  1. I do not give a flying fuck about how much side trim the HC at Texas is pulling. I despise Tom Herman and told the board as much starting when the guy was rumored to be the guy, and I still thought "good for him" when the rumors about Kendra Scott surfaced. I think Charlie Strong was the worst coach in Texas history and I don't think he was "a great guy", but when I read up on him being named as the Other Man in a divorce lawsuit between a hot ass Louisville booster and her husband, I thought "fuck yeah, Chuckles, go get it". I don't condone adultery, but I don't give a shit that the HC at Texas is pulling wool. Barry Switzer is the fucking devil and I would go out of my way to risk my own life in order to take his if I was driving by and saw him walking next to a cliff. The guy fucked one of his coordinator's wives while they were all at the same hotel in Miami for the Orange Bowl. He's just a human trash heap. He also won fucking titles. Nick Saban feeds off of the blood of young orphans in order to stay young. Jimmy Johnson would fuck your mother and sister and you would still sign with that fucking guy. They won titles and in the end, that's what they're all going to remembered for by the CFB masses and media. I don't give a shit if a HC at Texas fucks the cheerleading squad, denies The Holocaust and swears allegiance to The Taliban. If the motherfucker is winning titles and running over OU, Arkansas and ATM in the process, I'll be organizing his ticker tape parades. The last 12 years have shown me where the line is actually drawn for me as a fan. Baylor and Penn State are on the other side of that line, but it turns out that Urban Meyer isn't. To each their own though.

  4. Netflix Series: sort of an Odd Couple scenario with Urbs and Coach O each out of work but with tens of millions in the bank sharing a French Quarter condo and slaying ass nightly. Orgeron's a slob and Urbs is a neat-freak. They both have crazy exes. They learn from each other -- Orgeron teaches Urban how to make gumbo, and Urban teaches Orgeron how to fold t-shirts, you know, shit like that. Working title The Coonass & the Buckeye...have your people call mine and we'll do lunch.

  5. So, this just happened. Aged at around 4+ with his teethers. Look at that ass. THICCCCC.... Boys got a set of marbles on him as well. Double lung shot, made it about 50+ yards. Could have been cleaner, but not too bad. Lots of recent precip, so the tanks are back to capacity and the plots coming in nicely.

  7. BREAKING: The human remains discovered earlier in Lee County is the dried husk of Dog the Bounty Hunter. He isn't deceased. He was taking a nap. Sources within the Lee County Sheriff's Department report that the search for Brian Laundrie will continue. When pushed to explain the fetid odor of death and decay wafting from Dog's body, a forensic specialist stated "leather pants and rattlesnake skin boots are less than ideal attire for a swamp." When asked if the forensics team was disappointed that Duane Chapman is not dead they had no comment.

  8. I don’t have more than a thimbles depth understanding and won’t wade into debates on what’s more effective. My stance is based solely on the following: 1. The Venn diagram overlap of “people who are arguing for natural immunity” and “people who are searching for bullshit excuses to not get vaxxed” is a near perfect circle. 2. As far as I can tell, no one argues that getting vaxxed after COVID recovery is somehow dangerous or will hurt you. 3. It seems from a logistics point of view that giving people shots and writing down when that happened is a hell of a lot easier than tracking who got sick when or some other mishmash. It’s not hard to do this shit. I don’t know shit about vaxxes but I know a lot about negotiating with intransigent and unreasonable parties. (I am not a Surly Law dog though). And a key lesson— caving to a demand offered in bad faith is simply an invitation to surrender to more bad faith arguments, even if the initial bad faith argument could be justified if made in good faith. They treat these concessions as a reward for their unreasonable behavior. Bad faith arguments are the surest sign negotiation isn’t going anywhere but is just a stalling tactic. So yes, it is time to resort to coercion and make the cost of being unreasonable more painful than remaining intransigent.

  9. So a pitch that was outside the home plate umpire's strike zone all night and is usually called a ball by all umpires was called a ball and that's a big story. That's almost as dumb as pretending that every team in the history of baseball hasn't tried to steal signs and relay them to the batter in real time and is why the entire concept of a sign sequence with a runner on second was invented back when Armybrat played. And that using technology to do it hasn't been used for over a century from Pearce Chiles and the 1900 Phillies to Willie Mays and the 1951 Giants to Alex Cora and the 2017 Red Sox but really only the 2017 Astros did it.

