  1. Just wanted to chime in.. don't know where Ewers is going, but I do know who Cashcar is. It's either my wife or my mom. The whining is such a beating

  2. Well if they're as right as they were about Chris Beard not leaving Tech for Texas I like our chances.

  5. So to be clear, a 1.000 QB recruit hits the portal due to the jammed room at tOSU (makes sense) He wants to make a quick decision before signing day to bring more talent with him (makes sense) He can go basically anywhere in the country (makes sense) ...and people think he's going to go to a school that has a first time head college coach, in the big 12, without a current OC, whose recruiting is currently 7th in the big 12 and 48th overall in thr composite? (makes less than zero sense) This seems like the biggest smoke screen in history. I can see him picking a ton of other schools vs Texas, I get that. But Texas fucking Tech? When his options include LSU, USC, OU, A&M and Texas? He cares about earning money via NIL clearly and you think he's going to TEXAS TECH? The football board is leaking all over the place. TEXAS TECH? Why would Riley Dodge leave one of the best high school football jobs in the country for TEXAS TECH?! That shit isn't happening. Edit: so, to be clear, he loved Riley Dodge so much he left HS early but sure now he's following him to TEXAS FUCKING TECH?!?!

  8. Keep in mind. If Ewers comes here and Sark has him putting big numbers and has us winning 9-10 games, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Manning’s interest grow. Ewers could and probably is planning on going pro the minute he’s eligible. That means Manning would essentially be the starter and get starter reps the spring after his first season here. Basically he would simply have to wait 1 semester to have the keys handed to him. Ohio state had no idea what they had in Stroud and Miller when Ewers committed. The guy thought he had a fair shot at the starting position but quickly realized Stroud is a stud with more experience in that system. He’s not getting any reps till Stroud gets hurt or leaves. He would walk in and be the starter the minute he sets foot on campus. He’s also seen what Sark can do with JAGs. Anyone watching our offense saw that this offense will be killer if we can get a decent QB. Our QBs missed so many easy throws to wide open WRs. He also knows he gets Bijan and Worthy, two elite skill guys. ou is in rebuild mode, so we should have the advantage in that match up with all their coaches and talent leaving. Ewers gets to come in and be the “savior”. The guy that got us back to winning and beating ou. If he’s a true Longhorn like he said he was as a kid, no way he even remotely considers aggy. That would be a slap to his parents who are Longhorn grads.

  9. If he’s a bust then so be it. This program needs a perception change regionally and nationally and this would help a fuck ton. Plus he’ll get other kids to sign here as well.

  13. all negative space stuff. none of that is building coherent policy. tax cuts mean we have less money to do things. those tax cuts were also sold as a bullshit middle class panacea when in real life, we (in the middlish class) got one year of tax cuts while the rich and corporations are still benefitting. negative space. the wall. the last president we had with a coherent immigration policy was george w bush. and he got swatted because of it. but trump made it wrse (and i'm combining your second and fourth points here for brevity), and inhumane, because for him, the cruelty is the point. negative space. trade war with china - what exactly did we accomplish there? nothing. just feelings about communists. negative space. please know i'm not arguing with you. i'm just trying to highlight my point that the man had no real positive policy overall. of course, when influenced by celebrities, he could do a nice thing for a guy. but aside from that kind of influence, he sought negative people who encouraged him to do negative, cruel things. and he delighted in the feeling that gave him. he's a truly terrible person. and back to my original point, defending terrible behavior by a terrible person is exhausting. so his supporters left the forum. hell, i had something similar with my father in law. when i had him cornered, and he got pissed, we had to meet up later and have a gentleman's agreement not to discuss politics. i've known the man two decades, and we've had plenty of disagreements that were amicable. but here comes trump, and suddenly we can't talk politics? it's because the man is indefensible. and his control over the republican party is also indefensible, as is the behavior of the members of the party. negative space, man.

