I am no Biden fan, but the last four years has been a complete beatdown for so many of our fellow citizens, especially those that are black or brown. The storefront racism that we see day after day after day has to be stopped. My vote for Biden is not because I think he has a lot of answers to our myriad of problems. It is because he will not be wasting everyday on Twitter and binge and hate-watching cable news while he is also actively stealing our money by the hundreds of millions. All I want from Biden is to have a great team around him that will govern and make good decisions. Elizabeth Warren should be his first appointee to whatever cabinet position she wants because that woman is a wrecking ball of awesome that needs to be unleashed on some folks ASAP.22 points

Hand was never going to win Byrd without Samples You can fault him for not getting them on campus sooner, but Jonah Miller was impacted by lack of visits. I'm not putting that on Hand. Fatheree was, at one point, the 5th tackle on the board. He's not a great football player, and it doesn't appear that he will become one (to me at least). Of course we look back at those highly rated guys, but I'd rather have Merril than Fatheree if I'm honest. And that's not sour grapes, I just don't like him as a prospect. This sits on Hand, I agree. There is a lot of hatred of Blake being miscast as disappointment in Hand. Blake fucked us this cycle with his whiny demands while actively steering the boys to Alabama. If we had offered another tackle, Blake would have used it as a public excuse for looking around. If we were keeping guys warm and that leaked out, he would have used it as a public excuse for not trusting Texas. We would be crucifying Hand and Herman for not kowtowing to his every demand, especially when we lost them. Frankly, TH and Hand did exactly what we would expect them to do in these situations and Blake fucked us, earnestly and willfully.18 points

Look, I don’t give a shit what religion you practice but when your religious beliefs have outsized influence on say, your interpretation of the rule of law, and the consequences of that interpretation are citizens losing their rights because that’s the way god wants it, it’s a big fucking problem.16 points

I'm doing Text banking for Texas Democrats tonight. Mostly non eventful. We ask if you are planning on supporting Biden, Hegar, etc. Of the people that respond, mostly yes's and some saying "stop". Only one Trump 2020 tonight. I said thanks for letting me know, have a nice day (the standard response). She responded with again, Trump 2020. So i'm saying fuck it with the pre written responses and i'm trolling this woman.9 points

This is a microcosm of the world we live in, and a byproduct of the internet. One person googles a bunch of articles and studies that fit their predetermined narrative, cherry picking the data and numbers they want, while the other party had studied the subject for 50 years and has to explain to the first person why they have no fucking clue what they are talking about. The problem is unlike 50 years ago, the internet guy still thinks he’s right after the conversation9 points

Why should we have to move? From a national perspective, you forget that you're in the minority and will also soon be in this state. Since the GOP no longer has a party platform and they no longer have an official agenda, I'd like to hear what the purported conservatives on this board would like to see from a conservative supreme court. Do they really want to roll back Roe and simply leave the issue solely to the states? Do they really want to roll back environmental regulation at the federal level and leave that solely to the states? Do they really want to roll back federal enforcement of civil rights regarding gay marriage, voting rights, and the religious freedoms of anyone who is not a Christian Anglo? Do they really want to roll back worker and consumer protections at the federal level to leave us at the mercy of corporate malfeasance? Conservatives Christian Anglos need to realize that, even in Texas, they are living in a rapidly changing state. Liberals and moderates are flocking to its major metro areas and the rural parts of the state have seen their populations stagnate or decline unless they're fortunate to be located over a geologic oddity that allows free money to flow out of the ground (but even that is unreliable to sustain real economic growth). Look, the genie is out of the bottle and the only way you can go back to the "good ol' days" is through the dramatic manipulation of our electoral process, which is what your party has been trying to accomplish (with some success). Is this really what you want? A government of, by, and for only some people? Aren't you concerned that this will bite you in the ass in the long (maybe mid-) run? Simple logic should tell you it's time to begin to moderate your stances on these issues and work with the majority so that you can use your current influence to protect your conservative concerns. You know...bend but don't break. Instead, the positions I see from the current GOP is to place itself into an increasingly rigid, but brittle, situation and I don't think you're going to like how that cookie eventually, but suddenly, crumbles.9 points

