  1. https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/texas/92016 Can someone please provide the projected 2024 DT depth chart and any likely portal transfers at the position? I am worried about entering the SEC weak on the interior with Sweat, Murphy, Collins, and Carter leaving and no 4-star recruits in 2023 and 1 low 4-star in 2022 recruiting classes and no apparent targets in portal. We should be throwing all the NIL $ at Walter Nolan!
  2. I have long wished "Boom in the House" would replace "Norm and D". I think Sirois was a Top 7 personality on the Ticket (behind Craig, Gordo, Dan, Jake, Corby, and Bob). Norm had long expired and is not a good fit and was my least favorite voice at The Ticket among hosts, producers, etc. Now, I bet next in line is Monty. He will be good. I don't know his chemistry with Donnie. I hope they make it Donnie and WIP ("Work in Progress").
  3. He also played Middy and Attack. Think about that how good of an athlete he has to be if he is a Top 50 player in the country playing Attack and Middy? Attack is a position that requires a lot of quickness (typical attack is 5'9) and Middy requires a lot of speed/down hill running ability and he is listed at 6'7 225 (he is really 6'5+). He can put on a ton of muscle weight on his frame.
  4. Ethan Burke is a Super Stud 4-star Top 50 Lacrosse recruit in the country. He originally committed to Maryland to play lacrosse, de-committed and committed to play football at Michigan His dad is the Westlake Lacrosse coach. I am surprised he did not go to a D1 lacrosse/football school to play both ala Dante Trader at Maryland.
  5. It is around 175k scoville units. It is probably a 7 out of 10 in terms of hot. It is the unique, delicious taste, particularly on sandwiches that makes this sauce stand out.
  6. There is not even a close Second! One of the tragedies of Covid is that Firehouse Subs stopped having a huge assortment of hot sauces to try. Firehouse subs was one of the few places in the wild where you could try Rhino Peri Peri sauce!

No Daryl Dike, Chris Richards, or Matthew Hoppe are the disappointments. What is the point of having 33 yo Tim Ream when we are building towards 2026 World Cup?
  9. Meant UNC! Still associate Roy Williams with Kansas after all these years! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. We also just beat Kansas to Chris Beard [emoji28] as Roy Williams retired!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Am I wearing Burnt Orange Colored glasses, but CDC’s two big hires have been A+s initially! Of course there are real concerns about Sark’s drinking problems coming back. But, he is an insanely good offensive mind (maybe top 3 to 5 on planet earth), a great recruiter, and has built the best staff UT has EVER had! Chris Beard not only took Texas Tech of all places to the Final Four last tournament, but he gets his players to play some of the best pressure defense in the country, which is translatable! He is also a sneaky good recruiter and eye for talent, which should be augmented at UT, particularly with a brand spanking new arena! Chris Beard was probably considered the #1 coach in the country not at a historically top 10 program (Gonzaga has broken in as a Top 5-10 program thanks to Mark Few). Am I being overly hyperbolic in my assessment of these hires by CDC? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The only informal part is that Raiola will want to profit share for getting above the £66mn release clause in June 2022. Herein lies the biggest risk for Man City. Raiola hates Pep Guardiola and called him a "Coward" and a "Dog" for backing out of a deal Riola thought Barcelona agreed upon to purchase Zlatlan Ibrahimovic. Pep therefore does not want to ever play the Raiola payola games. For instance, Raiola made £24mn on the Paul Pogba transfer to Man United, or more than the £22mn Man City paid for Ilkay Gundogan. Raiola has reportedly come to an "informal" agreement that if Dortmund sells Halland for more than the WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT £66mn release clause in June 2022, Raiola and Dortmund will split 50/50 any amount over £86mn that Dortmund sells Haaland. This gives Raiola an incentive to sell Haaland to the highest bidder in the summer of 2021. That is the "informal" part of the contract. Therefore, if Dortmund sells Haaland for say £126mn in total value, then Raiola collects £20mn on the deal (or 50% of the above £40mn surplus over £86mn). Guardiola/Txiki Begiristain (the director of Man City Football operations and held the same job with Barcelona on the Ibra negoiations) will have to swallow their pride and pay Raiola his payola. But, Raiola would love nothing more than to get Man City to the altar and then stiff them by selling Haaland to PSG/Chelsea/Real Madrid/Liverpool to get his pound of flesh. But the bottom line is Raiola is a greedy bastard and he will sell to whomever makes him the most money! Lastly, Dortmund will not get a good price on Sancho bc of Covid-19 and Sancho is averaging a goal or an assist every 145 minutes in the Bundesliga vs every 69 minutes last season. Borussia Dormund would be lucky to get an offer of £85-£90mn vs their value of £120+mn pre-Covid. Again, Dortmund would also have to pay Man City 15% of any profit over the £18mn they paid City for Sancho.
