  1. Some peek through going on in Oak Hill. Feel the heat then put you glasses on.
  2. You can't stop it, you can only hope to contain it.
  3. To quote Wally Cleaver: "You are more complicated than a girl's purse."
  4. Just in case. It was nice knowing all of you assholes.
  5. Awesome. This #2 for me.
  6. I forgot what this thread was about.....originally.
  7. OK Surly 1% road bikers, it's time to show your quality by donating to end MS in our lifetimes. I had a good response last year for this deal so I expect no less this year from such a well heeled group. I've been training hard and working through a groin injury, so the least you can do is throw in a little for the cause. Thanks assholes. Send me a PM for my rider link for this year's MS 150. Anything helps and there is a custom amount box too. They take almost all forms of payment except Diners Club.
  8. In Soviet Russia, boat takes you.
  9. Seems like something Creed from The Office would say.
  10. Reminds me of the Jim Rome paraphrase of Maurice Clarrett, former Ohio St. running back who was thrown in jail for something I don't remember: Clarett went before the court to try to get his sentenced reduced claiming, according to Rome that (paraphrased) "My incarceration is hampering my ability to gain traction in the work force" It did not go well.
  11. I was kind of the same way with Reagan back in the day. I would also add that I was 13 and 17 when he won his elections so I had shit to do with his getting elected. The reasons why Reagan was a compelling candidate to teenage me: He was slick. Compare him to Carter who was thoughtful, calculating, diligent and careful as well as burdened by problems that would require those traits for solid but unsatisfying solutions. Ford was tainted and short timer. Nixon was dirty and burdened with Nam. LBJ also had Nam. The times. Growing up in 70s, I could see first hand the decline in American status....loss in Vietnam, the decline of US auto industry with rise in Japanese industry, OPEC flexing etc. Even the popular and acclaimed films of the day were critical, introspective, bleak, and uncomfortable. Even Star Wars had a used and dirty feel compared to other science fiction. Rocky, though an inspiring film, was set in a bleak environment. The Soviets and Eastern block Even kicked asses in the Olympics. He sold hope and there were willing buyers. I wised up during the Bush II administration, but I was college educated and exposed to vast amounts of information through my practice as a CPA. Even then it took the better part of 20 years to come around. So I am afraid some of these guys will never make it out.
  12. Not reading everything to see if recommended. The Tourist. 2 seasons. Good reviews. 6 episode seasons. Pretty dense without a bunch of useless filer. Good action. Good character development. No tits.
  13. Many Shubs and Zulls knew what it was to be roasted on the depths of the Sloar that day, I can tell you.
  14. So does that mean Mary's parents were also free of original sin and so on and so on?
  15. Interesting story from my childhood. I will preface it with caveat that whatever hoaxes, chain mails, and rumors were around before the internet, someone in my large catholic family would find them and repeat as fact. Growing up in Austin during 70s and 80s we moved 4 times but were never particularly close to an HEB. HEB was not the regional grocery behemoth it is today either so we were not really HEB customers. Back in the day it was pretty well known that the Butt family were pretty hard assed baptists and I recall some rumors of them going above and beyond the call for the enforcement of the blue laws at the time especially in the booze department. What I do remember occurring on many occasions during in state vacations is avoiding HEB altogether...usually when we were trying to get to someplace fun where whatever we needed at HEB would have been the most convenient option. My mom would always tell me it was because a few years back, old man Butt was most persistent in his insistence that some catholic priest down in south Texas was a pedophile even after local cops dropped their investigation. Mom would always attribute his actions to the fact that he hated catholics so we wouldn't shop there. I'd say old man Butt was right on the money except for the facts that it was not just one catholic priest and it wasn't just south Texas and it wasn't just a few years back.
  16. Solid flick. Would not pay full theater prices to see again tho. The ahole on my row who decided to take his socks and shoes off may have had something to do with that. I was really hoping for some Lawrence of Arabia type shots in there, but alas, I those days are behind us.
  17. Not sure if mentioned elsewhere: We finally made our way to the movie theater to catch Dune 2 last night. We had seats in the top row at the movie house eatery type place. Next to us was a gal and then her boyfriend both solidly in their middle 40's. They had their feet propped up on the recliner stools, were holding hands and generally making googly eyes at each other. Dude apparently thought he was at home because he had removed his shoes and socks. Not only would I not like this person, but I wanted to kick his ass right there. Fortunately, by the end of the movie I was more pissed off about paying $7.50 for each coke my kids ordered and forgot all about Shoeless Joe Jackdewsh.
  18. Spring Solstice?
  19. Also, so common and ubiquitous was the Rockford Files opening, that even in the mid 80's I was able to a bit on it: This is Jim Rockford, after the tone leave a message. Jimmy, this is Angel, I just left your place, yeah I have a key, but we can sort that out. Anyway I took a dump and th toilet overflowed, but there was no plunger. Sorry about that.... Bu da dump.....
  20. Made a trip to Universal studios back in 1976 as a kid. Jaws and a little known Robert Shaw flick called Swashbucker were all the rage. I snapped a photo of the Rockfordmobile while there. Will post up next time I visit mom. BTW. Great vibes from the theme. I known it was Mike Post et al but sounds like a combo of Eagles and French horn
  21. Misogyny?!?!, she won't even return my phone calls!!!
