  1. Spoke with one of the Players today. These guys are still actually bought in to what’s going on. Josh had to go.

  4. You don't even pay into burnt ends and talk about NIL like a child. He's not picking on you it's just naive and a waste of time to follow through on. I have a legitimate way to pay players, have the contacts to make it happen quickly and have the infrastructure to provide an easy way for people to get involved, yet all I'm getting is troll posts and a bunch of bullshit in a thread that I made about it. The problem with NIL is everyone wants to talk a big game, and no one actually wants to be the PAYING the players. I put 70k of my own money on the line to get it going and it's honestly the only reason that Texas is relevant in any NIL conversations right now, not just in public but at an internal AD level. Show up with some cash and I will fucking walk you in the door to get it to the player of your choosing. Until then shut the fuck up and stop trying to act like you know what's up on a message board. There are some sites out there that actually do have good contributors that do the diligent work it takes to pump out a real story. I don't advocate for people not subscribing to content they think is worth the money. If you pay those places for "scoop" fuck right off though. There is 0 scoop on any of these sites.

  12. This years opening weekend was a little bitter sweet as this was the first time going down since our "ranch foreman" had passed. A little rough around the edges would be quite the understatement when describing him but he was a great guy. We always said he was born 100 years too late as he enjoyed the primitive life. Buddy (his nickname) was working at my dad's shop about 25 years ago when we got our place and as a bachelor with not much else going on, he started coming down with my dad and I to help out. The man absolute hated firewood and cut it every chance he could. After that the first few trips, he was basically a part of the family coming down every trip with us. Even started to live down at the ranch after retiring doing a little bit of the work through the week. His stories would amaze my friends and I from high school through college and to this day. Crude, degenerative, and a lot of just downright illegal stories were shared with us over the campfires. He passed away doing what he loved, working at the ranch bagging corn to fill the feeders. He will be remembered over all the campfires moving forward. Back to the hunting. We had seen a buck on camera for a few months that we knew was a shooter but just being able to see him was the major question. He was pretty elusive on the cameras, always moving around and showing up at different times. Dad picked his stand to hunt Saturday morning and I went to the other where we had been seeing him the most. It was just an amazing hunt that morning seeing a ton of animals. Had a few hot does in heat so the bucks were primed up. Neither of us saw our buck but just an amazing hunt for everyone out in the stands that morning. My friend who came down ended up take a large boar hog with quite the set of cutters on him. Saturday evening my dad was feeling down and headed back home so I hunted the same stand as Saturday morning and put a few buddies in the stand my dad hunted as we have been seeing hogs there every evening. Started off as another great hunt with lots of deer out and about until around 5 pm when I saw a buck enter down the sendero about 250 yards down. I had a feeling but a quick check with the binoculars and knew this was the buck. He darted into the brush and spend the next 30 minutes darting across senderos and back into the brush slowly making his way towards the stand. Since 2012 I've only shot culls and does so my adrenalin was racing and his slow approach was not helping ease it. Finally he stepped out about 70 yards away facing me head on. After about a minute of presenting no shot, he started to run forward to rush off a few smaller buck and gave me with a shot at about 40 yards. Ran off about 20 yards before falling over. 19 3/8" wide with a kicker on his G2 and little 1 1/2" nub right at the base of his horn also. Taped out at 158 7/8" making him official largest buck to date. Buddy was looking over me that day.

  14. Bobby Burton just said something on his latest Youtube segment that really makes a lot of sense. And that is, Tom Herman wanted to build a roster that was capable of competing in a phone booth. In contrast, Sark wants a roster that can compete in space. He and Nahlin also commented that on defense they are insistent on teaching these guys how to play their scheme and instilling that know how even though their scheme requires high IQ and athletic LB which we don't have. I'm ok with a longer term build. For better or worse, I really hope this staff succeeds. I'd like to have a coach I like and respect and for me that's Sark. I hated Herman and although I liked Charlie, he clearly wasn't the right fit. Our roster sucks, there are no 2 ways about it. We need a reboot and between the portal and recruiting I think we'll get it.

  15. It’s more from the coaches and support staff. They can’t promise anything but they can say if asked “Jatavion Sanders received 10k last year and they intend to keep the program going every year”. Kids are more reserved, they may bring it up if asked directly but otherwise they keep it close to the vest especially as to not cause trouble with their other teammates. I’m sure there are a couple people in the locker room currently that wouldn’t want the fact that Nate Hatter is making more NIL money than current starters. Which is why publicizing NIL deals is always the smart thing to do and why we try and promote it as much as possible. These last three pages would have not even occurred if Jaleel Skinner was committed in the class. To address others in the thread bitching and moaning about NIL without Burnt Ends flair, firstly get your mind right or stop bitching. You can’t bitch about NIL without being willing to give $10 a month to something that’s actually worked. Again, the burnt ends was always intended to be a proof of concept from @immamac and my dumb brain into the brains of smarter people with more resources. We chose TEs because it’s the smallest room and when crowd sourcing and starting from zero it’s better to try and pay 7 guys than 18 WRs or 22 OL. 10k to 7 TEs sounds better 3k to 22 OL and is a much more eye opening number. If we had more bandwidth to promote it I am sure it would get even bigger but losses and time has dampened that quite a bit. Sark also mentioned it was the second most important position in his offense, who’s to say if we had better TEs that the offense wouldn’t be running better? How do we get better TEs? You get the picture. We are also working on something MUCH MUCH bigger than this but it takes time. First steps have been taken and the ball is rolling just slowly and most importantly methodically. Death Star wasn’t built overnight and this would weaponize the NIL bigger than any other school outside of Oregon. Things seem dark right now, no one has been more negative than I have but when people get mad instead of apathetic change can come quickly…y’all just need to hope people get mad. If you have interest in helping in the future with NIL, hell even if it’s something as simple as being a gopher in Austin when I can’t get up there to do something or if you are a lawyer, CPA, work in advertising, graphic design, IT guy or would like to help fundraising please hit my DMs. We won’t need your help at this exact moment till certain steps have been fulfilled but I promise, we WILL need your help. Oh and the Burnt Ends is a baller fucking name

