  1. Obama will never stop been black, and Trump will never stop white. It starts and ends there. There could be some more salient points to make but in actuality none of that matters. The GOP and it’s cultists are a lost cause, with their defining character traits being cognitive dissonance and the willingness to watch the country burn to own the libs. It’s why they don’t post in this forum in any kind of meaningful/thoughtful manner. They have no argument, just conspiracy theories and talking points from Fox News. May they all live long enough to see a socialist, multiracial, transsexual President that takes their guns and money.

  4. well, we're way past big-speech time. i'll just say this. here on surly, we're a group. we're a team. from scraps and putt on through, we're a team. we win together. we lose together. we celebrate and mourn together. and defeats are softened and victories sweeter because we did them together. you're my guys. and i'm yours. and there's nothing i wouldn't do for you. it's never easy. it wasn't easy vs the knicks. it wasn't easy vs usc. it wasn't easy vs the dodgers. it's supposed to be hard. if it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. the hard is what makes it great. let's fucking do this. #dreamcrushers #truckerhatmafia

  9. 2017: 9-4 2018: 10-3 (should have been 11-2 if not for the aggy theft) 2019: 8-0 He's shown steady improvement year by year, he's shown a willingness to adapt his philosophy/staff, his players adore him, and he has a monster recruiting class coming in...but hey, let's downplay what he's accomplished because he talks funny. It's amazing how arrogant and oblivious some of you guys are. Newsflash, we've been a dumpster fire for a greater part of a decade, maybe humble yourself a bit. We'd trade places with the state of their program in a heartbeat.

  10. For some deranged reason, Texas Highways magazine has decided to give me ---- Traces of Texas ---- a monthly Texas history column. I'm crazy excited to do it as I've always loved the magazine. In honor of this auspicious event, they're giving my readers a deeply discounted subscription offer and I thought I'd pass it on to y'all, too: $17.50 for one year and $29.50 for two years. You have to use this link. The offer expires Nov. 3: https://ssl.drgnetwork.com/ecom/THM/app/live/subscriptions?org=THM&publ=TH&key_code=JXTOTX&type=S&gift_key=J5FXGFT&fbclid=IwAR1hYa8SNahPZ5tk9nB1booXjZku5nrwBogh62UM53G3zcxZk7UHodDuXRE As you can imagine, I'm beyond happy to be collaborating with Texas Highways, being that I've been a reader for 45 years. I'll be getting the inside back cover of each issue. The first issue with my Vintage article is the November issue and it was just published. I posted the photo/article below. As you can see, this is a photo that reader Cecilia Thompson sent in to me. I was very, very happy that she shared it and allowed Texas HIghways to publish it because it's so utterly classic in every way. These kids in Dallas have a true "Dennis the Menace" quality and you just KNOW there's a slingshot in the back pocket of at least one of them. Those cane poles, the cans of worms ... too much. Anyway, for a year's worth of great information about what to do in Texas, where to go, all kinds of great info etc... it seems like a pretty good deal to me. I'm thrilled to be able to collaborate with the great folks at TxDot who put out the magazine. Also, if you have a great Texas history photo and you'd like to see it published, please send it to me at this email address: tracesoftxphotos@gmail.com Please include as much relevant information as you can think of.

  11. Even if it was a guy a with political motivations--if he hated Trump as much as I do--everything in his complaint HAS BEEN CORROBORATED. That aside, that article is pure speculation and speculation on speculation. That's probably not the guy. Meanwhile, his life is now in serious danger. I'm going to spend the rest of my life working against every fucking Republican I can. Starting next Tuesday here in Virginia. Kill this party. Traitors. Fuck them.

  19. Corporations used the tax breaks Trump gave to buyback record amounts of stock, not pay their employees more. Shocking https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2018/11/12/business/economy/trumps-tax-cut-was-supposed-to-change-corporate-behavior-heres-what-happened.amp.html This will only delay an inevitable recession according to most economists. That’s as much as I can dumb it down. It’s more complicated but this is a key part of why it’s humming now. Put another way, say you’re gonna crash from no sleep. Everyone says you need sleep - you hitting a line of blow doesn’t fix shit...in the long term. But it sure as hell delays the impending crash.

  21. OK. I'll say this: a year ago, 98% of the college football world doubted Orgeron would be LSU's coach in three years. LSU is currently two-thirds of the way through a schedule that still has Alabama, potentially the SEC championship game, and an NY6 bowl/playoff game to go. Oregeron failed at Ole Miss and couldn't impress USC, which never met an incestuous internal promotion it didn't like, enough to keep him. This sudden desire to crown Orgeron as the paramount example of coaching acumen baffles me. I think it boils down to two things: he's Not Herman in his willingness to make a big obvious change (offensive approach), and he's Not Herman because he's 8-0 this year. Otherwise, maybe tap the brakes. LSU could still finish with two losses this year. Or they could win the national championship and then go 8-5 next year a la Gene Chizik at Auburn. I'm personally still skeptical Orgeron has solved any more than one side of the college football coaching Rubik's cube.

  29. Totally unrelated to anything in here, but there’s really no where else to post it, and I wanted to share this with some folks who love Liverpool F.C. My wife & I were in England last month for two weeks. We took the train from Euston Sta. to Liverpool. We had only been in Liverpool about 1 hour, before taking the city bus to Anfield. Got there in about 15 minutes from the station near Albert Docks, but due to the lateness of the day, we were unable to make a tour. We paid to go through the Anfield Museum (I think £15 each). Lots of memorabilia there, and the Gerrard exhibit was amazing. Of course, my wife took a pic of yours truly, standing in front of all six Big Ears. Afterwards, I got to walk completely around Anfield, thinking of the greats who had played there, and the crowds who witnessed football the way it’s meant to be played. it was an amazing trip to truly one of the greatest venues in the world. I hope to go back one day, sit in the Kop, and sing YNWA with the Anfield choir.

  34. after spending years working for a boss who has a similar npd way about him, it's amazing the similarities when it comes to lies and exaggerations. i saw with my own eyes how events transpired, and was there minutes later, when he first told someone else about it, and it wasn't that far off-base, maybe shaded a little to make himself look or feel better. then the 2nd or 3rd time he'd tell it, he'd leave out certain details, or round up about what might be a better version of how he came off in the story. eventually, he would come up with a complete fabrication that was his favorite, and one that he thought sounded best. then it wasn't ever about remembering the actual incident, it was about remembering the best possible version that he had told, and stiffening the details of that version to make it sound more accurate. eventually, he couldn't tell the difference anymore. you can see when trump tries out his material, eventually, he finds a version he likes the most that he and his minions can run with. then he stiffens it to the point where it doesn't even match something he said days earlier. but he doesn't remember that, nor does he care. and neither does his 40%.

  35. I’m shocked that Frost’s walk on program isn’t as successful as the template he’s attempting to emulate, without the legion of athletic but functionally retarded non qualifiers and an East German level doping program that turned normal farmboys into hulking OL behemoths by their upperclass seasons. Hard to fathom.
