  1. 1) The concerns/thoughts around Herman meddling with whatever an OC wants to do are unfounded. The guy handed the offense to Tim Beck and provided input on strategy. Then Tim Beck shit the bed, predictably to everyone not named Herman and his apologists, and Herman was forced to intervene. He attempted to hand the reins back several times. He doesn't want to be the OC. Harrell or whoever comes here, they're getting their run of the offensive side of the ball and Herman will help them gameplan. 2) Everyone, and I mean fucking everyone, on this thread is acting as if Herman is a dead man walking. That includes me. We're also a bunch of message board dorks. Herman's seat is warm to the outside world, but not toasty. The guy had a down year with major defensive losses and major injury issues. Texas still won 7 games and returns a ton in 2020. Coaches fire chunks of their staff every offseason and it doesn't mean they're a year away from termination. Someone taking a job at Texas isn't the same as taking a job at USC when Helton was known to have been retained merely due to bigger problems within the USC administration at the time. 3) A coordinator coming to Texas has a chance to brand themselves a guru, just as much as one taking a job at OU, Ohio State, Bama, and other major programs or blue bloods. Harrell fucking talked about this as that kind of big deal when all of this came up and I referenced in prior posts. If he doesn't take this job, it's because he simply preferred to work with Helton over Herman. It isn't because the opportunity wasn't big enough or because he assumes Herman is a dead man after next season. 4) Apparently, they're actually going through a plan with all of this. Like, we're getting the thing we wanted and many of you guys are now bawling because you have a need for instant gratification. Or maybe you care that other people are laughing at us and didn't realize that other people have been laughing at us for a decade. 5) This time 10 years ago, Texas had a HCIW to replace the HC as a rising coordinator. The donors and the AD are not above looking at the circumstance for what it is. If Harrell were to come here, look like a fucking wizard, and Herman were to keep pissing everyone off, they might fucking scramble to address the move before someone nabs the guy. Anyway, Herman can still fuck all of this up. I have no doubt he can. But I'm not despondent at the moment, and you shouldn't be either.

  3. Ute fan here coming in peace. Yes we drink, a lot. BYU fans like to “bash” us about our alcohol. Our online fans can be retards, but the fans who will be at the game should be chill. Sounds like the team is excited to play a blue-blood. We actually have quite a few Texas recruits on our team and Cam Rising who transferred from you guys, (Rising is obviously ineligible this year). It’s sounding like most of our seniors should play. We lost our first and second string safety in the championship game. We’ve got a solid team, over rated most of the year which you guys saw why Friday but we’re solid. We have a young o line which got blown up by Oregon. Our defense has 5-6 nfl dudes on it. Zack Moss our rb is a nfl back. He loves contact and is an animal. I didn’t watch Texas once this year other than a quarter of the LSU game. If you guys have a good DL/OL you will be able to keep the game close and probably win. If you let us dominate the line of scrimmage then be prepared for a long night. We love to control the time of possession until we wear defenses down then hit them with big plays. Hope it’s a good game.

  4. LSU offered to take this guy and give him the thumbs up medically after the first review from doctors at Texas. Sight unseen. He declined. Think about yourself at 18/19 doing that. This guy deserves any support our fans can give him. Also, LSU is a fucking piece of shit program.

  7. You are right to condemn the Republicans for their party-over-country bullshit. But I disagree that the Dems would behave the same way if Trump were a D. They wouldn’t be leading the charge, maybe, but they wouldn’t be selling out logic, truth, and reason to defend him.

  8. Al Franken says hi. Consider how that was handled by the Dems. Then consider the total fealty to Trump despite all the crimes and daily shitshow. Both sides my ass

  9. Congrats on the bet! Cool gesture, donation made. This got a solid LOL, nice nice. I would take it again all day, twice on Sunday. No way they were 67% to go unbeaten the rest of the way. This is a damn, damn good team though. LOL come on man. "Still hasn't surfaced"? It hadn't even been 36 hours since the season ended, much less since this thread was posted. I have paid multiple members of this board 5 figure payouts on investments, don't think I'm headed to Mexico over a $100 bet lol.

  10. I don't know "the plan". They're talking to numerous people and conducting interviews/putting out feelers for various slots. They're not just swinging a dead cat and hiring the first dipshit it hits. I remain adamant that guys need to be hired ahead the first signing day. If they don't do that, we're facing Malikmas giftgiving to other programs. Relatively speaking, we may have different views on what "quickly" means. That time frame is quick to me, but that doesn't mean shit needed to have gotten done yesterday.

