Raiders are doing well. Came out of the gate fast and then gave up a run. Back up to a 9 point lead now. It'll be interesting to see if anyone runs out of gas with 4 or 5 minutes left in the game. Hoping it stays close as a spectator.

Tech and Pokes, let's get 'er going.

NASCAR country. Everybody thinks they're Richard Petty and many end up like Rob Moroso.

Shit, I just heard her get some airplay the other night. RIP, great, unique voice.

I'm mainly talking shit because of affiliation. I can't believe SMU/TCU isn't a game this year. SMU is pretty spicy and featuring one of the best players in the country. Not sure what happened on the schedule (maybe they ducked us again because they're pussies).
I just heard last night (I think) that Tristan Clark, the Baylor big guy who blew out his knee and was supposedly retired from bball, is back in the game on the SMU squad. Best wishes to that guy, he was supposed to be a key part of the team that won the NC last year. Losing him is why Drew went to the small guard lineup that proved to be so successful.

So Tech turns around and has a makeup game with Pokes tomorrow. Then regularly scheduled game on Saturday. Man, it's like punishment for getting sick in this league. Baylor showed the way last year, just wait so far into the season to "get COVID" that there isn't time...
-
Alrighty then, so much for the perfect season. Congrats to Tech. Defense is all about effort and the Red Raiders gave more effort than the home team in Waco last night.
Drew doesn't have the senior guards he had last year and he's going to have to find something that works for the team he has this year. Against average effort the Bears can win on talent and good effort. They still need to find that next level because that's what opponents are bringing when they play Baylor this year because of what last year's Baylor team accomplished. Sins of the older brothers I guess.

10-4 Baylor on the boards so far. That's where Tech was abusing the JHawks so I'm a bit surprised by that. I think Raiders had 54 rebounds against TN this year.

Prolly not going to see Sochan tonight, ankle is still jacked up I think.

It's not THAT bad out, jfc. Just cover your head with some shiplap.

My first disappointment with Dallas was the 1994 NFC championship game. Got down 21-0 before you could even get settled in and SF did enough to hold off Dallas. .
And yes, it was pass interference on Deion...
I was just trying to remember what year that game was. Holy fuck, '94? I'm old.

I'll check the final score in the morning to not be completely clueless in case the game comes up in conversation tomorrow.

We have a very kind stretch leading up to the Tennessee game. Which means after the Tennessee game we hit the meat grinder.
Coming up is:
OU
@ISU
KSU
OSU
@TCU
Tenn
Honestly - that needs to be 4 wins. Whether that's 4-1 with a loss to Tenn or 3-2 with a win shouldn't matter too much - assuming Tenn doesn't completely suck dick down the stretch.
If we go 3-3 we are really going to be looking down the barrel. Here are the next 5 after Tenn:
@TTU
ISU
KU
@Baylor
@OU
We get a bit of respite after that with Tech and TCU at home before we finish in Morgantown, Baylor in Austin and then Lawrence. 10 wins or better in conference is starting to look like a great result for this team. I'd probably take 9-9.
Hold onto your butts, folks. It's gonna be a doozy.
I did the maths in my head and I think you should be 4-1 in that stretch going into the TN game. No worse than 3-2.

I think there's a good chance, particularly in the case of someone with some celebrity status, they have fluffers and "yes" people around them who are clueless about the nature of alcoholism. When you're constantly accustomed to other's attention it's human nature to offer up your thoughts when questioned and your sense of self may be inaccurate. I'm coming up on 6 years and about all I'll share with anyone outside of sponsoring them is what it was like, what happened and what it's like now. And I don't randomly volunteer that much. Maybe that's an ego problem for me and maybe I should wear my sobriety a little more openly. IDK.

ISU leading OU in Norman.
-
Baylor with the slow start today but taking over now with 2 minutes to play.
-
Baylor's Jeremy Sochan left the game earlier with a sprained ankle. Came back out with a boot on his foot. TCU's Miles may have injured his hand earlier and hasn't been quite the same since.
Adam Flagler has 5 3's in the 2nd half.
BU leads 63-58 at the U8 TO. Baylor to inbounds after.
Flagler drains another 3.

Just saw that. What gives?
Sloppy play. 9 turnovers. Miles for TCU has been automatic. TCU was down 8 and went on a 14-2 run. I don't recall anyone going on a run like that against Baylor yet this year.

Baylor down by 6 at the half to TCU in Fort Mirth.
-
What were the odds? Being Vegas that seems like a fair question.

Let's not go too far into the "few bad apples" myth. Tech fans are notoriously jealous little brothers who are obsessed with their sports teams being praised more than they deserve. They're like Aggies, but with a somewhat more developed sense of humor and far better looking coeds.
This doesn't mean Texas fans aren't notoriously arrogant douchebags who think UT sports are more relevant these days than they really are, either. Both can be true. That said, if Sark were to elevate the football program to a national championship level (good one, LOL) and then bolt for 'bama when Saban retires, I wouldn't think anything more than "well, kind of a lateral move given the fact we just won a title too, but whatever, they're as good as it gets".
Tech fans would incessantly whine about Beard leaving for Duke. Perception, how does it work?
Wouldn't a more apt comparison be Sark leaving for BYU?