  13. By definition a 2022 release clause indeed “forces their hand”. Anyone who offers Dortmund £66mn When the June 2022 window opens up forces Dortmund to sell Haaland for that price. 20+ clubs will line up to exercise that release clause. Dortmund will be in financial trouble if they don’t make Champions League next year! They will need to sell up to 7 players in the June 2921 transfer window or they could sell 1 player who they will be forced to sell anyway in 2022 for half what they could sell in 2021. That is another hand forced! Again Jadon Sancho is having an off year, this combined with Covid-19 makes it highly unlikely they can sell him for the money they would like to generate. On top of this, Man City will get paid a 15% sell-on clause for any profit above the £18mn Dortmund paid Man City for Sancho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That is SO INCORRECT! Haaland has a £66mn release clause in June 2022! Every major club will exercise this release clause in 2022 (they will all be in better financial position and it will cost at least half to buy Haaland in 2022 vs 2021) and then it will be up to Haaland to determine what club he wants to choose. Man City would win Champions League at least once and likely multiple times guaranteed with Haaland! Man City should offer Dortmund in the summer of 2021: £100m of cash (inclusive of Raiola payola) + Jayden Braaf w/ £45m buyback (=£8m value), + waive 15% sell-on clause for Jadon Sancho (=£17m value if Sancho is sold for £130m) = £125m total value for Haaland who is worth £225+m. Dortmund would be crazy not to accept 2x 2022 £66m release clause! Dortmund also needs to sell a lot of players if they don't sell Haaland and/or Sancho (not as many suiters willing to pay £100m+ with Sancho having a down year this year) if they don't make Champions League next year (currently 6th and 6 points out of 4th place)! Man City is one of only 3 clubs (PSG, Chelsea the other two) that have the resources to pay $100+m of cash for Haaland in the summer of 2021 due to Covid. Real Madrid, Man United, Barcelona Liverpool, and Bayern would all have to sell players to get the cash. It would take a LOT of players for these teams to get the funds and that would take time. None of these teams have expendable $100+m players that they could get done quickly in order to have the cash early in the transfer window to get a Haaland deal done!

A free 8 is a more attacking, free roaming 10 position that Guardiola used with De Bruyne and David Silva. Silva and De Bruyne basicall divide up halves of the field (left vs right instead of offense vs defense). You clearly need a strong #6 defensive midfielder (Tyler Adams) as you push forward your free 8s on attack. Your free 8s can overlap and the wingers can go outside while the free 8s pushes out to the flank as De Bruyne frequenty does. The issue for our core is that I don't like a false 9, so I want to squeeze a Sargent or Hoppe/Ferriera in with 3 natural wingers (7/11) in Pulisic, Reyna, and Weah. Yes, you could have Reyna or Pulisic play the 10, but a free 8 role would allow both of them to be more involved in overlapping on the wing where they are more naturally suited and also makes them much more difficult to mark. Free eights One of the most important features of the City team that accumulated a record 100 points in the 2017/18 Premier League season was Guardiola’s deployment of David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne together in central attacking midfield roles. They worked in tandem as playmakers, operating in the two half-spaces to create chances for Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, and Sergio Aguero. This role is often referred to as a free eight, which differs from an eight in that the players are not expected to arrive late in the penalty area or provide the engine in midfield. Instead, they weave between the opposition lines, floating somewhere between the conventional eight and 10 positions. De Bruyne and Silva still play as free eights on occasion, although the Belgian drifts out to the right flank more regularly these days. THE NUMBER 8s OR ARE THEY 10s Manchester City has two of the best central midfielders in world football in David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne. Trying to characterise their positions and roles isn’t easy. Lee writes, Pep Guardiola instructed his two number ‘8’s, typically Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, to play much further forward in positions that are more typically occupied by number ‘10’s.This positional concept was achievable at City because Pep Guardiola has complete trust in those who play in deeper positions to be able to progress the ball forward without relying on the two central midfielders.Lee Scott – Mastering the Premier League Speaking with Lee on twitter to try and understand how these two players actually play in real life, he says that they defend as 8s but only as part of the overall structure of the team. In possession, they are very much 10s. Moreover, his book tells us that the key to the positioning of the two number 8’s is that they occupy spaces in the field known as the half-spaces. We know that under the hood, the Mezzala role is one which is coded to work this way. However, if you analyse and watch the positions of other players they too will work in these spaces. So how do we get players to defend as 8s and attack as 10s? I’m going to need these pair far up the pitch when we’re building out from the back, but getting stuck in when we’re under pressure.