  18. as a matter of fact, this is why people who totally didn't vote for trump republicans left this forum in the first place. they were called out for actual policy shit. they had nothing, like ag with kids here. so they left. it's one of the more frustrating things about the trump era. at least with reagan, bush sr, and bush w, we had some illusion of policy. they were trying to do things. and hell, most of the time, at the time, i agreed with those things. trump didn't try to do things. he tried to undo things. that was his sole purpose. undo the obama administration, because of a white house press correspondents' dinner. he spent four years trying to undo obama's birthplace before even entering the race. then he was humiliated. so he made it his sole purpose to undo everything the man did. he's a negative space. he's a black hole. and to be a republican supporter today, you have to essentially be a nihilist. must be exhausting.

  19. He got to Ohio State and wasnt even given reps until about 3-4 weeks in. Then the reps he did get were largely worthless. His reclassification was difficult for the Ohio State coaching staff and he is definitely good enough to start at Texas USC Tech and TAMU right now. This is the dumbest take in this thread. At least Diggler is just saying we can't have nice things. You are saying that a prospect of Trevor Lawrence and Vince Young caliber who reclassified has bust written all over him. STFU.

  20. Honestly, I think the proliferation of civilian variants of the AR-15 changed American gun culture for the worse. That proliferation also seemed to coincide with the deterioration of the NRA from a responsible firearm organization into a right-wing superPAC, so maybe there's a chicken/egg question there. While it is an excellent weapon system in its own right, it isn't traditionally either a target arm or a hunting arm. There are plenty of traditional gun owners, steeped in hunting, or target shooting, or even collecting, that emphasize gun safety and other aspects of responsible gun ownership that own and shoot AR-15 variants and enjoy tinkering with them. But AR-15s also brought into the fold a bunch of big truck, freedumb-loving patriot bros and their Lauren Boobert bitchez who love to shoot up beer cans and watermelons with a fucking semi-auto, 20 or 40 round center-fire rifle. Get a fucking Marlin 60/99 or Ruger 10/22 for that shit. There's a fairly large market for stupid accessories like bumpfire stocks for fuck's sake, that make them imitate automatic weapons and serve no purpose but to spray a bunch of inaccurate rounds at a high rate of fire. Pew, pew, pew. Most old-time hunters and target shooters think that's dumb as shit. I bet there are a stunning number of people that own only AR-15s and variants, and maybe a handgun or two, and nothing else. No hunting rifles, no target rifles, no target pistols, no shotguns, except maybe a "street sweeper,". And I bet, if you could measure such a thing, they're very light on gun safety education, safe storage of firearms, etc.

  21. Ewers made comments last year about why he chose to de commit from Texas along the lines that “the program had just been down for too long”. Could be his true reasoning or could just have been a convenient line to drop transferring for another reason he wanted to keep close to the vest. I guess the question is whether Sarkisian in his mind will change that trajectory, and if he feels strongly enough that’s the case to take a chance he wasn’t willing to take barely more than a year ago. Or maybe his one year at Ohio State was enough to convince him that he needed to downgrade his expectations of himself in order to get on the field. There’s a lot of data points along the spectrum between “bust” and “generational talent”. Touted generational talent out of high school has also produced on field results all over the spectrum. Trevor Lawrence was mentioned earlier. Trevor Lawrence went to one of the hottest two programs at the time (Clemson) and proved too good to keep off the field as a true freshman that by mid-season he sent starter Kelly Bryant to the bench. Here at Texas we’ve had a large sample of highly ranked high school QBs from Chris Simms to Vince Young to Garret Gilbert. How did that work out? It took Vince the better part of two seasons to prove undeniably that he should be on the field against the likes of Chance Mock. Simms was decent, but never lived up to the hype. Gilbert ended up being cuttable. Life is like a box of chocolates, but if your program is hitting the all-time lows as this Texas program has been for quite some time, you’ve lost the ability to have your pick of the best pickings available. If an opportunity like Ewers falls in your lap for whatever reason, you take it regardless of repercussions for the Manning recruitment, etc.

  23. Chris Simms went 11-2 and 11-2 as the starting QB at Texas capped with a 35-20 Cotton Bowl victory against Nick Saban's LSU team. Decent is an understatement.

  29. Looks like Ewers dad wasn’t bullshitting. If Sarkisian fails to land Ewers, he should be fired before Christmas. Just end it and start over. If he lands Ewers, he gets an all-time get out of jail free card and I get $1000.
