  1. What a fucking grease fire this thread is the for the last page. Just a bunch of handwringing and whining, spurred by IT $9.95ers being scared of Fisher's bag dropping and Nick Saban being a sabateur, and also golfclap's conflating of "some younger big boosters that I know" with "all of the younger boosters" in his grind against CDC. I think the world of Gerry and I think Nahlin is a thunderdouche and I can say that my POV on each goes beyond Internet posts. That considered, two things are very true of both of them - they both appear to work their asses off and they're both almost constantly on tilt when it comes to the notion that the bad men are at the door and those bad men are there for our UT souls. ATM is overtly and outlandishly paying players. Some of their fucking loudmouths, O'Neal specifically, are serving as hypemen while trolling around that podunk shithole in tricked out Bentleys and the like. That, no doubt, would be worth the trip just to see for recruits. Fisher and Craig and their crew openly talking about how money is no obstacle for their program with the parents is also real and worth noting. But what's really changed? They bought Richardson, Leal, Demas, Williams, Green and the like. We watched it happen. They're being more aggressive now with families and recruits who aren't showing up wanting or expecting bags to be dropped. They'll land the Bear Alexander types anyway. No one has any clue how effective trying to buy someone who didn't realize they could be bought is going to be, but it's not a concept being introduced by someone who is tactful or suave about the delivery or in the way it will make those recruits and parents feel. I stand by my prior and repeated take - Texas will land Denver Harris, Bryce Anderson and Kelvin Banks. Brooks? I've always thought we had a great shot but he's also never been a guy to bet the house on, so maybe he winds up at Bama. In any event, I expect Texas to land a top 10 class and if they win, a top 5 class. ATM? They'll get the guys that will surprise no one and then Haynes King will lead them against a weak schedule to 9-4 on the season and not much will change. Same old ATM, throwing money at problems that don't need money to cure them.

  2. Not sure what you’re talking about. We’re doomed. Adams was reason for all of Tech’s success and we failed to bring him in with Beard. It’s becoming more and more clear Beard is nothing without Adams. Beard and the BOMC are just paying off all the national writers to prop Beard up while Adam’s builds an elite program at Tech. Just ask all the butthurt Tech fans in Goodman’s replies.

  3. I think it goes much deeper that CDC. You can draw a line straight to Stan Drayton's office on this one.

  4. Everything here is exactly what we all thought was happening. It’s all so obvious. It’s how a mafia member would do things and that is how Dotard operates. This was nothing less than an attempt to completely subvert our system of government and everything this country has worked for for 200+ years. They should all be executed.

  8. I’ll blame the snowflake pieces of shit alums for putting their widdle feelings ahead of the good on the University. Let’s keep the message clear. If you have the means and the general willingness to help the school and choose not to because you don’t like the AD then you’re the piece of shit.

  10. Yeah. But at the same time, caring more for CDC to fail than for your football team and university to succeed is beyond fucked up.