  16. I think Urban Meyer is an absolute shitheel. I would also take him before he could finish completing his acceptance sentence. On a bullet. On Aaron Hernandez's bullet. And give me some fucking scandal while we're at it. The lily white level of pomp and propriety with which many patrician motherfuckers continue to think of the Texas athletics programs needs to be softened. Fuck it. Whenever Sarkisian is inevitably shown the door, whether it's soon after he disappears for a week midseason or in a couple of years after posting 3-4 consecutive 7-6 seasons, I'll still be happy to see them sign a fully scandalized Urban Meyer at 60 years of age. Adding to the glorious prospect of winning multiple national titles and recruiting like the fucking program should recruit, it will be awesome to watch a bunch of you hillbillies cybersob about it on this board. Of course, I'm sure they won't go after him, so I'm actually prepared to get on the Texas Offseason 2024 thread and cheer on whatever new mediocrity they hire until he shits himself a couple of times that September while the board decries roster depth and talent due to the Mack Brown era, I mean, the Charlie Strong era, I mean the Tom Herman era ... no, that still isn't right ... oh yeah, the Steve Sarkisian era.

  22. I think I've shared some of this here before, but not all of it. Many of you know from this thread that we were recording an album when the pandemic hit. For several reasons, its lingered over the course of time since, but we finally have it at the goal line. What I'm pasting below is the final mixes and track list we've agreed on and the artwork that still has a few tweaks to come, mainly with title as it appears at the bottom. This still needs to be mastered, then I am going to try and shop it to a label for release, but I will release it myself if I can't find any takers. If anybody knows any labels that may be interested, please let me know who and I'll reach out. There will be a small run pressed on vinyl. I don't expect any hits or anything from it, I just want to document something that I am very proud to have created and been a part of. It was a learning experience and I'm already writing for the next project with the bass player. That project will be quite different. I know there's another thread for this. I may cross post there after mastering, but this is the thread I have the longest history with.

  23. No. Once it became evident that Meyer wasn't the guy, I was worried about whoever it was that they were going to hire. The rumor mill went dry, so all I knew was that Herman was gone. When it was leaked the night before the Sarkisian announcement came out, I was in so much disbelief that I dismissed the rumor out of hand. I thought Sarkisian was a terrible fucking hire, but then I started getting some confidence based on the staff he was bringing in. 9 months later, yeah, well, whatever the fuck this is, it isn't good. I didn't dislike the premise of Jeff Traylor, I was just dismissive of it. He was never seriously considered once word came out about the search in the aftermath. It turns out, he might be a really fucking good HC. I assume he'll wind up somewhere in which his team is regularly on our schedule, he regularly beats and outrecruits us, and we get to listen to the guys at IT shout from the rooftops that they told us all so. Why will that happen? Because the last 12 years seems to indicate that we were put here as fans in order to be punished.

  25. No. In fact answering a ringing phone is an intelligence test most people fail. If it is important to them they'll leave a message. If it is important to you, call back. Never call back.

  26. “Just yesterday, I had a man come up to me. A very big, burly man. He had tears in his eyes. He asked me, “Mr President”, I am still the president to these people, they know how the election was stolen, god love them. He said, “Mr President, why are the communists China party and the slimeball libs trying to steal Thomas Jefferson from us?” Tears we’re streaming down his face. This was a man who had seen action in all the wars, he had shot many krauts on the beaches at Norway, and yet he couldn’t stop crying at the thought of Thomas Jefferson being cancelled as the writer of our great Constitution. Sad.”

  27. This “blown call” was borderline. It’s hilarious that the media is working up a narrative for Boston clicks. The ump was bad but it went both ways. Shit happens.

  34. A close friend, actually the lawyer who introduced me IRL to @THUJONE back when my dad was wrongly diagnosed (thank God) with mesothelioma, was riding his gravel bike on a remote county road near Colmesneil recently when the welds on his fork failed (tl;dr - bike had been recalled as faulty) and he had a life flight/oh shit/call the surgeons situation. The whole reason his group switched to gravel bikes and started riding on extreme rural roads was to avoid traffic, getting in his >7K annual miles without getting run over was becoming increasingly difficult. Last week we were discussing Waller Co. and agreed that hostility towards cyclists is a microcosm of contemporary America. Society has, on average, become more hateful. This isn't about cycling, it's about citizenship.

Bars are packed. People are out and about. A lot are vaccinated. Some aren’t. But people are allowed to do fun stuff and they are.
