  2. There are a lot of easy reasons to despise Chuckles. He shit all over the program. Like, he was terrifuckingbad. It’s a program we follow almost as a religion. That was bad enough. He also plead with media friends like Herbstreit that he wasn’t being treated right at Texas and that led to a bunch of attempted public shaming. He had a S&C program that produced nothing. He developed players for shit. He was the Other Man named in a divorce filing. He hired Shawn Watson. He stuck with Shawn Watson. He failed to address the immediacy of finding a QB. He ignored various positions in recruiting. He pulled a stunt with USF that hurt Texas. Fuck him for all of that and for wasting 3 years of our life. The bigger thing I despise, though, and it makes rooting against Charley all the more satisfying, is the sanctimony thrown at us for wanting him out, and early when it was fucking clear to us, the flearidden, unwashed societal know-nothings of the boards. That’s where @hayden_horn and @Thujone and so many like them came back time and again to mock, cajole, or threaten with veiled hints of our motives somehow appearing to be tied to racism. So fuck those guys and the media talking heads that they fucking parroted. And fuck the “shucks guys, I just don’t really understand your animosity about this. what did sweet Charles ever do to you?”. That’s the move now. Play stupid and attempt to subtlely condescend the boards in the same old fucking way, masked as a new way.

  4. We have a President who has no moral compass. He sees all of the bad in the world, whether it’s Putin, Jong-un, or the crooked actions of US politicians as acceptable behavior. He pursues and cares only about his own power, fame and fortune. He is one of the most despicable people on the planet. There are many people like him, but they aren’t the President of the United States. That is what makes this whole situation unbearable. Most of the country, including me, didn’t know much about this guy before he ran for President. He was just a “name” to many of us. Some knew from the beginning he was evil. Many figured it out during the campaign. Everyone should have figured it out by now. There really is no excuse for anyone’s continued support for him other than willful disregard for what is right and fair in this world. Now we are finding out there are millions of those folks too.

  10. Not me. He fielded an embarrassment of a product. He also fucked us deliberately and in bad faith with his USF contract. Then there was that cake is baked bullshit. Texas has a long history and a lot of coaches. He is our worst. I don’t get why you’re confused by the animosity. I don’t understand the people who have good feelings about Strong. Same ones who perpetuated the “he’s a good man” bullshit. What evidence is there that he’s a good man? He lied about Wickline. He is married but was fucking a boosters wife who was buying him expensive gifts. When his teams suck as they inevitably will he throws his assistants under the bus. Fuck him and his sub 90 IQ.

  11. Jesus, I thought ambulance chasers were better writers than this. Your creative capabilities apparently end with MS Paint, because this is a weak and banal attempt of a retort using the written word. Look, I know you get upset when your bullshit is called into account, but you don't get to devolve into the well-worn BBS maneuvers of lying on a new thread and eschewing context to suit your narrative. 1) You have never not been a Chuckles apologist. You lost your shit at the hint of misalignment with the guy on Shaggy back in the day. Referencing hordes and toadies shouldn't seem like a strong concept to someone that has participated in them and with them on the boards for years when it suits their narrative. Defending this wonderful man of a coach was one of those scenarios. 2) Anyone with an IQ above 80 would clearly understand the 3 years of life reference being relevant only to cheering on Texas. I assume this kind of non sequitur semantics tangling works with some dipshit during a deposition, but you don't do well with it here. You knew what I was referencing, as well as the rest of the board. I went with facts and called you out for what you are, so I get it, you didn't have much to work with, so fucking forget reading comprehension, right? Right. Beyond all of that, I'm not a bully. I know it feels like that to you because every time you attempt a take on football or recruiting that deviates from a dick drawing, I call out that weak, uninformed shit of a take you've posted. That's not bullying, that's just your pride, fucking with you. I get it, you didn't play, you don't do much when watching it but follow the ball, and you drive-by the recruiting board once a month, so really, it's not your fault. That said, don't take offense when it's thrown in your face as you feign knowledge beyond the novice. The rest of your post is the same condescension I referenced, and the board gets it. You threw out lazy internet smack tropes - calling me a loser, stating that I live with my parents, presenting that I don't make money, stating that I'm unsuccessful, and offering that I need Internet friends to make myself feel good. Blah blah blah. You forgot to throw out the concept that I've never been laid. Meh. You just basically said that the board waits for my take, and then they follow it. Um, no. I get mocked regularly by guys here with better smack than you. And I'm wrong a lot, so the mocking could just be easy. But you'd have to actually know football and/or recruiting to get it, so that's why the discussions within the packs here are odd to you when they're not just applauding your funny MS Paint stuff. Recruiting involves evaluation, aquisition, and roster management. Roster management entails understanding attrition risk, position count, and player development. You assume a ranking sorts all of that neatly, and it doesn't. A ranking, of which Strong was just okay and counter to your original point, consists of the acquisition aspect and that's about it. Strong was a mediocre recruiter. He recruited at the one place with every single recruiting advantage in the country, and he was lackluster at it on the ratings side compared his predecessor and successor, and terrible at it on the other two fronts. There were plenty of us at the time concerned about elements of what we were seeing. Discussing the recruiting topic beyond that with you isn't worth the time or the energy. You aren't worth the fucking bullet.

