  1. I Shouldn't Be Alive I randomly clicked on this show. I'm only a few episodes in, but It is solid. Definitely worth checking out. It's a UK Production depicting events where humans toughed it out against a shit ton of odds (guy gets lost in a blizzard with his young wife and newborn in an old pickup, a single-person, single-engine plane crash in the Zimbabwe bush, Khmer Rouge kidnapping of volunteer Brit in Cambodia). "The show was compiled using footage of interviews and graphic reenactments of the situation. The main focus of the show is the reenactment, with narration and commentary by the participant(s). Each episode also explained how the person(s) survived the ordeal against typical odds and outlined the decisions they had made that kept them alive."
  2. If your pals are also in the Young Alumni sections you shouldn't have too much trouble linking up.
  3. Just finished my Young Alumni stint last year. I believe those seats are pretty much around section 128 or 129 (upper level, east side). Pretty awesome seats. As long as you keep renewing you will have those seats for 4 seasons. The donation amount bumps up $50(?) each season as you continue to renew. I thought it was a really solid deal. This year, I moved over to the west side sec 104. Meant to add: The Young Alumni seats are assigned so not general admission free-for-all.
  4. Supernova in the East VI dropped today, for those interested...
  5. Prime Picanha Roast S&P and whatever rub you want Indirect at 250 to 120 internal temp Pull and rest while cranking up direct heat to 500 Seared direct 90 seconds/side 1.5 hour total cook time. Holy hell this came out good. Such a kickass cut of meat. No chimichurri sauce, just some mashed potatoes on the side.
  6. Good lord, those photos. Wishing the Ehlinger family peace. Terrible, terrible news.
  7. Kick fucking ass
  8. First boil in the books. Bugs turned out damn good. Could have used a bit more spice and soak time but still tasty as hell. Basically, followed instructions from multiple sources on the interwebs. Nothing to it. Quality Seafood came through - I think we had maybe 3 dead out of a 30 lb sack. Sprang for the Cowboy's Crawfish Washer - worked out nicely. Looking forward to the next one. By the way, highly recommend Pecan Smoked Andouille from Stuffed on 620. Killer.
  9. Well, shit. Now, I feel like a cheapskate. I did pay it (clicked too fast before I realized it was there). Agree that it went to a good cause.
  10. I'm hosting a small neighborhood boil this weekend. First time - very stoked. Hitting Quality Seafood Sat morning - single 30lb sack at $3.75. *Be careful ordering/checking out - their cart auto filled 15% gratuity
  11. For all their next-level actors, musicians, military history, and storytellers, I find it surprizing that we have not seen an epic Battle of Trafalgar series from the Brits. The ending writes itself. Oct 21 1805.
  12. Agree with others...Murder Among Mormons is a very solid documentary. Worthwhile.
  13. Saw the previews for Sharp Objects a year or so ago. Dismissed the hell out of it. Was looking for something new to watch and I would see it mentioned. One night, I said fuck it, and threw it on. Southern Gothic, and dark. There is a hint of Se7en, David Lynch, some two-part series of Quantum Leap in there. And a dose of Charles Dickens. I enjoyed it.
  14. It has been years - I want to say I listened to it for free, but I'm not sure where. I've had Spotify since I think 2013 or so but I just checked and it's not available there, at the moment. Currently listening to Supernova in the East there. According to Reddit, you can pay 10 bucks and download Wrath of the Khans off Dan's website ($1.99 per episode). Well worth the money - I haven't heard anything from him that isn't top notch. Good luck. And a big thank you to everyone for the recs. Really appreciate it.
  15. Awesome - that's what I'm looking for
  16. Yeah, Mongols was amazing. Absolutely. I listened to most of WWI but need to go back and finish it. I don't think it was completed, at the time - also fantastic. I loved Band of Brothers and I think I trailed off at the beginning of The Pacific for some reason. I have HBO Max, so that is at the top of the list. I watched Thin Red Line the other night and thought it was damn good. Hadn't seen it since it was released in theaters (1998). I'm not one for the kitschy Hollywood stuff but I've been wanting to check out Pearl Harbor (I've seen it before - when it was first released in 1991), just for the action sequences. There are classics like Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) that I plan to check out, as well. I haven't seen Midway (2019), so I want to check that out even if it looks like another Hollywood glossing over of events. I want to check out Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) and Bataan (1943). I might have seen those as a kid but can't remember anything about them.
  17. Randomly started listening to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History: Supernova in the East. Holy shit - it's damn good. I've listened to a few of his other works, but it's been years. This particular podcast is astonishing - superb storytelling about a subject, I am finding, I knew less about than I thought I did. I am interested in watching some companion films as I move through the podcast. Would appreciate your recommendations.
  18. Thought Night Stalker was really good - excellent production. But I saw a massive opportunity lost, as far as Ramirez' background is concerned. They hinted at it here and there but never shed light on the guy's origin which, from what I understand, was horrific and exceedingly important to the story and events. Then again, does one want to be entertained or depressed? Maybe the producers made the right call, who knows...
  19. Damn proud of the Washington FT tonight. Hell of an effort. Heinicke stepped up and had a chance against the best in the game. What a badass.
  20. Hell fucking yes. Washington Football Team - your NFC East 2020 champions
  21. Would love to see a Colt-led Giants team make some noise. Holy fuck that would be awesome
