  1. Hoops gonna tear y'all a new asshole.
  2. I realized there are more informational threads but I thought maybe a simple one that will keep a running tally of capitol rioters and the people who at least support the mindset that led to that nonsense. I think maybe if we limit this to guilty pleas, convictions, and sentences, that would be nice. Or instances someone refuses service to Ted Cruz. 1. Jon Schaffer, 53, a member of the Oath Keepers militia group, pleaded guilty to two charges - obstruction of an official proceeding and entering a restricted building with a dangerous weapon. Schaffer, who is also a heavy metal guitarist in the band Iced Earth, had originally faced six charges including using a chemical irritant designed for grizzly bears on police officers during clashes.
  3. You skillful bastard, my house is 50 years old and I can't fix shit.
  4. I really liked it. I hate Tom Hanks more than most people and I really like Tom Hanks. I just love Westerns including languid Westerns like this, and given I've spent a good part of my life driving down through Glen Rose down 281 , I just bought off on the story and accepted the forced locations. It would have been much more realistic if he had stopped in at Koffee Kup on the way down. Plus, the power of lowered expectations. Which is pretty powerful.
  5. The win up above for Mannix and the Jetsons. Both truly awesome and that Jetson's car sound... In the Welcome Back mode...Jose Fucking Feliciano
  6. Let's level set, and before we go on, can we get a show of hands of who was in the shit?
  7. The "women are going to get fucked over pretty bad" is the one I lead with.
  8. Hard to argue cost benefits. But I think it's a pretty valuable benefit to retain a foothold in the region (that was a hard as fuck Risk country to keep, if memory serves) as well as the idea that our relatively small presence is a protection against the fucking scum of the earth folks taking control and sending women back home from school.
  9. Article in the DMN about all the contributions Ted is getting and how he has 5 million cash on hand. Assholes think this guy is really keen.
  10. I tend to be slow to react in my old age, but this is pissing me off: District leaders sent a note home to all parents, explaining that the students were disciplined. However, some parents were upset with how the note was written, as it didn’t once use the word racism, but instead called the behavior “cyberbullying.” I'll admit I'm slow to throw out the "racism" charge but what the fuck? [Caveat: Maybe they were trading white kids as indentured servants. If so, I stand corrected.]
  11. (For added credibility, pretend the guy saying this is white.)
  12. Promising Young Woman (2020) I liked it a good deal but kinda feel like it's been over-hyped. Might have enjoyed more if it had been a surprise, for instance like Heathers - didn't know what to expect on that one. Also, in regard to Mulligan, I may have had the same problem. I really like her, and I'm thinking this might have worked better with a semi-unknown in the staring roll. Maybe I'm underestimating how hard it was to pull the thing off. (Of the best picture nominees Mank>>>Sound of Metal/Trial Chicago/Promising (tie)).
  13. Amazon - The average tenure for an Amazon employee is 9 to 12 months... Glassdoor. When your attrition is that high, it's really hard to gain any footing, unless you have some really good "salts" and management is REALLY shitty. I'll admit, every story I heard on the Amazon election was completely and totally one sided in favor of the union.
  14. Because US labor laws allow companies to put their anti union messages on company property -- because it belongs to the company. I'd expect both the union and the company to pull out all the stops in winning the election. If the company violated the law, then they will have a re-vote or the Board will grant some kind of relief.
  15. I don't doubt this plays a part, but what manager would want to manage in a union environment vs. a non-union environment? Unions are an added expense. The way to quickly increase the number of union shops is for governments to require all government contracts to go to union shops. You can make it easier for unions to win elections, but that efforts are easy to push against since companies are private entities with a whole lot of rights.
  16. Plus the fact that if organized, the employees will pay union dues and their salaries won't go any higher. The problem is that solidarity doesn't sell unless you are in a shop where people are or are preparing to be long time employees. I'm not sure what the tenure for these Amazon folks are company wide but I bet it's short enough to be a big disadvantage for organizing.
  17. Onward (2020). I thought it had a couple of clever ideas but just didn't work. Very well meaning, though.
  18. So depressing. In any case -- My favorite bad Alabaman. My favorite good Alabamian:
  19. Tell us what you think. I would have liked living in that house.