  16. i think they are about to fuck around and find out. mack was easy for deloss. 10 win seasons, one can rest on his laurels following a national championship, even though so many of us had issues with him. beating ou, winning big xii championships, etc, we didn't do that so well. but he still finally brought the trophy home. he also brought the dollars home. "come early, be loud, stay late, wear orange" was fucking brilliant. and it was occurring at a time when austin was growing up. and it also occurred at a time when half the crowd, maybe, wore orange. not sure that we've ever been loud, outside a couple of games, but the sentiment was great. he didn't just bring coaching, he brought a fucking marketing plan. that's why deloss loved him so much. mack made him his fortune, and won a national championship beside. should have won two more, if he was a good head coach. but he wasn't. he was a brilliant marketer. he convinced great players to come here. he would sometimes hold them back, but sometimes let them succeed. it was a love-hate relationship with the fans, because he never lost after ou, but he would lose against ou. just look at the trophy case. he built a mystique. he brought texas back to the forefront, not with coaching, but with marketing. he put players in the nfl, because he convinced nfl quality players to come here. but make no mistake, he wasn't an elite coach. he was a marketing guy. now we are left with that legacy. we attach our psyche to marketing. "texas, we're baa-aack". we were never really here. not in my lifetime. ou has owned us, our athletic department as far as football goes, is a fucking joke. we've hired the same coaching resume 3 times in a row now, and i was a charlie strong defender (recovered). we let the goddamn alumni run the goddamn athletic department, and that really is our legacy. thread title is "this is who steve sarkisian is." we've hired the same goddamn coaching resume three times in a row. thing is, we've never really had any kind of coordinated coaching search, and that's the real problem here. it's a goddamn train wreck every time, because houston alumni disagree with dallas, or one has the ascendancy over the other. they are trying to prove themselves to one another rather than hire the right fucking guy in an orderly manner. yall hate herbstreit for saying it's a cesspool here, but our money folks have a way outsized influence, way more than other schools. alabama big money guys put a whisper in an AD's ear. a texas alum hires a goddamn ad agency. that's our biggest problem, i reckon. it's not "getting lucky" hiring a guy. it's that the hiring process is fucked. we got lucky with mack, but it wasn't because of a professional hiring process. it was because a certain part of our alumni with a certain amount of influence at the time wanted him. i'm stunned, i'm pissed, i'm no longer surprised.

  17. Mike Roach should be fired and someone should whip that fat fuck's ass if he is typing anything, anywhere, about Ewers right now. Motherfucker. Just shut the fuck up for a little while, you stupid fucking slob. Cue the other fatfuck at Orangebloods going all in from here. Texas is like the Veep version of college football. The incompetence involved at this point is staggering. STAG-GER-ING.

  22. I would much rather watch a team with an 7-8 win ceiling work there ass off and get better throughout the season than the absolute quit we all witnessed last week. Sark may or may not last 4 years (doesn't look great right now) but there really isn't an option. This roster has to be blown the F up.

  30. Sark has had 5 months of practice. That’s virtually nothing if you are looking for talent development. Getting better takes many, many more reps and it starts with fundamentals that don’t even have much of anything to do with strategy and playing the defense as called or the offense as called. The kind of repetition it takes to develop as a player takes 1-2 years, easily. It’s why freshmen rarely play in an established program. folks talking about talent, are you not listening? The top of the 2018 class is gone. We don’t have 4 and 5 star players as seniors. 2019 class was trashed too. We are playing walk-ons at The University of Texas for crying out loud. Our talent is 3 star, at best. That’s Iowa State *at best* EXCEPT the ISU program has continuity. I don’t know about the second half problems. I don’t know if Sark became a different coach getting sober and coaching for Saban. but the first two points - it takes a shit ton of time to develop players and 5 months isn’t enough and our talent is shit are things I do know. I’m willing to take a wait and see on Sark as a coach based on what I do know and recognizing what I don’t know.

  35. I have taken on the responsibility of helping my very good Australian buddy learn the ropes on deer hunting. It really is very rewarding and fun to be a guide to someone that is so new to something that I enjoy so much. Was able to do some target shooting this weekend and we did some more prep work at the stand. It was his first time shooting anything other than an air rifle, and he did great. I know sometimes you get a greenhorn with a rifle and they just get the yips but I am fully confident in his ability to put the shot where it needs to be when the moment arises. It is extremely rewarding to watch someone fall in love with hunting, and I am just hopefully I can put him on to a decent buck. Congrats to all the surly folks who got it done this weekend.
