  1. Ye of little faith, Jester. Every poster on Surly is a valued member of the community, and I for one always do everything in my power to make them feel so. I changed the thread title just for you. I hope you like it.

  5. That's fascinating. Texas has beaten a ranked team more times in the past week (1), than A&M has in the past 8 months (zero).

  6. TL:DR Need a Mortgage? Use Market Advantage, they will help you get a mortgage for your sex tent or anything else that you can mortgage. It helps Surly, them, and by proxy the Burnt Ends. I'm completely dumbfounded how we convinced Market Advantage to be our first official corporate sponsor. Join me and the Surly Horns team in welcoming Market Advantage (you know them as Gabe Winslow and Paul Wadlington) as the [Surly Horns Official] Mortgage Provider. Let's get to know the Market Advantage team: @Scipio and @Wulaw Horn is how you might know them from their Surly Horns handles, but if you’ve spent any time on the longhorn interwebs you know Paul has a long and storied history interacting with us. From Horn Fans to Barking Carnival and now at Inside Texas and the Everyone Gets a Trophy Podcast, Paul has been writing about UT football for years. Not only is he a great writer he’s a huge fan, all around good guy, but most importantly "one of us" internet assholes. If you’ve spent any time at Surly you know Gabe as @Wulaw Horn. Most famous for buying an RV and going on a crazy tour of the US and then shaving the top off his RV. By far the most important thing Gabe has done in his life is adding “Sex Tent” to the Surly Horns lexicon. Reach them at https://www.mortgagesbygabe.com/ or 832-557-1095. (Don't worry, you won't get signed up for cat facts if you contact them) On a more serious note: Why have we decided to partner with Market Advantage? They put their money where their mouth is, they're good at what they do, and they want this community to flourish. They are active BMD's to the Burnt Ends and are real, active participants in the community not just some guys trying to peddle a service. Give Gabe & Paul a chance to earn your business so that we can keep breaking the internet with our crazy stunts at Surly Horns. Hook 'Em

  7. Spent some time at the beach with our long time port-o- geezie speaking buds for a day or so last week. That's a 32" dia. paella pan. They had to make sure it'd fit in the front door after cooking. Start with chicken, sausage, peppers, spices, etc, more cooking. Then it's the rice, and broth. Shrimp, and mussels next. Then it becomes an industrial sized Jiffy Pop popcorn maker for 45 minutes. Feeds about 35 easily. These people know from Paella !!!!

  10. I just hope that when we do join the SEC and face that brutal schedule, that we can somehow some way avoid losing to Texas A&M for NINE STRAIGHT YEARS. Good luck on avoiding #10 this season. We are all counting on you. Also, since we are new to the conference, can you please tell us if San Jose State, Western Kentucky, and North Texas are in the Eastern or Western divisions of the SEC?

  11. As an aside, because tribalism, it's probably worth mentioning that Inside Texas welcomed RGBIII's promo of Burnt Ends , pinned it on the main board, passed it around social. Even though we're all supposed to be competitors or some bullshit. Point being: the smart communities are working together to make the football good. The less smart see everything as zero sum. That's why Gabe and I gladly kicked in on the surly NIL deal rather than just doing our own. A lot of opportunity for cooperation when everyone just wants to make the football good.

