  1. Exactly. Russia’s idea of a security threat is a country that won’t allow themselves to be controlled politically and economically. Today’s “buffer states” eventually become “security threats” when the people get tired of eating Russian shit sandwiches. So they have to be taken over. Now they are “border regions”. Naturally, these regions need some buffer states for security reasons. This is how Russian imperialism works. Yes, Russia has been invaded a few times over the last 300 years. Cry me a fucking river. So has everyone else.
  2. Russia should do what every other country does and use their military to defend their own borders. You don’t have to attack and take over your neighbors house to make sure no one steals your car out of the garage. I imagine the 200,000+ dead and wounded in Ukraine probably would have been able to defend Belgorod. The idea that Moscow needs buffer states for their own security is pure Putin/FSB propaganda.
  3. Explain to me, if you will, why Russia “needs” buffer states for their security? They don’t need shit. Fuck rationalizing and sympathizing why they attack their neighbors. I’m more confused why people pos-repped this post.
  4. Even if the does eventually go through - which still doesn’t seem to be certain - Monahan needs to be fired immediately. Supposedly the PGAT is a player run organization so I certainly hope there is something in their bylaws that would prevent him from profiting off this shit.
  5. Prigozhin is operating like a CIA asset right now.
  6. The important part is that everyone went home safely to their families. Except for the dead victims I guess.
  7. I mean, someone threw the flotation device for him. Probably would have been a lot more helpful to advise against jumping overboard in the first place though.
  8. I think Moscow Central Clinical Hospital is the last place on earth I’d want to be “cared” for if I was Lukashenko.
  9. Seamaster is about to get banned for posting this slander on TexAgs.
  10. We’re going to have the deepest WR room in a very long time next year. We could run a legit 5 WR set with Worthy, Mitchell, Whittington, Neyor, and Cook. It’s unlikely that we will considering JT Sanders may be our second best receiver but regardless, it’s going to be nice having this amount of talent to work with.
  11. I’d also take an unpaid factory job over an unpaid stay in the gulag.
  12. Crazy video of a Russian soldier surrendering to a Ukrainian drone in Bakhmut. I’d recommend watching the whole thing.
  13. It’s starting to feel like the Russian occupation could collapse much faster than I thought was possible.
  14. I’m starting to think that the whole “resistance to providing XXXX weapon system” is part of a big act. The decision to provide the weapon system is decided ahead of time behind closed doors. Then someone (Ukraine usually, but maybe Poland or some other European nation) “proposes” that the weapons could be sent. Then another nation (France / US / Germany) plays the bad cop and “resists”. This buys time to work out the logistics and training while also gauging Putin’s reaction. As long as nothing crazy happens it’s all systems go. We’ve seen this with Javelins, MLRS, tanks, Patriots, and now jets.
  15. I continue to be amazed at the overwhelming destructive power of HIMARS.
  16. Putin expected / hoped that China would pledge to support him militarily in addition to increasing economic and political support. What he fails - or refuses - to see is that it doesn’t really benefit China for Russia to “win”. It wouldn’t be a net negative for them, per se, but ultimately it doesn’t benefit Xi if Putin manages to capture <random Ukrainian city>. What DOES benefit him is for Putin to become more and more dependent on China as their only major trading partner and access to the outside world. The longer Russia is engaged in a fight in Ukraine, the more one-sided the power balance in the relationship becomes. Not to mention that it keeps NATO’s eyes on the west rather than the east. Xi certainly is not going to risk western sanctions and his own military readiness by depleting his stocks of munitions so that Putin can realize his fantasy of rebuilding the USSR. From a strategic perspective, the best thing russia could do for themselves is retreat from Ukraine NOW, turn over war criminals, and begin the (multi-decade) process of trying to repair ties with Europe. Because China is not going to treat them well.
  17. Olympic sized swimming pool construction services.
  18. My understanding is that he is still very popular in the nationalist and “milblogger” community due to his role in the initial formation of the L/DPR and Crimean annexation. Putin may worry that eliminating him may alienate his biggest source of domestic support. But I agree - I would have assumed that he would have jumped out of a window a long time ago.
  19. I think we all know why nothing was done despite adequate warning signs. The executives and large account holders at SVB ran in the right social circles and possibly/probably donated to the right politicians. Regulators never fuck with “their people”. It’s pretty reliable that the only ones who are consistently under scrutiny are the poors.