  14. He took 25M from us, shat all over himself then proceeded to wipe his retarded feces all over DKR. He then went to fuck us over by signing a back loaded contract with USF just to maximize how much we had to pay out. He also hired and retained Shawn Motherfucking Watson. His recruiting was also way overrated. He signed every malcontent and culture misfit he could find that helped inflate his ratings. Fuck him. My rage is perfectly justified.

  19. My goodness, can't believe there's still Strong defenders here. He was a garbage coach, the worst in the program's history, and failed to turn in even a single winning season. He collected $25M for going 16-21 in 3 years which culminated in a humiliating defeat to Kansas. He deserves to be mocked and jeered mercilessly for the trash product he fielded week in, week out.

  24. Sometimes I can’t believe this place. The team just extended it’s record for wins in a season while at the same time securing at least a tie for the best record in the regular season. HFA throughout the playoffs is secured. Our ace accomplished career and season milestones while notching his 21st win. Last night was glorious. The team has met or exceeded every team and individual goal for the regular season. They are perfectly positioned for another run at the championship. Fans can not justifiably ask for more. And still, there are people finding some reason to “show concern” or point out “room for improvement.” GTFO you miserable SOBs.

  27. Ah cool, I'm 33... shit, about to turn 34, and hit bottom 18 days after my 30th birthday. Hey cool, I'm going to turn 4. Don't worry about the religious thing. It's not about "god". The important thing is that you are not the higher power. You are not in control, and not only that, but it is ok and good that you are not in control. You can control the things you can control, you cannot control the things that you cannot control, and that is fine. There's no use in worrying about the things you can't control, and the nice thing is that if you just focus on those things that you can control and you try and do the best and right thing with all of those things, it's going to be OK. That's my higher power - I don't want to invoke "karma" but there is a wind that we're all floating on and generally, broadly, on average, etc, things work out OK to even great (and at least far better than otherwise) if you cede control of the things that you don't control in the first place and and try to do the right things. One thing that scared the shit out of me when I was getting sober - the idea that the rest of my life would just be a big slog of "staying sober" and then I'd die. I would be forever occupied with talking about not drinking and doing things that are centered around not drinking and having not drinking friends and my hobby would be not drinking and staying in my house if I wasn't going somewhere for the express purpose of not having a drink. That has not been the case for me. There was a lot of it up front, and I needed a lot of support early on and I'm glad that I wasn't out there on my own. But my life isn't consumed by not drinking - catching up here and writing this is the first "I'm an alcoholic" thinking I've done today. I go to meetings when I get the urge. I should go more often because I enjoy it. But it's not Jonestown. You mentioned booze opening you up and being the catalyst that gets you into more interesting shit. I resemble that remark. First time I actually got drunk it was like an epiphany - all the shit that kept me wound up so tight went away, I was funny and interesting, I was in the middle of the party and having a good time. You'll hear people (in here, but anywhere where alcoholics talk) talking about being comfortable in their own skin. It is extraordinarily common for alcoholics to never have felt comfortable in their own skin until they drank. Which is one more thing that makes it difficult to stop. The alcoholic is fucked up, they find the thing that stops them from being fucked up, and then that thing eventually destroys their life. And even if they can get past all of the problems with the physical addiction and get into a rhythm that interrupts longstanding habits, they're still fucked up and aren't the super cool non fucked up guy that they became when they started drinking. Which is why there is this whole program thing where in addition to resources and support and regular activities, they try and teach you how to rewire your thinking (which can seem scary and cultish and blah blah blah). All that stuff I talked about when I was addressing the higher power thing. It's to help unfuck the thing that was causing you to be fucked up in the first place. My life is probably fairly mundane on paper at this point, but that's somewhat by design. When I really crawled into the bottle to die (after being an alcoholic for a decade) I had just done the warped tour for a summer and a couple of smaller tours and a pretty big tour. When I was coming out, I wanted to build a normal but successful life. I wanted to own a home, be in a relationship, and get promotions/do interesting work shit (all the stuff that i always wanted but were at odds with the other stuff that I wanted). I have done all of those things. I'm married, have a nice home, am about to be on my 5th job title since the bottom (doing shit that's interesting, being challenged, carrying some degree of importance in the organization, etc). If I had wanted to go pursue creative stuff, learning how to get to that place of confidence and serenity without leaning on alcohol would have helped me there as well. I fully and entirely understand the idea that without booze, you're not going to be the great awesome person that booze allowed you to be in the window of time when it was working for you. The fact of the matter is that the whole deal with recovery is that it allows you to become that person minus the booze. That might sound corny, but it's not hyperbole - the shit that alcohol used to do for you, dropping away the feelings and insecurities that held you back, you don't need alcohol to accomplish that. But you do need to accomplish that, and that's the whole thing. Stay safe buddy.

