  4. Definitely seemed like he skipped most of yesterday's shit show Just got done wading through the absolute shit-show that has been this week. Was out for vacation in early July and have been traveling for work since I got back. Unfortunately, I'll probably be underwater until about the La. Tech game, so my chiming in will be sporadic. So I guess to summarize, fuck you Carl Winslow's unlimited sock puppets, fuck you aggy. Machinator lacks the ability to feel empathy. Satya is a bitchass bitch. Sydney is illiterate. CTJ runs a slow 40 and tries to overcompensate for lack of penis size by relying too heavily on a thesaurus. Texifornia's posts are unbearably silver-spoon tinted, and he almost certainly sucks at marketing. HankScorpio is this site's best poster by 8,000%, and CasualEncounter had sex with my mom. Wait, what.

  6. If it makes you feel better, I've been following recruiting for years and I still have no idea how to judge HS players by their HUDL highlights. Everyone's talking about flexibility, vision, explosiveness, etc. and I'm just thinking "cool, he scored a TD he must be awesome."

  13. The actual easiest thing, to me, about analyzing players is discerning whether or not they have anything elite going on. It’s not the end of the world if a recruit doesn’t, but folks writing this stuff, or following it daily, tend to go to hyperbole rather quickly when discussing a recruit or commitment. Not all players have the best hands ever. Not every OL commitment has the best feet ever. But does someone have 80+ inch wing span at tackle or DE? Is the WR legitimately 6’5” or do they have a sub 4.15 shuttle? Is the CB putting people into the hospital in run support? Does the QB recruit have Vince Young’s alpha personality? I don’t need anything more than one thing that I, and everyone else, can point to indisputably and say about a player that makes him different. Given that, I’d say the key to Rondale Moore is that it’s hard to compare anybody to his change of direction + acceleration. Maybe that winds up being Bowman, but that’s not what I saw on film. I did see elite ball skills, above and beyond anything else, for Bowman. He looked like the Honey Badger, so put that fucker at NB and let him scare the shit out of OC’s when they call a pass play. To these points, my only issue with Hester is that I don’t see an elite skill or trait. Maybe he’s got one I’m missing, but I understand why OU would pursue Trajan Bridges instead. That doesn’t mean Hester can’t play and be a very productive WR in Herman’s offense. Marcus Washington doesn’t have an elite skill or trait, of which we’re aware at least. He was still someone everyone was excited about, and there’s more there on film, sure. But nothing elite. Anyway, apparently he was whipping ass this summer with Ehlinger in the passing competitions. Guys like Kwame Cavil have a place in this offense. There was nothing elite about that dude whatsoever, except, it turns out, his toughness. He was just fucking nastier than any DB lining up to cover him and he carried the offense in the passing game in 1999. I hope Hester isn’t just a depth guy. I hope they’re seeing something in him that has them excited. Otherwise, I don’t get it. Problem is, Mehringer is a proven dunce. Meekins hasn’t amazed anybody. So it’s a leap of faith that this board seems unwilling to take right now.

  23. A slot receiver typically cannot be jammed at the LOS because he's lined up a yard deeper. If Duvernay's game is still speed, having him in the slot changes a ton about how a defense would have to align. Putting him in motion would force someone to go with him or tell the QB where the zones are. After the snap, he's largely free to run unimpeded on whatever his route is without fighting past an "in your face" defender. Devin in the slot is a luxury for a fully effective offense. It presupposes Sam will have time to let the routes develop. When that happens, he can pull a defense apart by sending the secondary deeper than what they can cover - thus creating holes all over the field for other receivers. When Texas did not have the talent to pass block effectively, Duvernay was a wasted position since the defense knew he wasn't going to have the play time to get deep. LJH was a much better option to catch passes in traffic near the LOS. Keeping a defense that close to the line also prevented Texas from having 40+ yard scoring plays. If the defense knows they have to be ready to defend a 50+ yard pass, they'll be stretched enough that Ingram or Whittington can run through and around them.

We’ll also be serving bbq at dinner, but the menu was really designed to offer east-enders dishes that are not available anywhere else on the island.
