  1. I did about 32k miles on a Bandit 1200, they’re the best UJM of all time.
  2. LB7 is pretty great, best in years.
  3. I’m on my second year of blackberries and they’re crushing it. I planted 4 last year and another 6 this spring. Also have a couple different blueberry varieties, one of which is producing in its second year. Also plenty of tomatoes, squash, cantaloupe, watermelon, and need to get some okra in.
  4. Stagg Jr and SFTB are the best value vs secondary, but that kosher rye is such a banger. Hard pass on the Elijah tossed ass.
  5. Quality has gone down, I probably wouldn’t pay much more than retail right now. JD 12 is a banger, tho. Approved.
  6. Ha, damn. I think we’re done here. I’d like to subscribe to your Fredericksburg Eats newsletter. Thanks for the effort in typing this all out.
  7. What’s the best option for a dinner spot these days? We’re staying at Barons Creek but figure we’ll need to come downtown for food. I’m a little lost without Eater recs or a good Surly thread.
  8. It’s definitely slowing down and the big players like Heaven Hill caught up a year or two ago outside of the Texas market. Meanwhile, I’m wrapping up bangers I opened up 5 years ago. Double digit MGP is properly rated as very excellent and I enjoyed this one from start to finish.
  9. Nothing is worse than the five malt, so you should be safe.
  10. Blanton’s. It’s better than Blanton’s.
  11. They all seem about the same to me and the 101 is a better value. There’s a lot more fun variation for the dollar in Elijah Craig.
  12. JD 12 is beautiful, I love it. Good value even at secondary.
  13. He was the man. I tailgated his place in Pville with a buddy one time, showed up an hour early and drank beer while he finished cooking. He thought it was about the funniest thing he’d ever seen and spent most of that time giving us samples and talking up the half chicken. When we finally ordered he threw in the half chicken for free after we ordered another $80 or so worth of cue. He was an amazingly genuine, kind dude with a real knack for making great food. The half chicken was the finest white meat bbq I’ve ever had. Pic below is from that day the year before he made TM top 50. My other favorite memory of him was when a friend face timed him from my backyard while I was doing half a goat over an oak fire and the other half in a Caja China box. His first words were after answering and hearing what we were up to were, “oh man, I love goat!” Rest in peace.
  14. Friday rye action. The Jack is better than I remembered, Cornerstone is still pretty lame for a Master’s Keep bottle. Thin mouthfeel, ethanol nose and just not much going on other than rye spice.
  15. 2-3 times per year. The X-frames aren’t really that bad to shoot, probably even more comfortable than a Model 29 44 mag with classic wood stocks. But will sure as hell put a smile on your face every time. And if you get tired of the muzzle blast and expense of shooting 460 mag you can plink away with 45 lc at 1/5 the price.
