It seems like you're conflating your posts and the replies in the thread titled "Ukraine" with posts about Israel.

I am not conflating anything. I am able to track separate threads and keep the exchanges straight. I know that keeping the beat is something you continually struggle with though, so your post is unsurprising.

At least he wasn't shot or stabbed. Although I will admit that his smug, self-satisfied grin sure makes his face look awfully punchable.

    Hello darkness, my old friend.

But if you want those examples, you know they exist.

Funny thing is, my overall position hasn’t changed that much.

OK, cool, hookem. You accused me of wanting terrorists to win, and seeking the extermination and slaughter of jews, as I recall it for suggesting that maybe we not fund and arm an apartheid state. But maybe I misremember. Bullshit the posters that don't pay attention, but don't bullshit me, and certainly don't bullshit yourself brisket.

Again, I am glad that you are coming to your senses.

I said it several years ago, and as I recall, you agreed with me: there is nobody coming to save us. There’s nothing between us and the shitstorm. Not a single thing.

But in the overall balance, yes. I find no reason to disagree with this. Blips in history in the grand scheme of things.

You, of all people, know that it won’t.

I have watched your metamorphosis over the course of this thread on this particular topic, so not all hope is lost.

  6. OK, so he is taking the disgrace route.

    Dear UT community,
This has been a challenging day for many. We have witnessed much activity we normally do not experience on our campus, and there is understandably a lot of emotion surrounding these events.

Today, our University held firm, enforcing our rules while protecting the Constitutional right to free speech. Peaceful protests within our rules are acceptable. Breaking our rules and policies and disrupting others’ ability to learn are not allowed. The group that led this protest stated it was going to violate Institutional Rules. Our rules matter, and they will be enforced. Our University will not be occupied.

The protesters tried to deliver on their stated intent to occupy campus. People not affiliated with UT joined them, and many ignored University officials’ continual pleas for restraint and to immediately disperse. The University did as we said we would do in the face of prohibited actions. We were prepared, with the necessary support to maintain campus operations and ensure the safety, well-being and learning environment for our more than 50,000 students.

We are grateful for the countless staff members and state and University law enforcement officers, as well as support personnel who exercised extraordinary restraint in the face of a difficult situation that is playing out at universities across the country. There is a way to exercise freedom of speech and civil discourse, and our Office of the Dean of Students has continued to offer ways to ensure protests can happen within the rules. The University of Texas will continue to take necessary steps so that all our University functions proceed without interruption.

    Sincerely yours,

    Jay Hartzell
    President

Journalists in Gaza get treated better than that guy did 10 blocks from his studio.

Yeah. You might want to look into that one a bit.

Yeah that video doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies at all. It’s still heavy on the “only one true path” theme, just altered that trump isn’t that path.  But it is only a portion of one sermon, so perhaps I’d get a different impression if I were to listen to all of it and some others as well to get a feel for his message.

Yeah, I am not really promoting that guy nor his theology. I am fairly certain that we would disagree about most things, but in the context of the Christian nationalism tendencies among in particular the evangelical non-denoms, seems reasonable to amplify some of the voices in that vein that are pushing back.

For Austin homeowners, pay close attention to your overall property value increase or decrease in 2023. I certainly haven’t run comps across the entire city, but most property values should have declined not appreciated in 2023, unless there were special circumstances.

Austin/Travis County put in extra effort in 2022 to get property values around town much better aligned to true values. They were a bit all over the place in years past. If they did that with your property, then values in 2023 should have declined.

Note that your taxable value could still be going up, but limited by the 10% cap. I’m talking about overall property value, not taxable value.

I see a ton of posts with double digit increases in property value, and there really shouldn’t be all that many.

Checks out. 2023 appraised went down marginally from 2022, 2024 is still below 2022. 2021 to 2022 is where the pain is.

You are offended and want to be away from Christians who are so frustrated and sorrowful about the tragedies and wars that are going on that they think (and hope) that maybe it's part of the prophesied return of their leader via their canonical text?

There are literally no evangelicals or fundamentalists framing it in this way. If you can provide some examples of such, it will be the first that I have ever seen. But on the other hand, I have seen a lot of them talking about raising red heifers and collecting funds to rebuild the Temple, and framing the current conflict as part of their end times eschatology.

Have to break a few eggs before you can make an omelette , the world is an ugly place man and alot shit happens behind the scenes that no one really wants to talk about to ensure we can live how we want.

As long we are the ones on top, Im ok with that

There is very little that you cannot justify with this logic. Grab the box and the jumper cables. The towel and board. Again at least you are honest about your perspective on American values.

My children and yours have reaped untold benefits from all of those "wars", can you imagine how different the world would be right now if the US sunk back into a non intervention reclusive country post WW2. Did we screw up over that time, yeah we sure as hell did but we also got some things right and at the end of the day, we're still speaking English, the dollar is the most sought after currency, we still have the strongest military and most of the world still looks to us on just about everything.

None of that would be possible if we didn't stick our nose in other peoples business to try and shape the world in our favor

Yeah, I am just going to reject your counterfactual. I know that many here will accept it uncritically. We're still speaking English! JFC. The petrodollar! Yeah, tell me all about the pariah state situation. But I do appreciate the fact that you at least quite clear in your view that the American way of life post-WWII is inseparable from endless war making and naked self-interest, long run consequences and thinking be damned, we'll just muddle through the blowback. I think that that kind of cut through it honesty is worthy of some praise.
