  1. On one hand, I agree with your metrics for success. On the other, it's coach speak at media day. I don't think it matters. If you listen to the interviews, he says that the expectation at Texas is to play for the conference championship and be in the conversation for the playoff. No coach with half a brain is going to come out and say that it's a failure if that doesn't happen year one. There is no upside to it. He's also talked a lot about how this roster is not a rebuild and that he can compete right away. If he were truly hedging, you would be getting a different message all the way around. I just think he's trying to avoid bulletin board material. Nobody has ever won shit at media day.

  9. "Ronnie said he voted for Trump." "The records show that Ronnie didn't vote. At all. Ever. Ronnie has never voted." "Well, that's not what Ronnie said." "Okay, moving on. Who did Linda vote for?" "Linda maced us and hit our truck with a rake when we were leaving. That being said, Linda voted for Trump. I'm damn near positive of it."

  12. The first non peaceful transfer of power since the non peaceful split from England is worth keeping front and center IMO especially given one party’s insistence that we just “move on” from it

  13. Damn. I wish Beard could’ve brought Adams with him so we could get some high level transfers like this guy. Turns out the defense AND the recruiting was all Adams. Tech really sold us a bills of goods on this one.

  15. Sure, there's lots going on. But this is the most significant uprising in quite some time in a nearby country in which the U.S. has had keen political interest over the past half century. To me that merits a lot more bandwidth than the mainstream media has been giving.

  20. I like the idea of Trump crouched over his Red Chief tablet, his fat, nubby fingers clenching a pencil, his tongue out and eyes squinting as he racks his simian brain for an answer to the question “What chokes?” And then beaming with pride and excitement when his misaligned neurons respond back “Dog! Doggie does choke! Dog! Dogdogdog!”

  21. "do a coup" "some very big, very important states" "a walk that has now been proven to be totally appropriate" And he says the only reason he hired Milley was because Obama fired him and Mattis wouldn't recommend him. Because the only way to make a decision is to base it off of how many people you can spite. That way you can eventually admit that all of the people you chose to spite and all of the advice you previously dismissed was, in fact, entirely correct, according to your new opinion. And then the final conclusion is that you got to spite and irritate multiple people and then admit that they were right all along, allowing you to now spite yourself. Many people spited. Success. Donald Trump is a tall version of an angry baby.

  26. I moved away from Texas shortly before the descent into madness, but most of my social circle from Texas has lost their minds. “Fauci belongs in prison” is common, as is some nefarious connection with Bill Gates, and of course vaccines/masks/human decency is the mark of the beast. Q beliefs are common. The flat earth thing seems to be strangely coming up recently as well. I haven’t specifically heard the microchip stuff, but instead I hear dressed up pseudoscience versions of similar concepts. It’s not microchips, but the shot put something in me that’ll do the same thing. Also, apparently the shot was fake too? Probably 20% seem to believe that the vaccinated will die within months because reasons. It’s been nuts. A white single mother with mixed race children started expressing support for Christian nationalism. One guy seems to believe that the sun is fake or something. I can’t figure it out. These are all people I knew very well several years ago and were all normal, sane people. They were close friends. They’ve jettisoned from reality.

  27. The DC hire is sort of what I go back to whenever I need another shot of Kool-Aid. It has the potential to be as good as the Watson hire was terrible. The internet reaction of Husky fans when it was announced was really something. Sark's first DC hire as a head coach, Nick Holt, wasn't great. He had his best Washington season once Holt was fired and he hired Wilcox who went to USC with him. It's sort of hard to take away anything from that short USC stint with everything else that was going on. Wilcox is solid but as a defensive coordinator and playcaller I don't feel like he's on the level of Coach K. If PK is as good as advertised (and Sark keeps his personal stuff in check) this shit is going to work. Goddammit, it's got to work right?

  28. You want to quit it with your lame political shit posted in a news thread? Do you somehow feel like you get a pass because you're a chick who thinks you can follow in the footsteps of @Armybrat due to his "special status" as an old fart who somehow is allowed to get away with this kind of shit in the news forum? There is a place, here, for this type of commentary, but y'all don't do it in the appropriate place because you're both, I assume, afraid to be challenged, or have an honest discussion, and only seek validation for your lack of self-control and your (totally not political, I swear!) posts. AOC's and Hollywood folk's opinions rarely cross my mind on topics of major importance, but your obsessions are duly noted. Because of your commentary, I actually decided to see what AOC had to say on the matter and this is what I came across: You may not like it, and that's okay, but don't pretend like she hasn't given this shit some thought or hasn't voiced support for the protests. Don't allow yourselves be manipulated solely by the headlines unless you just like to be a tool and score some internet points. "We are seeing Cubans rise up and protest for their rights like never before. We stand in solidarity with them, and we condemn the anti-democratic actions led by President Díaz-Canel. The suppression of the media, speech and protest are all gross violations of civil rights."
