  1. When I see the President of the United States spending his days engaging in juvenile name calling and accusing others of crimes with no factual basis whatsoever while tens of thousands of people die on his watch, there’s really only one thing that comes to mind: Donald Trump is doing a great job. Signed, @Johnny Sack, and 100% of Republicans

  2. Lol. This thread is awesome: ”Biden is insufficiently supportive of African Americans. I’m going to support the guy who *checks notes* is okay with White Nationalism!”

  3. I can't believe I live in an America where a random white woman flips off the President and instead of disgust I feel hopeful for the future of this country.

  9. In the spirit of @AnotherUTFan‘s bay-area bohemian bordello, figured I’d post pics of my music maker’s space. My “office” has been in progress for two and a half years now and is nearing my vision finally. I started with a prefab cabin shell, hired an electrician to wire it up then I finished the interior — insulation, dry wall, ceiling, flooring, trim, lights, etc... Exterior view from the deck. Snowing today. My collection all hung up. I really only want to add two things at some point — a good dreadnought w/electronics (probably an Eastman) and a bass of some kind for recording. My semi-hollow/hollows: Eastman T486 and Gibson ES-330. My solid bodies: Gibson Les 60s Standard Les Paul and Fender American Standard Strat. My only real amp left, a Vox AC30. My “desk”. Mac book pro and monitor on the left are for work-work. The Mac Pro on the right is for recording. A pair of JBL active studio monitors flank em and on the right side is a Line 6 Helix LT. 90% of my playing is done here through the Helix into the monitors now. This is also where I do all my recording. And sometimes I push code for work. In another year I hope to have the dread and bass hung up and I’ll consider my maker’s space complete. Would love to see what others are doing for their practice/recording/playing spaces.

  10. It could have gone in the Senate thread, but since it's mostly in reference to Trump it's going here.

  11. You will be shocked to learn how the current president talks then. And yes, that is a minor gaffe. A major one would be like talking shit about American POWs or calling nazis good people or bragging about committing sexual assault. Things like that.

  14. Brothahorn isn’t entirely wrong. I used to think a lot like that - the Dems have done similarly with the Hispanic vote. Being taken for granted with minimal payoff sucks ass, is demeaning, and infuriating. So, you look to the other option. The problem is, that other option turns out to treat minorities as a pawn as well - except that treatment is as red meat, served up to their racist base. It’s bad to be in a relationship with a woman who takes you for granted, over promises and underdelivers. That would really suck. But when you leave her and end up with a woman who openly abuses you, disparages you to anyone who will listen, uses you as a scapegoat for anything that she doesn’t like, and a continuing parade of horribles....well, you picked the wrong lady.

  16. We can talk about the wisdom in this lack of social distancing, and whether there will be consequences in the form of increased cases of COVID-19. But instead can we focus our disappointment on the fact that this is the best beach picture you can offer, with no talent whatsoever? Be better.

  24. good luck to your friend. your last sentence reminded me of one of my favorite quotes of all time "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist" that disconnect is at an all time high in America in 2020

  27. I don't have any problem with people not wearing a mask outside, in open spaces. Folks aren't wearing them in our neighborhood on their evening walks and runs -- plenty of room, little proximity (although I have seen a few folks wear them -- fine, but not particularly necessary). Folks in stores, doing a decent job -- high mask usage. But you and I both know that it's largely broken down on political lines. I live in "blue" Austin, relatively central. Was on the phone this morning with a fishing buddy who lives 12 miles away, in a "red" neighborhood in Round Rock. He said mask usage in stores and such is very low. How in the blue fuck a simple thing like wearing a mask when you are among other people in an indoor space -- a very minor inconvenience, done mostly for the sake of those around you -- became a goddamned political BATTLE (not an issue, but a fucking angry FIGHT)....I just don't understand. I don't speed through a school zone. Not just because it's a law, but because I should slow down to help protect kids who may make a dumb decision and cross without looking. I don't carelessly discard lit fire materials, cigars, etc., not just because it's the law, but because I don't want to start a fire that destroys someone's home or livelihood. I don't cough in someone else's face because I don't want to get them sick. I act with just a modicum of decency and concern for my fellow man. Sometimes, that means that I don't get to do exactly what I want to do in a given moment. Again, the concept of "maybe I should slightly inconvenience myself in the interest of protecting my fellow man" is a fucking knock-down, spittle-flinging, rage-filled BATTLE. What the everloving fuck is wrong with us? What the actual fuck?

  28. I glance at a woman who looks like that in my HEB, and I think "meh." But something about that level of genius in a woman can turn "meh" into boner material.

  29. Here's how I make a gumbo. Brown all the andouille. I use 4 12 oz packs of Cajun Holler since it's the easiest to get a hold of in Austin. Damn I miss Nick's in PA, though. Make a roux. I use 1 cup flour to 1 cup vegetable oil. Back home though I save myself some work and use a jar of Douget's or Savoie's roux. I actually never made roux till I moved to Austin and couldn't find it anywhere but Sambet's on 183. Takes me about 30 minutes to make it these days, now that I have a lot of practice under my belt. If you're worried about messing it up, just keep the flame low and be patient. Here it is about ready: Add trinity plus a handful of garlic. I use about 2 green peppers, 2 big onions, and 4-5 celery stalks. Season with a shitload of Tony's and cook about 10 minutes, till the veggies get soft. Add about 3 quarts water or chicken broth, the sausage, and more Tony's. Cook about 30 minutes. Add 3 lbs chicken thighs, seasoned with Tony's. Cook at least an hour. Add 1 bunch each of green onions and Italian parsley. Cook another 15 minutes. Plated with a side of garlic bread. Happy Saturday, y'all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