This^^^! Matthew Hoppe is being monitored by all of the big money clubs after scoring 5 goals in his first 8 starts for Schalke. He is only 19. Every player over 27 years old should effectively be dropped from the squad because we need to be focused on our youth movement for the 2026 World Cup in the US. This means our strikers should be in order: Sargent, either or Hoppe/Feirreira. Stop wasting time with Altidore and Zardes. Their time has past. Also, Reyna and Weah are CLEARLY Tier 1 (Automatic Starters in Critical games). We need to find formations that get Sargent or one of Hoppe/Feirreira on the field with Pullisic, Weah, and Reyna. That means Reyna or Pullisic moves to the free 8 position, like Kevin De Bruyne.
  17. Yes, the Stepien Rule! I realized it after I posted this. Therefore, the Mavs need to do a trade for Beal after '21 draft (or pick up extra late '21 1st), then they can trade their '22, '24, '26 and '28 first round picks if pick up an expected late '23 1st (Bucks, Lakers, Clipper, Jazz). To accomplish all of this, they would also need to add some 1st round swaps in '23, '25 & '27, some of their 2nd round picks, and Brunson, & Finney-Smith. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. The Mavs will lose Luka after the 2023 season (he is a restricted free agent after '22 season) if don’t get a 3rd super star to stretch the floor, take scoring load off Luka, etc. Bradley Beal (27 yo) is the perfect addition. The Mavs need to offer the Wizards their: ‘22 (super draft), ‘24, ‘25, and ‘26 1st rounds + Hardaway+Powell (cap match). This deal is not too far off the Nets Harden trade where they traded away their '22, '24, and '26 first round picks and pick swaps for '21, '23, '25, and '27 plus Caris Levert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, and Rodions Kurucs. So this proposed offer to Wizards has one more 1st round pick, but less players and no pick swaps. So, maybe to get the deal done the Mavs would have to throw in Brunson (one of the few young cheap Mavs who is playing well right now) and picks swaps in '27 and '28. The Mavs traded away their '21 and '23 first round picks to the Knicks for Porzingis.
  19. Because he jumps from one year at UTSA to the head coach of the Texas Longhorns! Make it $2mn guaranteed per year over 3 years, but if he just meets reasonable expectations (10+wins when you play a minimum of 13 games most of which are against suckass B12 and either beat OU which is a 50/50 probability or win the Big 12 which should be a 30-40% probability), you make $5.5mn to $7.5mn or 6-7x what you are making at UTSA! If you don't make those expectations every couple of years, you are likely to be fired from UT anyway!
