  1. Initially, I thought the kernels that had fallen were his little yellow cat balls 😂
  2. My understanding is that Biden has a historically low approval rating (especially amongst youth and hispanics) and no incumbent has managed to win re-election with such numbers. He's also trailing trump in multiple polls, unlike 2020 where he didn't exactly win in a landslide. I know polls were bullshit last mid-terms predicting a red wave but still seems like Biden is in bad shape at the moment.
  3. For someone who pretty clearly despises politics (or at minimum, politicians), Ana is doing his best impression of Joe Politician by dodging a very simple question. He wasn't asked who he would vote for of the three, just who the best option was. You can vote for none of them of course. To me, Biden is clearly the best option of that group, and I say this as someone who won't be voting for him. I have that luxury since Trump will carry Texas by double digits regardless of what I do - I can actually not cast my vote for a horrible candidate and have a clear conscience. If I lived in a swing state, I'd probably, sadly, hold my breath and vote Biden. Because a deeply flawed man with a shit morality compass is still better than one of the worst persons to ever walk the earth.
  4. Part time and as Exec Producer. Giddyup! https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/jon-stewart-daily-show-return-monday-1235885955/
  5. "Pescado! This is James Carville here, and I am FURIOUS!..."
  6. It means he's a fucking liar IMO. Which tracks perfectly with his bullshit pious persona.
  7. Jesus... this creature is the frontrunner for the presidency. Madness.
  8. Crap, now I have to buy a PS5 just for this game...
  9. I wonder if the above is the reason why Justin Wells said luicci was a business genius on an IT Youtube show before the season began. Luicci has found a fool-proof way to monetize the cult of the 12th man.
  10. Generally speaking, what is the life expectancy of these things? I have a bare bones contractor-grade system that's about 12 years old. I can't use it because it fucks the water pressure in the house. Can't run a shower and wash dishes at the same time. I ran through some Iron Out this weekend to help clean the pellets but it didn't help. Might just need a new system. Anyone deal with pressure issues related to the softener?
  11. I had not realized this, definitely something I should look into. Much thanks.
  12. The lists I've seen show either MA or NJ as having the best public schools. Color me shocked that Jersey isn't only Jets fans and jersey shore guido morons.
  13. We're beginning very early stages of exploring a move to other states. Frontrunners are CO, WA, MA, VT... Question for those with school-aged children - how big a role should public schools play in choosing a new place to call home? Seems to me it should be priority 1 (or at worst 2), but I'm open to other viewpoints. Kids are 3 and 6, so ideally we'd only move once and let them finish K-12 there. So far the only "research" I've done is limited to searching real estate in areas with GreatSchools ratings of 6 or higher. What other resources are out there to find good/decent public schools in a particular state?
  14. I hope OU gets embarrassed in every sport, including checkers. After we move to the SEC, I hope OU gets embarrassed in every sport, including checkers. I hope that anytime OU athletics gets brought up in conversation in that wasteland of a state, all okies hang their head in shame. Fuck OU.
  15. This is one of those things - like when he mocked a disabled reporter - where I can't believe it wasn't immediately disqualifying in the eyes of voters. Because the fact that he wants to fuck his own daughter is not a rumor - he actually said it on The View (technically said "dating", but grown-ass men don't date platonically). Even the most charitable interpretation is that he was joking about wanting to fuck his own daughter. Imagine if Clinton/Obama/Biden said the same thing... it's just beyond comprehension.
  16. I saw the Newsome interview. And I'd seen him before on Maher's show - he never came across to me as a skilled debater the few times I caught him. He was more of a standard calculated political in the Bill Clinton mold. Having said that, I totally agree - he was obviously extremely well prepared for Hannity's style of questioning. As is Stewart with his guests. There are levels of crazy and yes, some of them expertly assert bullshit, strawman, pivot, etc and they do it fast so you don't have time to address every point. RFK doesn't strike me as that and I think someone can prepare well enough to debunk his claims on a long-form style podcast. I think he could be pinned down and made to at least stumble through a tepid defense of his vaccine/autism correlation. And admit that correlation =/= causation. Kinda similar to what Mehdi Hassan did to Taibbi on his show.
  17. I'm of two minds on this issue. Totally agree that having an expert/doctor/scientist on the same debate stage as a loon somewhat legitimizes the loon's position. Plus lots of scientists aren't exactly skilled debaters, which is a legit oratory skill. However, I think it might be a better tactic to develop debate skills and shoot down the bullshit directly to the bullshitter. Jon Stewart is not an expert at anything, but he's very good at shooting down bullshit.
