  2. Unfortunately politics has taken the place of religion for a lot of people. Or put another way, politics is their new religion.

  3. In NYC for a weekend and my wife and I are with a crowd at a crosswalk waiting for the light to turn. All of a sudden, a kid starts into the crosswalk against the light. Out of my peripheral vision, I see a car coming and I instinctively yell “WATCH OUT LITTLE MAN!” The kid hurries up and makes it across just before the car speeds through, honking. Once he gets safely to the other side, he turns around and glares at me and I see his beard. He was, in fact, a little man. My wife just lost it.

  4. This country is going to hell. Gaetz needs to learn to tap his foot under a bathroom stall in an airport like a decent, God-fearing GOP congressman.

  5. You are correct sir. I’ve been saying this for quite some time. Media is the root of division. Some are able to figure this out while the rest will exacerbate it on their FB feed.

  6. It appears like a set up. Ambushed. Went for a stranded motorist call and the perp immediately started shooting through Trooper Walker’s window when he pulled up. I know Chad Walker and his family. Salt of the earth people. Humble. And it doesn’t fit the media narrative so buried coverage it is. At the surface it appears to be a sick mentally deficient person had a long beef with law enforcement and decided to inact his own justice on a random LEO. Now we are without a good man who was valuable to his family and to our state.

  9. Had a chance to talk with some folks about our current and ex-head coach and my kool-aid is flowing. When Herman was hired we knew we were getting a very good coordinator who could win games. His bowl record at Texas proves it. However, the massive red flag was his philosophy of running the team like a navy seal camp. I bitched and moaned about that at the time, and took a few negs on it, but was convinced that approach wasn’t going to fly. Fast forward to Sark. Having coached under Pete Carroll, he watched Carroll evolve his coaching philosophy of how to treat players more professionally with a more positive supportive environment. That approach led in part to the Seattle Super Bowl win. We are now seeing the Sark approach, which is influenced by Carroll, start to be noticed by the press and players. I am confident this approach will be way more successful than Herman. This team will show more resolve and less inconsistency IMO. Assuming Sark is a great x and o’s coach too, like Lane Kiffin and others claim, nothing should stop this team from getting better fast, as long as drinking doesn’t become an issue again.

  10. Without endorsing any particular view of plaintiffs attorneys, it is my sense that Dominion's attorneys are not dicking around for publicity. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/dominion-builds-legal-behemoth-to-drain-trumpland-of-billions/ar-BB1f6hrz According to that article, they brought in Susman Godfrey. They aren't perfect by any stretch, but they're pretty good. Also that article concludes with this bit of deliciousness.

  11. Wasn’t the political undertone of this thread a commentary that an uneducated incel raised in some overbearing religious environment shooting up a couple massage parlors for making him repeatedly sin triggered national media and politicians to claim a white on Asian race war had begun, while multiple incidents of uneducated inner city people carjacking UberEats drivers wasn’t considered a pattern at all or worth sensationalizing? I’m not saying one crime is worse than another, but the commentary is around the national reaction to the crimes. I also haven’t heard much coverage (or posts here) about the cop in Mexia that got blasted in the face on Friday night by a suspect of the stereotypical profiled. It goes against the narrative that most cops are pieces of crap that have it coming and there is no rationale for why cops of all races hold subconscious biases.

  12. Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather.

  15. I was at a party in a neighboring town while home from college for a summer. My brother, a buddy, and I are standing in the yard drinking beer and some guy comes up to us and starts asking us how old we are and where we're from. We tell him what school we went to, and our general age range. The guy then asks who the biggest slut around our age was. This should have been the point where I exited the conversation, but I can be naïve and assume a question - almost any question - is well intentioned. So we have an honest debate between the 3 of us and settle on HK. He asks us why her. I reply that she had a train run on her by some younger guys when she was a senior, would hook up with pretty much anyone, and most recently had just had a kid with some random guy from said neighboring town. Dude asks who the guy was. My response: "I dunno. Must have been a real piece of shit to knock her up and leave her with the kid". The dude instantly snaps (he had a methy vibe to him anyhow) and whips out a little knife and starts waving it around yelling "THAT'S MY EX, THAT'S MY KID, AND I'M THAT PIECE OF SHIT! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE BEFORE I CUT YOU". We look at each other dumbfounded and sprint out of the yard. One of our buddies was at the party inside the house and called almost instantly wondering what the hell we said because the guy was now in the house screaming about how anyone from our town had to get the fuck out lest he knife them. This was on a Friday night, and I had conveniently forgotten that HK worked at the local gas station where I got coffee in the mornings on my way to work. Monday morning rolls in, and I see her behind the counter. Doing my best to avoid eye contact as I check out, she goes "so, I heard you met my ex this weekend". Cue the music.

  17. Probably folly at this point, but I looked at every single coach that has been to the Sweet 16 over the last 5 tournaments. Of the 46 coaches, 31 are not under consideration (won't leave, too scummy, sucks, too old, etc.). That leaves 15 coaches that could be possible. Some of them may also be too slimy, too shitty, or not leaving their current position for Texas, but it's worth at least kicking the tires on them. Otherwise, we are either grabbing a coach that hasn't been to the Sweet 16 recently (like Ritchie McKay or Joe Golding) or doesn't coach in college (Royal Ivey).

  18. It's a different sport, now everybody shut up. I don't care that you don't care about women's basketball. The whole discussion on this thread is dumb. It's dumb to bring up women's basketball and it's dumb to post the same dumb gif 5 times because you're super cool because you don't care about women's basketball. You're all idiots, now shut up. Thanks.

  23. The problem is that the dropoff (on paper) from Beard to the next best attainable candidate might be pretty steep. We're not poaching from a blue blood. Izzo's, Huggins', Boeheim's, and Hamiltons' next stop is retirement. We're not taking Juwan Howard from his alma mater; same with Matt Painter. We're not touching coaches with NCAA issues at previous stops (Sampson, Pitino). Oats, Musselman, Scott Drew, and Underwood are at schools that will pay up to keep their guys in place (or Texas isn't enough of a step up). Other established championship-contending coaches at non-bluebloods appear to be on "lifer" trajectory (Few, Wright, Bennett). Boynton just signed a major extension. Where does that leave us? A couple good candidates, and a lot of meh: Dana Altman (viable alternative, but Oregon/Nike can easily pay up to keep him. There are also those lingering sexual assault issues) Chris Holtmann (Ohio State can pay up to keep him, and he just suffered the one NCAA upset that was worse than Shaka) Chris Mack (Louisville can pay up to keep him, but they do they want to? Should we want him if they don't?) Fran McCaffrey Greg Gard Steve Piekell Andy Enfield Tad Boyle Mike White Cuonzo Martin Mike Young Brad Brownell Greg McDermott Kevin Willard Danny Hurley Bobby Hurley

  27. On another note. Did my first Uber in over a year. 20-30 something driver didn't seem to be very on board with vaccines. "What do they actually do?". By the time we finished the ride to the mechanic, I had her convinced that they were the light at the end of the tunnel and gave her the links to sign up sites.