Ho hum. Just the sitting president casually refusing to commit to a peaceful transition of power and insinuating that the only way he could lose is because of "the ballots". This country is such a shit show that the president threating a constitutional crisis is barely big enough news to make this thread at this point.8 points

Fucking Nahlin. Huff ran a fucking 10.13 and was elite in just about every way a human can be elite as an athlete. No one reminds you of Huff. If they did it's not a guy that runs 11.27. Again, Gbenda is a LB and ran an 11.07. 4.74 40 -- 4.43 shuttle - 32" vertical at 5'11" 178 Huff is an old man and would absolutely crush those numbers right now.8 points

Just from my own experience re: catching COVID from voting in person, I worked a poll in July and was around hundreds of people throughout the day while wearing a mask and staying as socially distanced as possible. None of the workers got it and most of the people who voted were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Go vote early and everything is going to be fine.8 points

No, not really. If 200,000 young, healthy Americans had died, we'd be on a real, strictly-enforced lock down with curfews and actual punishment for public gatherings. Because it is largely the elderly and immunocompromised at risk, policy is essentially, "Hey, please wear a mask when entering a public building, and let's chill out on crowds for awhile." But apparently even that's asking too much.8 points

You cannot compare the number of deaths with those countries. How about this stat... US has 4% percent of the population and 20% of the deaths and the total number of deaths are more than any other country in the world. If you cannot see the problem here you are a fucking idiot.8 points

That’s not ok, under any circumstances outside of a rogue cop trying to kill you. It doesn’t further the cause or effect change, regardless how upset you are at the current circumstances. Nothing good is going to come to any of this. And it’s got the DT crowd spun up in a frenzy accusing brisket of being a Marxist, blaming all of this on the protestors while ignoring the circumstances that lead to this rage in the first place. This is just all-around horrible with real people and police having their lives irreparably shattered...the shooting/looting/riots are absolutely in the wrong for how they’re responding but with essentially monthly reminders that the police are rarely held accountable mixed with an emboldened ‘militia’ culture, completely ignoring why they are so upset is going to lead us nowhere.7 points

And this is why the very idea of No-Knock warrants should have been painted as idiocy from the get go, much less make it into actual practice. When you give law enforcement Gestapo-like powers, you will inevitably find yourself in completely fucked up situations such as this one. You break down someone's door in the middle of the night. They have no idea who it is and legally have a right to defend themselves and their home. The cops are acting legally and they also have a right to protect themselves. Now we're having shootouts in the dark where innocent sleeping people are being killed, bullets are flying into adjacent homes with pregnant women in them, cops are being shot, which all culminates in the taxpayers having to foot an enormous civil lawsuit bill and the city eventually burning to the ground from riots. And no one can really be held accountable because everyone is technically doing the legal thing. Or, ya know, we could just have police do actual fucking police work. Stake the place out, wait until the suspect leaves the house, and then corner them at their vehicle, etc. in broad daylight where you almost entirely control the situation instead of barging into someone's home where you don't know what is waiting for you. Then, after the suspect is in custody you can waltz in the front fucking door anytime you please. All these years later and I still remember this video of a poor schmuck getting murked in his own home holding a golf club for defense because the police busted down his door in the middle of the night. He wasn't a violent criminal who had hostages in the basement or some shit. He was a suspected drug dealer. They could have gotten this guy at anytime with zero issues, but nah, lets just bust down the door in the dead of night and shoot first. Who in the flying fuck thought those kind of tactics were acceptable in what is supposed to be the land of the fucking free? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV6Bq8xeQrU7 points