  20. Traylor (or another small school coach) makes a lot of sense if UT thinks outside the box and only provides a 3 year incentive-laden contract, particularly if he keeps a lot of Herman's assistants since Traylor does not have a ton of eperience with other highly thought of assistants. We need a sellable plan to the BMDs that we can buy out Herman and his assistants, yet not cost much more than if we kept Herman. Herman has $18.75mn left for the final 3 years of his deal and a $15mn buyout. If you only guaranteed Traylor $4.5mn over 3 years, you are risking $750k more than if we kept Herman, but you get rid of the smug, asshole Herman! Why do we have to keep giving these G5 coaches a 5 year $5mn per year guaranteed contract coming off $1-$2mn contracts at their small schools? This just leads to our constant cycle of locking into the wrong guy and having to beg big donors to buyout bad contracts. We should reset how contracts in football are made by finding coaches who are hungry to win at UT. Offer a short-term incentive-laden contract, which is say 3 years and a $1.5mn per season. But, you get a $2mn bonus for a 10 win season, an added $1.5mn bonus if you beat OU, an added $2mn bonus if you win a conference championship, an added $2 million bonus if you make the playoffs, an added $2mn bonus if you make the championship game and another $2 mn bonus if you win the National Championship. So, we are only guaranteeing $4.5mn over 3 years, but a coach can make up to $13mn and should make at least $5mn (win 10 games and beat OU or win conference). We can always extend 2 years if he is a badass for recruiting purposes. We can also offer EVERYTHING we offered Meyer like $3mn for assistants, complete control and his own assistant AD for recruiting who can coordinate player “imaging rights” with big donors going forward, etc. That way we have some institutional deniability and reason to fire with cause yet provide CDC and Hartzell some cover should the new assistant AD/new coach get caught stretching the limits by a completely neutered NCAA (i.e. we won't be punished by the NCAA bc we will be doing what every $EC school does) Coaches like Jamey Chadwell (who has worked miracles at Coastal Carolina, which did not even have football 4 years ago, and who makes just $375,000), Jeff Traylor (who makes a base of $800k at UTSA), or Bill Napier (who only makes $880k and up to just $950k at Louisiana Lafayette) would totally jump at this contract offer! They would just want the chance to be the UT coach, much less double or more their base salary and have a potential to make $5mn+ just for meeting expectations and up to $13mn in a year. Of course, this is too logical and if we hired Traylor it would be for 5 years and $25mn guaranteed and we will likely be back to begging donors for a $25mn buyout and publicly failing in trying to offer Dabo $100mn over 5 years and he turns us down, then we hire another G5 coach to fire 3 years later, rinse and repeat.
  21. Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears as a Christmas candy gag gift for pure entertainment value of giving to an unsuspecting person!
  22. I don't know if you have had experience trying to help out an alcoholic. It overtakes a person. They literally cannot have one additional drop of alcohol the rest of their life and have to avoid being around alcohol at all times. That is hard to do with a functioning alcoholic and I would supect much harder with a non functioning alcoholic who shows up to his work drunk.
  23. Just look at Ryan Leaf as somone who was addicted and went clean and sober and totally turned himself around: https://sports.yahoo.com/ryan-leaf-from-historic-draft-bust-to-jail-is-sober-and-cohosted-esp-ns-nfl-live-144031143.html Oh wait, two months later: https://247sports.com/Article/Ryan-Leaf-mugshot-domestic-battery-arrest-college-football-Washington-State-147468384/ The point is that it just takes one drink and he is back off the wagon. The pressure of being a head coach at UT makes that highly likely!
  24. I think you are missing my point entirely! I don't want to keep making the same mistakes over and over again! I want the big fish! But all of the candidates right now suck! I think any “bigger name” direction we go (i.e. Franklin, Campbell, Fickle, Kubiak, Sark, Fleck, etc), we will end up trying to fire this head coach in 3-4 years and begging the BMDs for another $25mn to buy him out! Rinse and repeat! Our real problem right now is that we might actually keep Herman because the BMDs can’t find a consensus head coach that makes it worth $25mn to buy out Herman and staff. This lame duck do nothing approach is the nuclear option as it will destroy the 2022 recruiting class. I am proposing a solution where we only spend $750k more than if we kept Herman through his 3 years left on his contract. But this option would save the 2022 recruiting class and bring fresh energy and hope into the program with a hungry coach who is incentivized to play $EC ball utilizing the new player image rights rules and our huge money alumni network as a way to prove himself! If he gives us Herman-like results just like I think any other of the “bigger names” we are looking at will provide, then it costs us nothing above what we are scheduled to pay Herman over the next 3 years. The last thing I would want to do is go down the route of being a small program. But, I don't trust CDC to make the a hire that will turn the program around with the choices we have currently. I essentially want to buy time to eventually get a big fish yet convince BMDs to spend the $25mn to fire Herman now. I was pissed that Mack Brown and Joe Jamail screwed our chances to get Saban. We would have paid Saban $50-$60mn over 5 years and now we have spent that much on buyouts alone over this period. The next time we go after a Saban, Meyer, Dabo type we will need to spend $100mn+. I am afraid if we don't learn from our past mistakes, the money will not be there to do it. There has to be a limit to how many times we can go to the well to buy out coaches.
