  1. Why did you post this here when you could have just rolled over in bed and said it to him?

  6. I busted out laughing so hard, secure in the grateful knowledge that I was present for yet another Shaggy/Surly moment in time that cannot be replicated anywhere else. Tears were flowing. I knew it’d be stamped in the immortal lineage of hilarious moments of joy I’ve been given by this truly unique community of aging assholes. My wife asks me what is so funny. I explain the situation, animated fully with the ‘there I was’ eagerness of grandpa sharing his war stories. In masterful fashion l lead up to how NowThis joined in and then showed her, with precise comedic timing, the URL he’d pasted on accident... My wife, soulmate, mother of my children looks me in the eye and says ‘you’re fuckin stupid’.

  7. Just want to reiterate how absolutely insane this is. The Belarusians made a fake bomb threat and diverted 100s of people when a plane carrying a journalist they didn’t like transited their airspace. Western airlines should turn off all flights in and out and refuse overflight from their national carrier.

  13. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I was there in the stands and really never thought about looking for the TCU game via the ESPN app, but there was a guy in front of me that was peeking at periodically. K St was down 8-4 and then quickly down only 1 ...still watching our game, and then hearing about the other with the potential to be tied up, made ours even more important. Then he announced that K St had hit a walkoff! It was funny cuz there were parts of the stands starting this low cheer and then it got louder and more elevated throughout the crowd, you could see our players looking into the stands and the WVU dugout doing this WTF? look...... Thanks to my Dad putting into my blood, I've been to a lot of great games and been a small part of great moments @ the Disch since it's inception. Due to the weather, it wasn't an overwhelming crowd, but the roar and cheering was. It was awesome being there and being a part of it. Congrats guys!! Big 12 Champs! Keep it up to OMAHA!

  14. The author of this article reminds me of Mack Brown. "Scared to death" ULL: Oh no, not the mighty Rajin' Cajuns! I can see how this can be classified as a trap game, but if the whole planet has been talking them up because of their returning production and they're on everyone's radar, is it really a trap game? Arkansas: Holy shit, Arkansas like to play Texas tough? Who would've known?! TCU: This will actually be a tough game, since we're their super bowl and all. Let's see how a competent DC can stuff their offense and what kind of chess match Sark will engage in against Fatterson's defense. Keep in mind even the Mensa fuckfest was one KI fumble away from winning last year. OU: Yeah they're built to win this year. We can all temper those expectations. OSU: We have them at home and Gundy is still Gundy. ISU: Best ISU team evarrrr! We may as well forfeit! Yes, this will be the second toughest game of the year. It will be interesting to see how well Campbell handles the pressure of frequently playing as a favorite. Looking forward to this game. WVU: Lost a ton to the transfer portal. They will be overwhelmed. KSU: Deuce is good. Our defense will be good, too. We have them at home. Zach Barnett sounds like a bitch.

  15. People did walk out. Some people in my section did. On the field level a couple PhDs and Masters students walked out too. I couldn't see anything else. I made sure to sing the Eyes like its my last time ever in DKR.

  17. I've said it before, and it's been a few weeks, so I'll say it again. 60-odd pages is not too much to read for someone with a bachelor's degree (or working on one) from the University of Texas. If you have not yet read the Commission's report, you are unqualified to discuss the issue. Or even to have an opinion. https://eyesoftexas.utexas.edu/ Go do yourself a favor.

  20. Ok... It’s your worst nightmare. You’re peacefully sleeping then, suddenly, your brain kicks on and the thought ,”Did I just hear something/someone in my house?” The dog at the foot of the bed picks up her head and begins a low growl. (Fuck.) Opening your eyes into darkness only to see a light glowing from your stairwell. (Fuck me.) Call out daughter’s name no answer. (No pics) Call out again, while grabbing my pistol, no answer. I get out of bed, and slip on my shoes. Wife wakes up and asks what I’m doing. I reply softly that the dog and I heard a noise downstairs and I see a light moving around. She replies, “Holy Shit!” I put my left index finger to my lips and my Heart is pounding. I slowly turn my head to look down the hall. Nothing there but still see the light trembling in the dark. I start creeping down the hall foot over foot like a Navy SEAL. I check my daughter’s door and slowly look in to see that she is still sleeping, but I hear another, much louder noise. My Maltese-Poodle mix is right by my side not moving a muscle and focused on my movements. Gun is ready and so am I, as I cautiously peer down the stairs and hear a door open and close hard!! Heart is pounding hard. My eyes follow the light and I can see that it’s an LED nightlight that my daughter had placed precariously on a shelf by the stairs that had fallen and turned on causing the glowing/moving light. I turn on all of the lights and quickly check my doors and windows. No intruders, but I hear a flushing toilet... upstairs. I go back to our bedroom to see my wife just getting back in bed and this was the exchange: wife: What happened? Is everything ok?! me: Yes. It was the light daughter put on the table, but what the fuck were you doing?!? wife: I had to use the bathroom. me: while I’m walking downstairs with my gun looking for a possible intruder?!? wife: ...I had to pee. What was I supposed to do? me: At the very least, not make any GD noise. wife: tone.

  35. Fucking hell, we had to put Zeus down yesterday. He was a 12-yo Newfie, so we fully realize that we’ve gotten a full life and more out of him, but damn that felt awful. One of the reasons I decided to get a Newfie was the famous epitaph that the English poet Lord Byron wrote on the death of his Newfie Botswain: I thought that was beautiful when I read it and it is more beautiful today because those words just absolutely perfectly describe Zeus. Beauty without vanity? Never seen such a beautiful animal slobber so much... Strength without insolence? In his prime, he weighed 150 with amazing strength. He could have done whatever he wanted in our house, but he only did what he thought we wanted. Courage without ferocity? One trait that I had read about Newfies is that when they sense a threat, they won't bark or growl; they'll just put themselves between the threat and their humans. He was less than a year old when I first saw him do that, stepping between my daughter and a neighbor's new barking dog and just staring it down. Thank you for being in my life for 145 months, buddy.