  28. I can’t speak for anyone else. I don’t hate Charlie. I’m not the sort to bear grudges against individuals. But this is a site where we mock those who stand in the way, or even seek or wish to do so, of Texas. We mock people because they look funny, go to A&M, fumble a ball in a game, or any number of other reasons. Strong has so many and so clear examples in his past of standing in the way of Texas Football success that it would be the greatest of curiosities were there no ongoing conversation in standard surly fashion. Whether through incompetence, cosmically unbelievably (literally) bad luck, or whatever, he failed to fix what was his job to fix. And he broke what it was his job not to break. And he has the temerity to continue to draw a massive unneeded and undeserved paycheck. Bob Knight refused his pay one year when he felt his work wasn’t up to par. Not that I’d expect Charlie to do it. No, he is getting exactly what he signed on for, including here. If it puzzles you, you aren’t thinking clearly enough.

  31. It's come to this. The President of the United States is implying a death penalty for a sitting US Congressman, while a whistleblower is hidden in federal custody to protect their life. If you are a congressional member of the GOP, and you just shrug your shoulders, you have no business holding the office you occupy. If you are a voter who supports this, then you should have your voting rights taken away.

  36. I'm agnostic. I've been sober for over 6 years and I haven't prayed once. And I went to AA daily or twice daily during that first year. I still go to meetings from time to time, not because I'm afraid I'll drink if I don't. I go because they're fun. I wouldn't have believed it, either, but it's true. And I go because I can be useful to others. And the "higher power" doesn't have to be "God." Let the group itself be your higher power. There doesn't have to be anything supernatural about it. Just admit that you need help, ask for it, and accept it. Who cares if they pray and you don't? Most of them will readily admit that prayer is only one tool in their toolbox. So substitute meditation for prayer in your own toolbox and get on with the rest of it. It only takes a couple of tweaks to change the standard 12 steps into the agnostic 12 steps below. That's important. http://www.aaagnostics.org/agnostic12steps.html If "the God stuff" is what's keeping you from going to AA, then, frankly, that's not a very good reason when your life is on the line. Don't assume too much. Just go and listen. If you find that group to be too preachy for your liking, then go to a different group. There are agnostic meetings in Austin and probably everywhere else. I promise you that if you make an honest effort, you will find a group that can help you get out of this mess.

I thought we were about to run into the seedy side of town with strip clubs and dildo shops, but luckily an aggy saw our dilemma and steered us toward the beautiful ATT Stadium. We paid the $60 dollar parking fee and walked the 3 mile walk to the stadium. The aggy stayed with us all the way to make sure we did not have a heat stroke. When we got to the stadium the aggy pointed me to a tailgate where our whole family got a chance to "Whoop" and "Pig Sooey" among new friends. aggy has the greatest fans in the whole world.
