  1. So aggy vs corn is happening. Does Trev Albert even show up knowing what a shit show that will be? Especially if corn manages to win.
  2. Just brought home a few items from The Great British Baking Co. They're on Mercer, just off of RR12. The pot roast, chicken curry hand pies and sausage roll were all good. Also got cookies and a sticky pudding for later. They have daily specials besides what's listed on their website. Overall, a good option for the area. The Mighty Fine Burgers in Belterra Village has closed. Rumor is it will become an Italian place.
  3. Is it me, or does this look like the staff from a used car lot in Killeen?
  4. Not fat dude, the preferred term is HEB Positive. It's a condition. Jelly roll out front should have told you.
  5. Cougar High rocking the Oilers uniforms vs UTSA. Doesn't seem right. Thoughts?
  6. I signed up for the free trial on YouTube TV just to watch the Open and football. Hoping that Spectrum and Disney get their shit together and quit screwing their customers over. I'm not overly optimistic on this, however. Not sure which of these two is in the worse financial shape, or how long it can drag on. Sucks big time.
  7. I love reading this type of story. Seems like a hell of an adventure. Reminds me of Malaria Dreams, a travel book by Stuart Stevens I read in the early 90s. Similar storyline but their trip was through the CAR instead of the Congo.
  8. So, are ASU and UU already planning their exit from strategy from the BIG 12? Or is there one? They sure as hell did not want to be affiliated with, as they like to call it, the "Truck Stop Conference." I could see them being two turds in the new punchbowl given the statements made upon joining. Fuck 'em. Hard. Repeat.
  9. Tuned in to watch some of the races at Saratoga on FS1. Joey Freshwater just finished 2nd. This amused me.
  10. He was great in so many rolls/characters. I think the first movie I saw him in was the Dion Brothers back in the mid 70s, which had some hilarious scenes. RIP to a great one.
  11. Making my first visit to DC later this month, 25th to Oct.2nd, so have been reading thru this thread for sage advice. The first 3 days will be at the Wyndham Oxon Hill in the National Harbor area for conference/workshop related events. Have done minor research but not looking as promising as other parts of town on cool things to do/see. There's the Casino, Waterfront Park and Air Force 1 Replica of some sort, so really need some recs here. The next 4 days we have an Airbnb in Capital Hill and a free schedule, so we'll do the normal first-time touristy things and try out a few of the restaurants/bars that have been mentioned here. Looks like the Nationals have a home series with the Phillies so that might be doable. No rental car, the tales of parking nightmares have made me choose to go Uber, Metro, cab or whatever instead.

    Tinnitus

I have it in both ears. Like many others went to numerous rock concerts,
  13. Yep, they were calling student names out to cross the stage and got into the B's when the rain hit. They were being overly optimistic trying to get this done last night. So it's rescheduled for tonight at 8:00, we'll see .
  14. Dripping Springs High moved the graduation ceremony time (at the football stadium) tonight from 8:00 pm to 6:00 in an attempt to avoid the rain. We shall see. Should I wear my waders?
  15. Saw the last 15 minutes or so of singles play, NW was looking pretty solid.
  16. Did a check on their website and it shows the concert line up through August, no indication if the old or new site though. I did not know Styx and Joan Jett still toured, Nutty going retro.
  17. Saw that the planned HEB at the old Nutty Brown Amphitheater site is going to open in approximately a year. Hope it has a bar like the Lakeway HEB.

    Eggs

Scotched eggs are a favorite, takes a little effort so I don't do them often, breakfast tacos much easier/quicker. Before we moved south used to go to Chez Zee in Austin on weekends and always had the eggs commodore. Basically just eggs benedict with sausage instead of Canadian bacon, but was damn good.
  19. I feel like my house is ready for the single digit temps, not so much for the two vehicles that are always parked outside. Got the cars in the garage, suvs are out. I know, should have built a bigger garage. Dealing with this will be task #1 for me tomorrow.
  20. It appears that there will be some fees/penalties if you choose to attend private or certain out of state schools, I am reading up on that now .
  21. I don't know, and to be honest I have to read up on all details per situation as we made the mistake of assuming she would go to school in state. As related to going out of state I believe it's just a matter of cashing out the funds.
  22. Will be following this closely as my youngest daughter is in the midst of trying to decide/get accepted into various schools. She is actually a pretty good student but has the bad habit of putting everything off until the last moment, school assignments included. She did get a partial scholarship offer to U of Oregon, but only around $7,500.00 a year which is hardly worth considering given all that it would involve going to school that far away. Ideally she will do the CAP/ UTSA to UT(her preferred school) route. Not sure if UT Dallas participates as well. She also has friends that are going to Colorado, Colo.St. and Oregon State, and they are all looking for someone to tag along. This is the part where it gets dicey as we have a fair amount of money in the Texas Tomorrow Fund, and going out of state kind of hinders that. Mrs. Hovis is a Tech grad with a Masters in Engineering but try as she might the daughter wants no part of Lubbock. By the way looking at marketing programs(food related?)so to me there should be a number of options within state. I needs the help.
  23. Got a call from ARC just before noon, asked if I could come in to either the Buda or Kyle location before 7:00 pm for the Moderna vaccine. I live in Hays County but have an Austin mailing address. Scheduled a 4:00 at Kyle and was out by 4:30. They were getting folks through at a fast pace. The 2nd shot is set for 2/27 which is a Saturday, but fine with me. Odd thing is the call came up as a Georgetown phone number, when I asked about that she said she was having to use her cell phone as all ARC lines were swamped.
