. 2016 WR T.J. Simmons - Transferred out TE Miller Forristall - 6 catches in 3 seasons RB Josh Jacobs - Big hit, drafted 1st round DE Jamar King - 6 tackles in 3 seasons TE Irv Smith Jr - big hit, drafted 2nd round CB Aaron Robinson - Transferred out LB Shawn Jennings - Transferred out LB Joe Donald - No stats in 3 seasons - 2 out of 8 players turned into anything - 2015 DE Christian Bell - Transferred out DT Jonathan Taylor - Transferred out S Keaton Anderson - 21 tackles in 4 years (assuming special teamer) OT Matt Womack - Starter 1 season in 4 years - 1 out 4 players turned into anything - 2014 DE O.J. Smith - Transferred out TE Ty Flournoy-Smith - 5 catches in 2 seasons - 0 out of 2 players turned into anything - 2013 WR Raheem Falkins - Transferred out CB/S Eddie Jackson - Good player, 4th round pick OC Bradley Bozeman - 2 year starter, 6th round pick CB Jonathan Cook - Transferred out OT Brandon Hill - Transferred out ILB Walker Jones - 1 tackle in career QB Parker McLeod - Transferred out - 2 out of 7 players turned into anything - 2012 DE Dakota Ball - 13 tackles in 4 seasons CB Deion Belue - 2 year starter at CB, undrafted though TE Kurt Freitag - Kicked off/transferred QB Alec Morris - Transferred out DT Darren Lake - career backup OT Caleb Gulledge - Transferred out - 1 out of 6 players turned into anything - So over that most recent 5 year span, 6 out of 27 3 stars or below, who WEREN'T specialists, turned into anything at Bama. So again, my point stands, Saban isn't some kind of 3-star recruiting savant. Roughly 20% of the 3 stars really do anything at Bama most recently. It's not really different at a lot of other big power 5 recruiting prowess schools either. The point here is some ridiculous notion Saban has a great eye for the "lesser" (3-star) players than others, it's false. He very very much gets by on all the highly talented guys, not hitting on any sort of high rate on 3-stars.

  4. We need to go after McClellan hard. Can you imagine a Card-McClellan backfield in a couple of years? Card tries to hand off to McClellan but his hands are too small so he keeps dropping the ball and McClellan can't pick it up because he's had two knee replacements and can't bend over.

  11. Quest completed. It was an incredible morning. The 22-26” bass were hitting damn near every cast. At 5:30, I set a 15 minute timer to make sure I have time to shower before work. Next cast, I was working the spook and thought, that’s way more wake than this lure makes. This guy took it, 31”. Woooo! Not sure what the next quest is.

  12. Do what San Antonio did. Spend a couple million on a facility in Far East Austin that is equipped to receive the homeless and parter with local charities, church, community colleges and hospitals to provide these people a real chance to end their homelessness. Do this in concert with passing very strict anti panhandling, trespassing, vagrancy, loitering laws and allowed trained officers to routinely patrol popular locations where homeless gather and transport them to this new facility. Those with drug/alcohol problems or mental disorders will be put into a program (also located on site) while the others are monitored then moved into a halfway house type of situation and given food/clothing. Once they’ve hit the minimum required stay they can be placed into an optional vocational training program and put on a path to gain employment with a city/community partner and moved into an additional halfway house outside of the intake facility. Have a three strikes policy and then assign those that violate it real jail time as a deterrent for those who are picked up on their third time. This would give those that want a path out of homelessness a real chance to turn their lives around and remove the homeless by choice from our streets.

He’s sitting there holding a phone with no one on the other end, directing the photographer as he poses - “this is what someone smart and important looks like in pictures” Photographer: “whatever you say, sir.” /rolls eyes @Johnny Sack: “Donald Trump is smart and important. And frankly, he’s doing a great job.”

  15. A lot of interesting posts and thoughts. For sure the men, boys and women of that era are our Greatest Generation. My father was a senior in high school when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. If I remember correctly, all the boys in his class (except one. He had an illness of some kind) enlisted before graduation. It was a very small school in northeastTexas with ten or so boys in his class. He said when in basic training (not sure it was called that back then) he heard paratroopers were paid $10 more. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne and shipped to England after completing training. Dad didn't jump on D-Day but did jump in the Market Garden operation and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He didn't talk at all about the actual fighting or killing. Story he did tell was on his jump he landed in a tree and got tangled up. Dropped his knife trying to cut the lines. A buddy came by and cut him down. Shortly after they saw several German troops in the area. Can only imagine what happened. Only other thing I remember him saying was how damn cold it was. Hearing and reading the stories of the WW-II vets are most interesting and always makes me feel like I'm peeling onions. God bless them. btw. Dad died at 59yrs. Wish I had tried to learn more.

  26. Did anyone else watch this last night? Pretty incredible documentary on the 8th Air Force. The director used restored film footage culled from hundreds of hours of film that was shot to celebrate the Memphis Belle on finishing its 25 missions. The footage is absolutely incredible. The doc itself is pretty good, but nothing new for those who have read about WWII. One thing it really drove home was how dangerous the B-17 daylight bombing raids were in 1942-44. At one point during 1943, B-17 crews had about a 75% chance of getting killed. Another crazy fact: more Eight Air Force airmen died than all Marines in WWII.

  32. God damnit. My local liquor stores on facebook don't show up in my newsfeed. This was posted two days ago, apparently sold out that day. Fuck me, I've never seen Weller 12 on a shelf, and Eagle Rare has been tough to find too. The only time I've bought W12 in Tulsa was when I asked about it and the guy luckily had one in the back.

  33. This is so fun. All of their RBs would start at 90% of the other college programs. King is easily the best QB in Texas, but he won't be as good as whoever finally signs with A&M. Mizzou Georgia LSU will unleash SEC (our!) fury on tu. Just you wait! LSU, we'll hold your coat. Ever present Aggie circular reasoning about Jimbo. Jimbo is a brilliant recruiter, therefore all of his recruits are great because he recruited them thus Jimbo is a brilliant recruiter. It's part of the canon just like: Close losses to good teams are better than wins against other teams; Even though tu beat us, we beat Baylor by a bigger margin than they did, so we're actually the better team; We don't care about tu, but, goddamn it, we hate it when they say we're not their chief rival; and We're not afraid to play tu.

  37. mdleast and I went out last Thursday when they were playing the Royals. We sat 1st base side but got up in the 6th inning and made our way to the top of left field and circumnavigated the stadium sitting in different sections for each half inning just to take in the sights in this final year. Ended the 9th back down on the bottom level sitting behind lower left field. I'm really going to miss this stadium when it's gone. Just a great place to watch baseball, at least in the evening hours.