  13. On any given day I read between 2 and 6 newly released peer reviewed COVID manuscripts in the high impact journals. I really question how many papers Fauci sits down, reads, and digests on a daily basis. I know where I work at lot of the people in middle management and higher are inundated with so many meetings and bureaucratic obligations few of them get more than a summary from staff. I see other other high level scientists publicly stating the same thing, so I know I'm not alone in questioning this. For example, the way Fauci has addressed the question of vaccinated persons spreading the disease and the lack of guidance for those who have recovered from COVID indicates there is a disconnect between him and the actual literature. The data CDC used to make the claim that vaccinated people can spread it just like an unvaccinated person was garbage, and there have been multiple studies demonstrating that it is likely a rare event. There are multiple high quality studies that demonstrate people who have recovered from COVID are well protected, and we've also known for months that in recovered individuals the second shot is likely not providing any substantial benefit. And yet, I have yet to hear any mention that spread from vaccinated individuals is likely a rare event (particularly if you are vaccinated and asymptomatic) in his interviews or in the media, nor have I seen any specific guidance for those that have recovered from infection. We might very well need a third shot. But at 8 months I think the data is very weak to go ahead and give one to healthy people. Given the slow mutating nature of this virus and the preliminary promising data on the development of long term immunity, my bet is that a boost every 5-10 years will be warranted, but it might be even longer. Right now though, the evidence for a third shot is very weak and we need to be focusing on getting people naïve to the infection vaccinated both here and abroad. I am not trying to Fauci bash. He has an impossible job. But given how divisive he has become he is likely doing more harm than good constantly giving interviews, particularly if he is giving direction and opinions without fully grasping the current literature.

  14. Gentlemen, some on here may recall that eating disorders took my daughter in October 2016. My mental make up is such that the crushing grief manifested itself in a certain way. I have become a bit of a loose cannon, madman (so to speak) in the eating disorder community. Helping kids get into treatment. Fighting insurance companies. Writing frequent articles on the industry. Suing the National Eating Disorder Association for fraud. Along the way, I have collaborated with quite a few and have made some wonderful connections. So, these connections and collaborations are coming together this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 11. On the 20th commemoration of 9/11, we are hosting a mental health resource fair in Addison. But, the event will have more of a "Morning in Central Park" vibe to it. The Revelers Hall Band is giving a free concert (N'awlins type jazz band), power yoga, fishing in Prestonwood Pond, games and oh yes... about 40 mental health resource tables. The Addison Fire Department is going to send an apparatus after their event concludes. The idea is to get people to come out, have some fun and oh by the way, if anyone is curious, there will be many resources and people who can help right there. So, come one come all. And, if we can even help one person, one person in need ... then, is there anything better in life than that? And, we are still looking for volunteers to help set up exhibitor's tables and chairs early Saturday and break them down after the event. For those who can help, we will throw in an invitation to come to the VIP event on Friday night. Homemade Texas Bar-B-Q, a different jazz band, adult libations. Also, a military vet who was stationed at Andrews AFB on 9/11 is going to say a few words about what it was like that day at Andrews. And afterwards ... you will be home in time to watch us pound the Hogs into mulch. ANNOUNCE-INFO-NEW2.pdf Covid Protocols2.pdf

  15. Thanks so much guys, I can't tell you how excited I am to be in partnership with y'all. I've been on the Texas Internets since Hornfans was the 800 pound gorilla before Wheeler and Agnor split, and have enjoyed the hell out of the 20 years of community that I've had, staying in touch with UT through law school and then marriage, having a family, and maybe even growing up a little bit. I met Paul through working together sponsoring his podcast, and gained a really good and genuine friend, and someone I'm proud to work with. His community, of which I'm sure there is an overlap of EGAT listeners and IT readers here on Surly has just been amazing to work with and I look forward to working with people here. Thank you so much for the community building you guys have done. What you can expect when you call or email me asking about deal points: 1) Straight shooting. I'm not going to fluff you, bluff you or try to confuse you. I'm going to tell you what we can do for you and explore the options in the market place and give you options to choose from. 2) Professionalism- I'm a lawyer by training, I'm pretty methodical about gathering all the data points from you to make sure you are going to get the deal that makes sense for you, and I understand and live confidentiality- nothing we talk about is ever going to be shared in the community- unless you want to share it with the community 3) Great pricing- I didn't end up where I ended up by accident. I chose to be a broker and work with the biggest broker in the country because they have the most lenders- which means the best consistent pricing in the market place. When lenders compete- you win was the old tagline. It's true- that's why we have almost 100 lenders that we can do transactions with. 4) Reinvestment in this community- The thing I'm most excited about with our sponsorship is the ability to affect positive changes for UT and for Surly. I've met some of you offline, I'm going to meet more with the Arkansas trip, and I want this to be a vibrant place. Before Burnt Endz was a thing I made a commitment to @immamacthat nobody would be more supportive and give more than @Scipioand I. We bought two of the highest level sponsorships and have committed to buy 12 spots in the TE fantasy camp that is being proposed. We plan on doing something here with those spots to promote Surly interests and make this community a better place. Part of the reason I'm so excited to go with @RGBIII and @immamac on this trip is going to be to work out the best way to use those spots in the TE camp to further this community and have the most fun. If there's anything else you guys want to see this community grow into please know that we will be first in line to help make that happen.

