To clarify, I was stating that you are, at the very minimum, as smart as a first grader, which is a level of intelligence that this woman has not achieved.  I’m quite certain you are much smarter than that.  I was setting the floor for her, not your ceiling.

No worries.  Snoop Dogg Gravy GIF

Congratulations on having the intelligence of a first grader.  I wish more of this country was at your level.

Stupid people like this woman should be called out.  And anyone that attends Trump rallies is a Grade A moron.

The world would have been better off if more people like this woman had succumbed to COVID.

I'm just stating the very obvious.  Sorry you got your panties in a twist.

My friend, Mrs.LL and I will be joining you in NYC in just a few years.  I have to get the youngest out of the house and safely into college (she's in 7th Grade now).  But once that's done, I can get the fuck out of this shithole and never fucking look back.

And by the way, I'm a 6th Generation Texan.  Saying that pains me.  But then I remember that one set of great-grandparents were Nth Generation Czechs; another set of ancestors were once Nth Generation English.  But they all figured out at some point that they needed to leave the shithole they were in to seek their entertainment and fortunes elsewhere.  And it won't take six more generations for my descendants to wonder "why the fuck did our family ever live in Texas?"

Yay!  I am still sad I missed you guys when you came up in Jan.

I can recommend Sutton Place as a neighborhood that is central but quiet.

On my dad's side, I am only a 3rd generation Texan, but on my mom's side, I am at least 5th generation, possibly 6th, but Smith is a common name.  I have a much better lifestyle here in NYC than I ever did in Houston

seems like you've been in ny longer than that.  yes, it had started to become a foodie destination by 2019.  probably a little moreso now but what isnt?

5 years in August.  Granted Covid felt like forever.

I am leaning back towards going to Rome in April.  As I do more research about Liberation Day in Rome, the more I think it would be fun to be there.

  5. London trip on March 16 is all booked.  Then Paris for the weekend at the end.

While in London, I will be working a lot, but trying to make time for some outstanding meals.  Will hit up The Devonshire for an early Sunday dinner.  Monday night, I have dinner booked at Chishuru (the new one), though that one could change if my friend is up for meet up.  Tuesday, a colleague and I are hitting Brunswich House.  Wednesday is open so far.  Thursday, heading to The Grazing Goat in Marylebone to catch up with a bunch of former colleagues.

I am trying to get things signed off on Thursday before I leave so I can fuck off to Paris early on Friday.  Staying at Le Roch, where I always stay.  Hitting up Lafayette's for dinner on Friday.  Lafayette's is a new Mory Sacko restaurant in the former home of the Marquis de Lafayette, which is also now a hotel.  The space looks amazing.  I have my fingers crossed that a last minute cancellation means I can get into MoSuke, but this is a grand back up plan.

Doing lunch Saturday at Juveniles, with Saturday dinner open for now.  Then Sunday, I fly back to NYC around 4 PM with a layover in London (a very short one, so my BA status will be helpful!).

The second trip to London will be in April, and will be until we have our UK auditors sign our UK accounts.  Afterwards, I am still trying to decide where to fuck off to.  I was going to go to Rome, but there is a national holiday smack dab in the middle of that where everything closes.  So then have thought about Vienna, but I think I want some sun.  Looking into South of Spain or Portugal at the moment, but nothing booked on this trip at all.  And 3rd time in London this year will be in Mid-June when a new member of my team joins.  I will at that point have 5 employees in London vs. 1 in NYC and 1 in Houston.  For that one, I have no idea what I am doing.

Baffling.  We've had it about the same amount of time and we just logged in, updated some information, checked everything, paid and all of us got the approval back quickly.  I hate bureaucracy.  At least give thanks that you also don't have to deal with the Italian government like I do.  That's a whole different level of banging your head against a wall.

I did finally get my conditional approval while I was in Asia.  I did my interview on re-entry in the US.  All good.  I had not interviewed since I first entered the program in 2011 or 2012.  This was only my second renewal.

well...you convinced me! :) we added a day/night in Berchtesgaden which should allow us to see visit Burg Hohenwerfen (castle built around 1076, with a funicular!) and Eisriesenwelt (ice caves). we cut out one night in Kitzigen - dad said other than a quick nostalgia tour around town there really wasn't much to see (it's barely bigger than Palestine) this also makes our travel to Strasbourg not quite so condensed - we'll have an entire day to make our way there, can take our time and if we're feeling like it we may even be able to make a pitstop at either Neuschwanstein Castle or Linderhoff Palace.

all lodging booked, all flights and trains booked, rental car booked. i honestly feel pretty good about the itinerary, i think we're gonna have ample time to see what we want to see as well as just chill out a bit in various places...

firm activities already pre-booked are 1) City Segway tour in Strasbourg, 2) dinner cruise on the Seine (this is the only night dad/sis will be in Paris, seemed like an easy way for them to get to 'see' a lot of things in such a short period), 3) walking Secret Food Tour in Monmarte neighborhood, and 4) half-day Tuscany winery tour out of Florence.

still need to book/get tickets early to a number of things...

so has anybody visited Mont St. Michel? i'm not even sure how to do this as far as timing - like, do you have to study the tides and figure out when you can even get there?? :P

also need to layout a general 'area' itinerary for our days in Paris, Florence, and Rome. i mean, i have a huge list of stuff to see in those cities but i know they aren't all right next to each other. and at least one day in Paris i don't really want to plan anything, like just stroll around and see what we see. and other than Dublin Castle and St. Patrick's Cathedral (both within 1 km of our hotel) i expect we'll spend our time in Dublin just hanging out with our friends and relaxing/recuperating.

i'll be working on fleshing out our itinerary in the coming weeks, as well as restaurant recommendations/reservations. (i've already got Trattoria Sostanza in Florence noted...i'm going to ask our hotel to make our reservation for us! :))

23 nights total...officially the longest trip we've ever taken. and we'll be coming home right as high tourist season kicks off, good timing!

I’ve been to Mont St. Michel.  We just went during a day.  Had no issues.

Shouldn't we all go in and start buying these up, causing the prices to go up.  Then Maga idiots start buying in, causing it to go up even more.  Then we sell, sell, sell.  Profit?!?

  9. Just got info from my cousin who is the Mayor of Shamrock.  He said they are all ok, with fires about 20 miles north, with winds out of the south (this is as of this AM, fyi).  He did say possible rain or snow this AM, which would be nice.

So, got that going, which is nice.
