True, but the internet is also the ultimate library and the ultimate educator and the ultimate chronicle of works of art and inspired poetry. It is us and it always was going to be us. My own social media has been a source of profound revelations for me. Just today, I got an email from an 87 year-old retired English teacher in the Texas Panhandle. She traced her family's entire multi-generational history for me. Her father was one of the guides who guided President Teddy Roosevelt on wolf hunts on the 6666 Ranch. She's not quite a shut-in but she can't drive and pretty much the only person she sees is her daughter who comes to visit, take her to the grocery store etc... She found a long-lost cousin on one of my threads and has started a correspondence with him that has enriched her life. At the end she said she couldn't thank me enough, that I have no idea what my works to a lonely old Texas lady, and that if I ever visit Lockney please stop and see her and she'll make me lunch. It put a lump in my throat. In short, like every other thing man has ever invented, the internet is neither good nor bad. It's what we do with it that determines whether it's being used for good or bad in that moment.16 points

Listening to the Baylor post game and it’s really tough to hear Roach trying his best to respond to the questions. Before some drunk asshole comes in here to rightfully shit on Herman et al, I’d like to remember the Seniors. Regardless of a shitty season, they are going to bring us to 3 straight bowls with a chance to win all three, one of which was the Sugar Bowl. I remember being on winning and losing teams, and remember playing with people I considered to be family regardless of outcome. Thanks for your commitment to this team and The University of Texas. And then, of course, the most baddest ass huntin' picture of all time! My cousin and grandmother after she ran shooed him out the door with a rifle to "get outta my hair while I'm cookin' in the kitchen!" 20 min later he comes back and tells us all, "Hey, I think I got somethin' good!" The Wolf Brand Chili hat really ties the room together, does it not?9 points

No way. I want to win the Morally Right trophy every year and talk about how clean we are. That is much better than winning. Winning is overrated.7 points

Firing CDC is obviously lulz, but he deserves heavy criticism for extending Herman after last year, even if it was partly booster/regent driven. For once, I wish our athletic department would handle personnel and management decisions like grown ups, instead of jizzing ourselves like a 15 year old touching his first tit everytime one of our coaches has a good season.7 points

I'm tempted to just shut the board down and redirect to a page to send complaints to CDC and Athletic departments office. This is fucking garbage.7 points

This is a stupid argument-Good coaches are good coaches... For example, Urban’s (everyone’s wet dream) tactics at Utah (who was a G5 team at the time) carried over at relative blue blood UF. That said-if you are to hire from the G5 level, you need to hire a coach who has succeeded at a G5 school where it’s tough to win (see Rhule, Matt or Fleck, PJ)... Not UH which will always have great talent (by G5 standards) due to its location and academic standards (lack thereof).6 points

Best comparison I can make is the Cowboys. Living off historical success. Just enough recent “success” to keep hope alive. Large fan base that buys lots and lots of merchandise. It’s a vicious cycle.6 points

His arrogance is astounding given it masks that he has no idea how to fix this. But come on, we all saw this coming. He lost to SMU, Navy, and UCONN the year we hired him. We knew we aren’t getting the best option. But we had to roll the dice on him and like Charlie, we chose poorly. So let’s roll the dice again. If you can get Whittingham from Utah or Fleck, then do it.6 points

Fire Herman and let's move on from this absolute failure. Pay the man and get him the fuck outta here.6 points

He's a fantastic CEO for SpaceX. Not so much for Tesla. The window slipping is important because it shows the door was not closed and the window was possibly not fully installed. This allows for force from the ball hitting the window to be dispersed through the extra give. It makes total sense that it was the test before they rolled it out there and then when the door was closed and window fully secured, the ball shattered the glass because the window absorbed 100% of the force. With the collective IQ in the room with that first test, it is an embarrassing mistake in testing. Elon releases the video not realizing the mistake in testing, which just adds more fuel to the hate fire against Elon and Tesla. I've made this point before in this thread, but I'll make it again. Tesla needs to decide what kind of car manufacturer it is going to be: luxury or affordable. Elon preaches making affordable electric vehicles for all economic demographics, but has yet to deliver anything other than luxury vehicles. This truck is absolutely tone deaf to the truck market. That's absolutely okay because it is a luxury vehicle. Nobody takes a Mercedes Benz G-Class out mudding and neither will they take this thing. It's a statement piece. We aren't saving the world with statement pieces and luxury vehicles, but that's okay, too, because Tesla's true value is innovating and creating a market that, as Ford is recently showing, will be eventually filled with cheaper alternatives. But those things don't pay Tesla's bills and they don't justify the share price. Beating those cheaper alternatives to market will. Elon is showing no signs of that happening.6 points

It is not half. The electoral college and the supreme court along with aggressive voter suppression is the reason we arrive close to 50/50. We have allowed this and propaganda to fester and create the appearance of a 50-50 split. The media shifting to infotainment formats and trying to combat the myth of liberal media by giving the other sides lies a place is also a problem. Well that’s like my opinion man.6 points

I like to tell people how much maturity and humility I have. See, I know that people won't figure these things out if I don't tell them. They need to know about my humility. They need to know about my maturity. They need to know that I am overcoming the struggle...through introspection. So I tell them.5 points
