  1. Outside of a couple of plays, last night's performance by our secondary was more of a product of Penix Jr's pinpoint accuracy and Washington's WR's ability to make contested catches than egregiously poor secondary play. Their receivers simply refuse to drop anything and on top of that they make plays for their QB on the rare occasion he's off target. I still can't believe we still had a chance to completely burglarize last night's game, because in all honesty, given the mistakes we made in terms of penalties, turnovers and simply not having the ball, we were extremely lucky to have a chance to win with the last play. Speaking of, has Quinn Ewers ever really thrown a fast ball. I can't remember him throwing a ball that wasn't of the feathery variety. If he throws that last pass on more of a line there's a good chance we come away with the win.
  2. Everybody is blaming it on Sarkisian but Ewers is the one who decides who to throw to. Other than the WTF call to Jaden the other passes were decisions by Ewers. He didn't have to throw those fade routes. Especially with as poorly timed as they were.
  3. 4 chances from the 15 and we didn't throw one catchable into the end zone. Great season, man what could've been.
  4. Okay I was wondering how the tiebreaker broke down. I wasn't sure whether we still needed the Eagles to lose to the Giants as well.
  5. LOL, this is actually a good point. Belichick would be much more sophisticated in going about this sort of gamesmanship.
  6. Try to follow along here. My only point of contention with @Huckleberry is whether or not Campbell was being dumb in trying to confuse the Cowboys by sending multiple OLs to the ref despite knowing that the ref will tell the other team who the extra eligible player is. Huckleberry thinks it's a pointless endeavor. My only claim is that Campbell probably has a better feel for what is and isn't pointless to do in fooling the other team. Rex Ryan confirms that this is just the sort of thing done for that expressed purpose of potentially confusing the other team. All it takes is 1 of the 11 defenders to fuck up. As far as the ref clearly stating 70 and thus negating the need for the Cowboys to even worry about 68, I agree.
  7. Dude Rex Ryan in the clip posted earlier mentions that it's routine to send multiple OL over to the ref for the explicit purpose of confusing the other team.
  8. According to Rex Ryan coaches routinely have multiple Olinemen go to the referee when reporting eligibility for the explicit purpose of confusing the other team. It's just that as fans we don't typically pay attention to details like this. Regardless, like I sad before, the tripping penalty was a 30 yard penalty and none of this 2pt conversion stuff is even consequential had the refs not totally botched it.

  10. Your argument is that Campbell is daft and has no feel for the NFL and the routine behavior of the players who make up the league. And that his endeavor to potentially cause confusion or trick 1 player out of the 11 on defense was futile because the refs are going to tell them who is eligible anyway. You of course know better than a man who has spent the last 20+ years in the profession. Why does anyone attempt to cause confusion ever? What's up with all this new age pre-snap motion? I mean the players all know their assignments. Why attempt to lull players into routine plays and then run a counter to that play? I mean the players are incapable of being tricked.
  11. I guess the argument is that 70 being declared eligible and then lining up as a guard and covered up makes it an illegal formation, but as far as the WR next to 68 he isn't covering up 68. Im not clear on the rules though. so 70 being declared as elgibile and then lining up as a guard may not mean anything. Here's a shot of the WR next to 68 though: https://x.com/SportsSturm/status/1741333825014087755?s=20
  12. Yeah it's totally surprising that defensive players pay much more attention to the personnel packages the opposing offenses send onto the field than the 45 different times over the course of a game that the refs tell them about player eligibility. You're being extraordinarily obtuse here. Go watch the video the ref is only talking to at most 3 or 4 players when he goes to them the other 7 or 8 players arent even paying attention.
  13. I need to find it, but Bob mentioned it following either the Dolphins or Bills game when people were complaining about Parsons not getting any calls. He listed off like 5 different pass rushers and there were a surprisingly small numbers of holding calls that went in their favor over the time period examined.
  14. Holding calls aren't called as much as many would like to believe. I heard a stat the other day that TJ Watt has only had one holding call made for him in the last 2 and half years. Star pass rushers simply don't get holding called in their favor. If anything their effectiveness as pass rushers hurts them when it comes to getting holding calls in their favor.
  15. A lot is being made about the bolded point, but numerous former players have said that defensive players often ignore or miss the specifics of what the refs tell them in terms of ineligibility or eligibility of linemen prior to each play. This is just the sort of routine interaction that can get easily overlooked by players in the moment. So the idea that Campbell's attempt to fool them offered 0 benefit is wrong. They're not playing a sterile environment where hearing is at an optimum, and additionally, half of the players are just paying attention to who does and doesnt come on the field so there was obviously a purpose in Campbell attempting to cause confusion. He knows how little attention players typically pay to these sorts of machinations. He even went so far as to go over the mechanics of this with the refs prior to the game so that they would get it right, and this trash crew still got it wrong. All that being said, the tripping call was a 30 yard penalty that kept Detroit in the game just as much, if not more, than McCarthy's game management antics. So ultimately it all came out in the wash and the right team won in the end.
  16. This aint track or any other individual sport. He did everything he could've done in his first playoff game to beat Green Bay (301yds 3TDs) only to have the defense give it up in the end. This nonsense that wins and losses are only on the QB in arguably the most team dependent sport on the planet is idiotic. I realize that sports talk and debate shows have devolved into incessantly spouting this nonsense, but it doesn't make it true.
  17. OK, that's much better, but not sure Drew Allar is much of a running threat, at least not if the shifty variety. Kansas' offense is essentially a new aged option offense with great passing concepts mixed in. I havent been impressed with Drew Allar all season. He was clearly a 5 star based on his physical traits and not on his ability to play QB.
  18. What a second? Franklin looked at his troubled offense and thought to himself that Kentucky's offense was the answer.
  19. Nobody hates former Longhorn players like Longhorn "fans". Flipping burgers with a masters degree. Yeah, that's his only option.
  20. He's doing what he's doing on usage rate less than Jonathan Kuminga. Chet is literally only being held down by his own team.
  21. It's counter intuitive, but college ball is the more restrictive game in terms of movement and space. Zones and poorer shooting in the college game have the effect of a more restrictive game that prevents players from show casing their athleticism without racking up fouls.
  22. Broad empathy and understanding for some, broader skepticism for others.
  23. Oh yeah, I forgot you grew up in Plugerville so you know all about black people. Believe me Ive seen your insipid takes on black people over the years and held my tongue. But not today motherfucker, Ive got time. Bitchass mutherfucker.
  24. Nah Im calling you out on your bullshit. Especially when it comes to race. I dont give a fuck if Im the only one one here who calls you out on that bullshit.
  25. There's nothing more predictable than a white person claiming a black person in an authoritative position just so happens to hate or resent white people. It's a default setting for some, that or believing said black person is dumb.
