  1. I don't know what the best way is to leverage this point of view, but I'm on board. I definitely won't give another dime to the university at this point until they are gone. They need to know that, but my contributions are so meager as to be meaningless. I don't know how (or if) something could be organized to create a legitimate threat.
  2. When I was a student at UT, I got involved in the protests demanding the school divest from South African holdings (apartheid). Never in a million years did I fear cops or arrest or worse. This is a shameful day in the history of our school. Fuck Jay Hartzell, fuck Greg Abbott, and fuck any anti-education fucksticks.
  3. Jay Hartzell needs to be fired, full stop. He is wholly incapable of running a huge public university.
  4. Good news, we're up to #66 in RPI.
  5. 100% Billy. Don't mess with the 'pubes.
  6. I seriously doubt anyone was bankrupted by that venture.
  7. I'm no business expert, but I can't understand why someone wouldn't just double the initial investment -- build a second food truck, serve a different part of town. It's likely a survivable mistake if it doesn't work out.
  8. Angry Bevo should step lightly, or Looch is gonna dare him to come down and meet up man to man.
  9. I cross-examined my Pecker today.
  10. I remain fully committed to drinking massive amounts of bread every day.

So we ended up trying Los Pinos Jalisco last night. It was good. I'd say it leans a little more towards interior Mexican than Tex-Mex. My wife had some mushroom enchiladas that were terrific. It's basically a repurposed pizza joint, so don't expect ambience. We ate outside on their patio. It's nice, but you're sitting by a parking lot.

I have a feeling this isn't their last release. I've read a bunch of interviews about the recording process, and how their producer pushed them back into a live-in-the-studio process. They seem to be energized.
  13. I have an easy solution -- never travel with firearms or ammo, ever. Whoa, what a mind-blowing concept! No leftovers that will land you in a 3rd-world prison.
  14. UT seems pretty unconcerned with filing FAFSA. I've been trying to pay cash for my two kids on campus, and literally haven't filed FAFSA in two years. I think they might have made it a requirement for year 1?

Rumor has it that Azul Tequila is moving from their cursed Dry Creek location to the old Double Dave's on Mesa. I hope so. They can cook, but every restaurant in that location smells like mopwater. (Interestingly enough, so does El Mercado on north Burnet.) Looking forward to trying Los Pinos Jalisco at 360/2222. I'm hearing good things. I'm hearing not so good things about Que Divino Cocina on Greystone.
  16. Well, it makes sense. A&M is the big fish in this scenario. If they don't want little brother tagging along, they should be able to make sure it doesn't happen. 'sips need to learn their station in life.
  17. "It's one banana, Michael. What could it cost, ten dollars?"
  18. Dipshits on local radio were talking about Frampton as a "one hit wonder" yesterday. I can think of at least five.
  19. My low point was when a good friend's hot older sister, who was a PhD candidate in Econ, invited me to the Posse for beers. About 4 pitchers in I was so addled I didn't realize what was actually going on. Did I mention I was a dumbass?
  20. I don't know, the crowd looks pretty big to me:
  21. Our go-to was multiple pitchers of Shiner Bock plus either Sheriff sammiches or nachos. I cannot fathom how much beer I consumed there.