  14. Can we just focus on updates? I mean we've had some variation of (the OC will never have full autonomy/Mensa won't give up the offense) argument like every other page for 50 pages now.

  15. a few things recently... mushroom-gruyere tart with a homemade tahini crust. pumpkin risotto and lobster risotto. gougeres, always a favorite with champagne. roast chicken with roasted purple potatoes. lemon sabayon tart with homemade pine nut and butter crust (super fucking good). madelines. bacon, egg, spinach, tomato, cheese, crusted buttered bread (steel shank thread worthy but oh so fucking good).

  17. No one really knows anything on Harrell right now, but it's laughable to think that no news is bad news here. The moment he's locked in with it SC they will be shouting it from the rooftops, as their fan base is in full on revolt and they need any glimmer of hope they can offer to convince them that keeping Helton wasn't a monumental fuck up. As long as SC isn't saying anything, it means they don't know anything, just like us.

  19. Disagree; most coaches are dicks. Some coaches are pussies and think everyone can get along and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes. And all the assholes want is to shit all over everything. So pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while because, pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes! And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit.

  21. You keep posting the same basic thing over and over again, but let's not forget that Herman seemed very reluctant to intervene in our offensive woes previously. He let Beck call plays, to our detriment, and has stated that he doesn't like to call plays from the field, and essentially doesn't want to be the OC, too. I disagree with plenty of his decisions so far, but he obviously knows his neck is on the chopping block if this all doesn't work out.

  22. Donald Trump: "I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia." 1) In 1991 a Saudi Prince bought a Trump yacht for 20 million, saving Trump from bankruptcy 2) In 1995, Trump Plaza Hotel was rescued by a $325 million dollar investment from that same Saudi Prince 3) In 2001, the 45th floor of Trump World Tower was sold to the Saudi government for 45 million dollars 4) In 2017, the Saudi government spent 270,000 dollars at Trump's Washington Hotel and is estimated to have used those rooms for any purpose less than 25% of the time 5) In 2028 Saudi Arabia's crown prince stayed at Trump's hotel in New York and boosted its revenue by 13% That's why, for Trump, his instinct after the killings in Florida was to protect the Saudis: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/07/us/politics/trump-pensacola-saudi-arabia.html

  23. He beat Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley. He's beaten Patterson, Campbell, Gundy, Klieman, and the Wizard. He's beaten well coached teams before. I don't think he'll win here to due to match up reasons and due to coaching transitions, but this an overly reactionary and unjustifiable take that will likely devolve into a no true scotsman fallacy coming from you and a general sense of exasperation from me.

  25. Uuuhhhhhh no. The system rewards scheduling for an undefeated season. It clearly discourages out of conference matchups for fear of that one loss, and discourages the ACC and SEC from actually playing their conference opponents (and to keep playing D2 schools). We are sacrificing the first 3rd of the season to make the artificial “push” at the end of the season to only have 1 or zero losses. The rest of the schedule doesn’t mean shit. Just don’t lose. 8 is great. A conference championship is the only real metric college football has that is played on the field. Polls and committees should be saved for politics, not sports. 120+ teams and 12 games. Zero like schedules. And a playoff system based on confirmation bias.

  26. So if GA beat LSU and the “committee” pullled 2 sec teams into the 4, that would be ok? Committees determining champions are for diving and ice dancing. I would prefer conference champions advancing without the all the beauty contest preseason/ in-season spin machinery that ESecPN, CBS, and others push for their own money agenda. It’s less drama and less soap opera using only conference champions, but it’s real. Maybe with realignment there can be enough conferences to produce an 8 team playoff without “committee input”, and yes there will always be weak conferences or down years for certain conferences, but it’s better to settle this on the field rather than the hypothetical/ virtual way people think a certain team will perform against another. See: sec , for the reason this is not working optimally.

  31. In seven years at Ohio State, Urban Meyer's teams never lost more than two games in a single season. From 2010 to 2013, Mack Brown's Texas teams lost 7, 5, 4, and 5. You might want to rethink what "tip top shape" means.

  32. This is a terrible, horrible, stupid take and you should feel bad about it. It's like when Texas played USC and everybody said, "Oh see, the BCS really does work!" 5 auto bids from the conference champions and then the committee can pick the next three best teams however they want. It gets rid of all the cross-conference beauty contest comparison bullshit and gives every P5 team an objective, legitimate path to make the playoffs. Decide this shit on the field.
