  1. There's still time...but we've been pretty on top of it. Yeah, really looking forward to the game. I presume it won't be 40 degrees in Stillwater like it will be Ames... It fucking snowed this morning in Sioux City.
  2. Agreed, but I wonder if the fact that there are non P5 AAU institutions would be consequential to any Presidents( I presume probably not...)? But you're right, in my limited knowledge of collaboration happening at ISU when I was there it was with KSU, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin...so regional rather than conference affiliated.
  3. Tech gonna regret not starting Columbi.
  4. One of my favorite records is Thurston Moore's Psychic Hearts. It's outstanding from start to finish. IMO it would land in the top half of SY albums. It was released in Spring of '95 and Sonic Youth released Washing Machine that Fall so I think a lot of focus went to WM (deservedly so). Maybe not so much ignored but overshadowed by WM. It was reissued in '06 and has subsequently gotten critical praise. If you dig Sonic Youth you will love this album.
  5. The presumptive successor to Purdy is Hunter Dekkers. Big Dutch kid from NW Iowa. Holds the Iowa state records for passing yards and TDs.
  6. We love Matt, and will keep him for as long as we can. And he does get it...but by "it" I mean coaching at ISU. UT and ISU couldn't be more different with regard to football. We have no expectations, your AD budget dwarfs ours, your state is the center of the high school football universe, your BMDs make ours look like the small time tight ass farmers they are. Matt has nothing to do with UT except for making ISU into an opponent that's not a laughable waste of time. Surely Longhorns fans can see the value of ISU being good. All the criticism of Campbell and ISU in here are 100% valid but so is the OPs point.
  7. Yes. TCU never led and didn't really seem like they could. And they scored a TD at :00. Regardless, Campbell obviously sucks. He lost to LA, has never beaten Iowa and also lost to Northern Iowa once. Fucking loser.

    BOOMER CYCLONE!!!
  9. My parents bought me a bitchin' Kamara with no insurance to match. So if he happens to run you down, please don't leave a scratch.

  11. Thank you for your kind words. We've got some really troubling problems on the OL and in special teams. Boy am I glad I turned it off and finished binging Cobra Kai.
  12. You're goddamned right I am. And the Cyclones better be too. The Cajuns aren't a tune up tomato can, they're damn good (or were last season).
  13. What's funny is that Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is actually what bounced AHM from the list for me too. I love San Tropez and Seamus (especially with Seamus on Live at Pompeii). Imho, There's more weak tracks on The Wall than strong ones. But I might have a better opinion of it if I'd been old enough to see it live and in it's original stage form...
  14. Yeah, all three are loops that end as they begin and just brilliantly crafted as albums . I HAVE to listen to Animals in it's entirety. To be honest with regard to PF: Beginning after Atom Heart Mother and before The Wall I like every single song, that includes the Obscured By Clouds soundtrack. Everything. I named one record but really could've named Meddle, OBC, Dark Side, WYWH, and Animals.
  15. ISU reversing course. No fans in the stands for the opener. https://cyclonefanatic.com/2020/09/iowa-state-announces-reversal-of-plans-to-have-fans-in-the-stands-for-season-opener/
  16. We picked the absolute worst time to hire Donnie Duncan. At the exact same moment (in 1979) that Iowa began their ascendancy with Hayden, we nose-dived. But even if Earle had stuck around he would've demanded shovels in the ground constantly (as Fry did at Iowa) and more money than he was likely to get out of Bob Parks (ISU's president at the time). So who knows...
  17. About five minutes after Woody punched that kid from Clemson, lolz. tOSU hired Earle after they fired Hayes following the '78 Gator Bowl.
  18. Two words, Earle Bruce. The Earle Bruce Cyclones beat UNL in Ames in '76 and then went TO Lincoln in '77 and beat Nebraska in their revenge game, 24-21.