  15. this thread is pretty unbecoming of many posters in my opinion. disappointing. trolling nonsense abounds from too many good posters on #bothsides for a fairly serious topic. this is the kind of shit i expect from people like brad, icono, gr, d.d., and other morons. if we move past the petulant internet scoring of points, airing of grievances, and petty inter-poster rivalries (which i love by the way, don't misinterpret), what is missing from this discussion (with the exception of smokey's post above which drew a strawman from anastasis) is the fact that this decision was not a bilateral negotiation in which the united states was considering it exclusively through the lens of a u.s.-russia diplomatic dynamic, but from a u.s.-central europe (germany) perspective. there are significant, multi-lateral diplomacy implications to this decision and this was something that germany, austria, and the rest of central europe had vehemently stated they wanted...including publicly criticizing the u.s.'s policy of sanctions on ns2 developers. it was also something that, as biden characterized, aimed at easing tensions with germany and from a practical perspective, the u.s. was really left with no other option as it was already effectively completed regardless of u.s. policy. moreover, it likely represented decent political capital to negotiate with europe on in which we don't know all the possible quid pro quos achieved (hypothetically, something like subsidies for plane manufacturers). is it a win for putin? i think it would be fairly silly to say it is not. does it lead to putin's wholesale ability to hold europe hostage given the efforts to diversify its energy supply over the last decade? not at all. is ukraine pissed that it is being bypassed? of course. is there some realpolitik going on here? i suspect so on a few levels. additionally, it is also important that this does not really undermine the severity of the numerous far-reaching sanctions that were imposed by biden's administration in april which seemingly have been somewhat effective to date. as to anastasis's drumbeat, there is a completely legitimate question present there. would i have been more circumspect in allowing for such a nuanced and deferential assessment in my approach to the situation had trump been president at the time and instead echoed some pithy comments of trump being putin's puppet? i doubt it as i'd like to give myself more credit than that. but that said, i will acknowledge that trump's factual and problematic behavior and rhetoric vis-a-vis russia and nato's role early on in his presidency and during his campaign, as well as his behavior in helsinki - along with knowing how transactional trump is in all aspects of his existence and his general lack of integrity or faithfulness to anything that doesn't serve a self-aggrandizing purpose, it would have likely raised the specter of skepticism regarding motivations a bit more. and frankly, i am fine with that given my evaluation of trump relative to biden. that isn't some wholesale endorsement of biden or his motivations, just an opinion that trump is genuinely the worst kind of horrible human being in virtually every way i can imagine. that said, facts matter and here is a brookings listing of 52 policy actions summarized in bite sizes taken by the trump administration from 2017 - 2019. some feckless and deferential, some severe. https://www.brookings.edu/blog/order-from-chaos/2018/09/25/on-the-record-the-u-s-administrations-actions-on-russia/

  16. I’ve never heard a UT fan say this. I have heard many aTm fans complain about that shit. Furthermore UT fans generally don’t even consider OU graduates as having attended a college anyway so it’s generally an irrelevant concept to us.

(She had to move her car because she had blocked the driveway) Her: "Well my keys are somehow locked inside." Me: "I really don't know what you tell you other than I'll be home in a couple hours." Her: "Nevermind, all the doors were locked except the driver door."

  23. No I really don't and after what your shitstain fanbase did to Jose Altuve, the slander without any evidence based on a fake twitter account from a known liar, fuck any Yankee asswipe trying to make evidentiary demands. The New York Yankees cheated, you're just too deluded by fake pinstripe glory to admit what anyone with a drip of common sense knows.

  24. If they refuse to play the game because they don’t like CDC and let aggy buy a championship, they’re complete pieces of shit who never deserve to have a voice in the room for the rest of their lives. Their names should be passed along to every AD and coach we have in the future to ensure they never forget what their pathetic bullshit led to.

  25. Honestly, I think Biden should apologize to Putin for making up the whole Russia meddling in our election thing. It was all just a MSM and intelligence conspiracy that we all (oops, I mean most, you are obviously the exception) fell for. It's amazing how you stay above the fray. Do you think we should drop sanctions on them too? https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/07/us/politics/russian-bounties-nsc.html

  26. Because Democratic leadership think it is bad politics to enforce laws against Republicans. That's all it is, really. They're so fucking timid that they're not even going to investigate the insurrection that their GOP colleagues incited because doing so might result in their GOP colleagues saying mean things about them. Paul Gosar and at least twenty other Republican congressmen tried to have Dem leadership killed and they won't even say what happened. If this somehow doesn't all get erased from history, nobody in the future will be able to comprehend why the Democratic party has reacted the way it has.

  29. By all means, let's apply this same thinking to other subjects like physics, medicine, and economics. Since it takes a substantial amount of education to appreciate the effects of things like general relativity, quantum dynamics, the vascular system, the brain, and market dynamics, clearly none of those things are real.

  34. Agreed. My frustration has always been the fact that Texas feels to superior to play recruiting games to the level of the SEC (don't get me wrong, they still play games. everyone does). Why the fuck not? What's going to happen? Mizzou gets another bowl ban? If everyone else around you is doing this shit level the playing field. In fact, take it to the level of Georgia, Clemson, and Oregon.