According to the ESPN FPI SOS link you posted: 2021: Ark - 90, Texas - 56 2020: Ark - 3, Texas - 34 2019: Ark - 24, Texas - 19 2018: Ark - 43, Texas - 4 2017: Ark - 31, Texas - 33 2016: Ark - 6, Texas - 21 2015: Ark - 7, Texas - 9 2014: Ark - 3, Texas - 11 2013: Ark - 12, Texas - 7 2012: Ark - 17, Texas - 10 2011: Ark - 39, Texas - 7 Average: Ark - 27.5, Texas - 21.1 So in the last ten years, Texas has averaged a tougher schedule and has had the outright tougher schedule 6/10 times. Your own numbers don’t back you up you uneducated turd.

  22. I don't typically frequent the cloak room, even when I was much more active in this community back when it was on the old scat board. My personal opinion is that in order to get our vaccination rates jacked up while avoiding a lot of violence we need another round of stimulus that is tied to your vaccination status. If everyone got $500+ for every household member that can prove vaccination I think you'd see a lot of hesitancy disappear overnight. We've spent so much money, what's another couple hundred billion to fully crush the pandemic and get our economy back on track?

  23. After that, we went into the parking lot with groceries. A woman in an Alabama shirt rushed over to us. "I saw that all of you were wearing Texas A&M Fightin' Texas Aggie shirts, pants, socks, and ballcaps. I just love Aggies and all the great traditions you have. I won't tell my husband, but I secretly hope our youngest goes to A&M instead of 'Bama. She's already turned down a full scholarship offer to tu. "Anyway, I just wanted to say how classy and polite all the Aggies are. I'm very upset that the SEC let in tu, but you guys will teach 'em SEC football. Your daughter is the cutest I've ever seen. "Also, can you direct me to the Sam's Club? I just can't seem to find it." She was really great. We walked her to the front door of Sam's. She wept as she thanked us. "So classy." I think she knows we're going to beat the ever livin' ever lovin' hell out of them this year.

  27. I managed to find a recast of this supposed game Arkansas played last week. ---- They have a young QB. He can run very well. He has accuracy issues and his teammates don't help him much. The OL allowed a lot of pressure and the Arkansas WRs vs Rice secondary appeared to be an even matchup. The OLs run blocking against Rice was okay. They struggled to hit the second level but they didn't give up losses and seemed to get some push. The Arkansas RBs aren't great. There were a lot of yards left on the field. Not a stretch at all to say the QB might be their best runner. The Arkansas turf also appeared pretty loose and it affected both team's RBs at times. ---- The Arkansas safeties and LBs play the run well and rally to the football. The LB corps was on a targeting-penalty rotation with 3 players out at different times of the game. No one stood out but the backups didn't have any drop off. WLB Bumper Pool (actual name) will miss the first half of our matchup. The best Arkansas player is SS Jalen Catalon. His play is a lot like BJ Foster. He's great in run support, but also gave up a 40ish yard TD on a blown coverage. Double moves were a consistent problem in man coverage, but their zone defense is really loose and had a few major busts. The secondary did pull in 3 poorly-thrown interceptions and these are what kept the game from getting really dicey for Arky. The DL was able to get a fair amount of pressure when they needed to, and they kept the second level clean to make tackles. Rice did have a few nice runs, but their offense just wasn't ever really a threat to sustain a drive on the ground.