Anyone who thinks polls, popular voter sentiment and the will of the people is guaranteed to be reflected in the election outcome hasn't been paying attention the last 4 years. We have a governing minority that are intent to preserve their power at all costs. They know they cannot win a democratic election. They aren't really trying to anymore. Their energy and resources are being spent on subverting the Presidential election. No poll can account for the effects of that. Here's a news flash: American democracy is just as fragile and mortal as every other assumed unassailable norm that has been shattered by Trump and the rest of the GOP over the last 4 years. It is an abstract concept that only has meaning as long as all parties abide by it and as long as the people responsible for safeguarding it carry out their duty. One party -- the ruling party that wields the power of the federal government -- has been emphatically saying "Fuck that shit" for some time now. By all means, vote, get others to vote, donate your time and money to the opposition. Maybe Trump's and the GOP's efforts can be overcome by a large enough turnout. But also start preparing yourself for what's next if they successfully squash legitimate elections as the last impediment to their unyielding control. Because right now, as I type and you read this, they are actively working towards that end.7 points

More pictures from the pro-Trump White Power hootenanny that the “lady” with the BBC face mask attended. I think it’s time for us white people to admit we’ve had a good run but too many of us are too far gone. Check out the last picture of that fucking fat necked built of Crisco cop just yucking it up with those assholes. And those people who survive on Sun Drop, Winston cigarettes, opioids, and pork rinds are supposed to be the master race and representatives of white power. Donald Trump would actually run for the first time in 30 years if he had to interact with that bunch of genetic miscreants.7 points

The worst part about trump is his idiotic tweets and stupid fucking rants that make no sense. Without those 2 things everyone here would be overreacting. The problem is you can't take back or put stupid back in the closet. It's here to stay now and that's what the issue is. GOP is now blatantly the party of stupid, racism and everything that is wrong with America and people just want to fly their stars and bars. We have an American culture problem we don't have a cheating lying politician problem (any worse than before). The American people are big fat stupid racist sheep and we've been exposed as such to the world. This is what happens when people get intellectually lazy to the point of idiocracy. The plutocrats take over because there's no reason not to.7 points

Got two new voters registered today! My daughter turned 18 the week before moving to college and with all of that going on, she forgot to register here. So she went and registered in Auburn today. Which will actually work out better because she can vote in person there and not have to fool with Alabama’s horrible absentee voting rules. And I helped her boyfriend get registered and get his absentee ballot to vote in North Carolina. He was able to do it all online, which is great. Plus, NC is obviously more crucial than Alabama. He was apathetic and leaned conservative because of his family’s politics but he’s been converted by my daughter lol. He joined the College Democrats with her and they have been phone banking for Doug Jones. Undefeated.7 points

Roach leaving Hullaby off is patently absurd. Even if his brother hadn't come in to camp and become the poster-child for buy-in to the Herman culture, which he has, Landon is a rangy DB with an excellent frame that provides positional flexibility and competes with top-tier guys constantly while training. It's funny that Roach claims to know how the Texas coaches feel about Isaac Thompson while at the same time saying that he thinks that they'd take Kerr/Driver but want to see more from Hullaby. Hell, if there was anyone on the list that would warrant a further look, it would be Cristian Driver. He has the genetics and he's had all the training. He's got a good frame but he simply does not run well and I doubt he's going to gain a ton over what his training has been. 12.58 in the 100m and 7.51 in the 60 as a JR and a 21'5" LJ are pedestrian numbers - for a LB. Comparison Gbenda 11.06. Blackwell .11.86. Biddle 10.7. Kerr 11.66. FFS, Hullaby ran a 12.17 in middle school6 points

Actually it's mostly white men. Rapine white men. Our good run was generally only good for us. White men should be banned from leadership of just about anything for ten years maybe 20. White women have advanced as far as anyone from under our foot, but you still have unequal pay, Me Too, and endless condescension. I considered myself fairly enlightened and aware. The last four years have relieved me of delusion. I wasn't seeing the world as clearly as I thought, and I didn't have a high opinion of the world to start with. I'm not a bad guy. A large number of my pale brothers are the same. It's just hard for me to have benefitted from the collective advantage of my skin color and sex and then say, "but I'm different!" Passivity is not a defense. Writing pithy shit on a message board is not enough.6 points
