  1. In 1957, the University of Texas villainously seduced Texas Tech University and lured it to the Southwest Conference, thus striking the blow that directly led to the disintegration of the once-proud Border Conference. A sort of canary-in-the-coal-mine, this is the first instance of what became an unscrupulous pattern of brazen conference-icide committed by the University. UT’s Machiavellian, ruthless cunning over the decades - during which it repeatedly took the shameful, disgusting act of adapting to the economic realities of major college sports - is primarily…nay, solely responsible for the cruel and unjust treatment of victimized ex-affiliated institutions.
  2. Trading Kenny Lofton for Ed Taubensee is unforgivable. Losing Neris is whatever. His results were good last year, but the underlying metrics suggest the regression is coming.
  3. I suppose this is what you do when you look at, you know, the actual rosters of the teams who will be playing in 305 days and you don’t like what you see. Well, not what you do; what they do.
  4. Don’t disagree with this, but I like that Morris is bringing Z Robinson with him from the Rams. He’s supposed to be very well-regarded, and hopefully he is bringing a McVeigh-esque scheme to Atlanta…I think that would be a good situation for Bijan. (Of course, they still need a QB.)
  5. I know they’re good. If you want to call it “tiresome” instead of “boring,” that’s fine, but those words mean the same thing.
  6. If I were betting on the spreads I just saw, I’d easily take KC (+4.5) and DET (+7.5). I think both games will be close. I haven’t had a favorite NFL team since 1995, so I don’t really care that much who wins or loses, but KC is starting to get boring like NE was for 20 years, and LJ is fun to watch, so hoping to see BAL win. And I guess I’m pulling for SF because I like Shanahan and their general scheme/style, but DET is entertaining too, and their crazy sonofabitch coach is fun with his risk-taking style.
  7. Murphy is starting to get more R1 attention it seems. He will probably test very well. I’m starting to think he’ll be the highest pick among UT players, with a good chance of going in the first.
  8. I’m not going to go look it up, but I’d guess that it is going to become significantly more prevalent in the era of the portal/NIL.
  9. Yeah, could be a good situation if he can bring an OC from the Rams, who has been working with McVeigh. Like Ryans did with Slowick from SF. But yeah, it would have been nice for Bijan to go to a team with a QB.
  10. I remember being something like 7 years old, reading the backs of baseball cards, and realizing that maybe pitcher wins was kind of a dumb stat. It seemed quite obvious that it is heavily impacted by events well outside the realm of a pitcher’s control. Again, I was 7. Imagine being paid to cover pro football for decades and still believing that team wins is the stat that best indicates how well the QB played.
  11. This pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about almost everything I see on the internet.
  12. Cool but at what high school has he worked, and what does he know about lifting?
  13. Reminder that Texas had zero players drafted following Sark’s first season.
  14. That was the beauty of MIL’s posts - they were the most mundane things and she inadvertently and invariably would type them out in verse form, so they read like poetry, but the subject matter was always stuff like the nice flowers you could get at Costco or whether anyone had any recommendations for garage door repairs. And she’d “like” her own stuff and respond to herself.
  15. My wife and I took all my MIL’s Facebook posts and made it into a book, which we gave out as Xmas gifts one year.
