  1. For ESPN for sure. If it was a bad deal for both parties then one would think the agreement would be easy to back out of. Unless one party was partially using it to dictate terms to the other party, which is clearly what happened here.
  2. The Texas recruits started leaving in droves when aTm joined the SEC. UT joining the SEC may help bump UT up a couple of spots in the recruiting hierarchy but overall does anyone think that this is going to keep more Texas recruits in state? I don't anyone thinks that.
  3. Naw, ESPN, in cahoots with the SEC dictated what was to happen and everyone said yes sir. UT didn't have a say in the matter. Clearly there was no plan from any of the Big12 or Texas schools, just got played and then did what they were told.
  4. Oh I'm not relating these places to football, just to life in general. But no I would generally not associate with folks from Mississippi nor am I impressed with their football history. Besides I brushed shoulders with enough Ole Miss fans at the Peach bowl to know those are not the types of folks I need to be around. Same goes for baseball and both Mississippi schools and Arkansas. Just not my crowd.
  5. 100% agree with this. This has been a slow burn and a long time coming from ESPN and the SEC. They have been plotting this for decades and played the Big12 and the state of Texas to obtain possession and control of one of it's most valuable assets, football. I was a UT and Big12 fan before I went to TCU as I grew up in Austin. Original Big12 was where it was at and that should still be the premiere conference. The state of Texas got a second chance in the Big12 after seeing the SEC take Arkansas and blew it. ESPN got everything they wanted after destroying the Big East and now the Big 12. I never wanted TCU in the Big12, I wanted them in the Big East, ESPN destroyed both. Everyone outside of the former confederacy just lost a bit of interest in college football, but hey congratulations to ESPN and Bama.
  6. I hear good things about Boise and have actually been curious to go check it out. Mississippi and Alabama not so much. Oh man I love Eddie Murphy, Did you see Coming to America 2? Hilarious.
  7. I'm just stating what happened and calling it what it is. Not sure why you are so salty towards TCU about it.
  8. What an embarrassment this whole thing is. The state of Texas got played like a fiddle by Bama and a northeastern sports broadcasting company. Power conference based in Texas? Nope Texas recruits leaving the state in droves? Yep Any control over what is happening? Nope Texas has been raped, pillaged and burned to the ground.
  9. A quick dose of post Big12 reality? There is only the SEC, Clemson and Ohio St now. College football is becoming more regionalized rapidly. TV #'s will be great in the south and Ohio, the rest of the country will tune out. College football is the new NASCAR. Fanbase of folks from Mississippi, Bama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, Georgia and South Carolina.
  10. I'd prefer 6. 5 P5 champions and the highest ranked G5.
  11. He is Legend. This just proves it, he was better than Kobe and LeBron.
  12. Glad to be rid of Cumbie, will be fascinating to see how he fairs at TT. Should be set at T next year with the Memphis transfer and Coker, with Avila at C.
  13. If Given the chance Dalton will take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl.
  14. Texas HS Football @texashsfootball · Apr 26 2020 NFL Draft: States with the Most Drafted Players 1: Texas 34 2: California 24 3: Georgia 21 4: Florida 18 #2020NFLDraft #NFLDraft #TXHSFB https://twitter.com/CoachGWest/status/1254460208996376578?s=20 The conference overall could do better producing NFL talent for sure. But just talking about UT, haven't you guys been recruiting highly? Is it possible there is a developmental issue? I don't know just spitballing, adding some Cali school would probably help.
  15. Would love for the Big12 to add the Pac south and call it a day.
  16. Washington Mailbag: Would UW jump without WSU if invited to another conference? By Christian Caple 3h ago 3 SEATTLE — I don’t know how I found time for it, what with my social calendar bursting at the seams, but, by golly, we’ve got ourselves a mailbag. Would Jen Cohen value the relationships with Washington State/Oregon State enough to not go with Oregon/USC to the Big 12 if/when that happens? — Jason J. If conference realignment and/or expansion ever become that serious of a consideration, there will be many other decision-makers at the table besides the athletic director — like the president and Board of Regents, for example. The relationship between UW and WSU at the AD level has been a cordial one; Cohen got along well with ex-WSU athletic director Bill Moos and has a strong relationship with current AD Pat Chun. I’m not as sure what that relationship looks like among the campus heads. There was the spat a few years back involving the new medical school in Spokane, but it seems as if UW president Ana Mari Cauce and WSU president Kirk... https://theathletic.com/1751437/2020/04/16/washington-huskes-mailbag-conference-realignment-jimmy-lake-sean-mcgrew/ Sorry paywall...
  17. Yes, divisions may end up being the preference and the scheduling model could be determined by schools #15 and #16, depending on who those may be. Some of the reasons pods may be preferable: More central time zone kickoffs for West coast teams. Getting the West coast teams earlier kickoffs one way or another seems to be an important part of maximizing their value, same for any team really, they need good kickoff times. Pods allows the west coast teams to play 4 central teams a year as opposed to 2 w/divisions. That has the West coast teams playing 2 games in central times zones every year as opposed to just once a year in divisions. Pods allow every team to play each other every other year as opposed to once every 4 years. Minimized travel/optimal travel. Difference schools may have differing opinions here, but generally speaking each team would travel to each pod location once a year. Which seems optimal. UT for example would still have a large portion of the conference schedule in Texas, then also travel to the Southwest(LA/Phoenix) and Northwest(S.F./Seattle/Portland) once a year, as well as Kansahoma(perhaps every other year w/RRR). Maximize championship game matchups. Allows for potential conference championship games between UT and OU or Oregon USC, while also providing the conference some flexibility in maximizing the matchup. TLDR: For UT pods would mean playing K-State, Kansas, Ok St less and the west coast schools more. Perhaps a north and a south division?
  18. Nice recall, Mideast would be perfect considering UL and WVU. Unfortunately it would not let me edit.
