  1. I feel like this bodes well. Milroe should be good for 1.5 turnovers. Between that and our (supposedly) improved o-line play + definitely better receivers, I can't help myself in feeling like we are going to win by 10.
  2. Agree with everything here except Ossai being a beanpole…I hooped with him at Greg his true freshman year before he ever stepped foot on the field; dude was a fucking monster when he was 18. Made the other freshmen football players who were playing with us look like children physically. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. For someone who’s had the media in his face 24/7 since he was 14, with all the pressure and expectation in the world, it is truly incredible that the guy has never done anything wrong. Never been involved in a scandal, never cheated, never gotten a DUI or been charged with assaulting some idiot at a bar - stuff you read about rich young athletes doing every week on ESPN. The worst thing he’s done is The Decision, which was just awkward and cringy. And even that generated proceeds for a charity! In my mind I can’t think of an athlete who has so lived up to greatness on and off the court from such a young age; it’s truly incredible. Edit - he’d be a great asset to the UT brand IMO. 4. I originally posted this in the wrong thread: I’m not even sure this is possible but there are recruiting service gurus on this site so it’s worth a shot…could we take this year’s roster and put players back through the class calculators from the years they were signed in order to see what kind of class rankings we actually would have had if the class was composed of just the guys left on the roster? Might give a much better indication of how under talented we actually are… I get sick of my Tech family saying how Texas always gets the best recruits and we lose with five stars blah blah blah…the talent on this roster is very obviously sub par, especially on the offensive line. We are much closer to TCU level talent than Ohio State, despite the recruiting rankings saying otherwise over the past five seasons. The notion that we do less with more is so fucking old and a tired idea. We do about how you would expect given middling talent with actual bad talent along the o line. We have two really talented players as best I can tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Renewing the rivalries with Arky and Aggy will result in some of the very best shit talking Surly has to offer for for lurkers like me and I’m totally here for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Scratch that found it on another thread. Sorry for littering on the thread.
  8. I looked hoping there was a thread for the game but does anyone happen to know if the state championship between Southlake and Westlake is streaming online?
  9. She’s beautiful. In the wild a 9.5. On the internet she’s an 8. Either way elite.
  10. I love that Sam embodied everything good about COLLEGE football. The “born to be the QB at Texas” thing was a great marketing schtick for the team, but it’s clear he really bleeds burnt orange and loves the university. He’s an awesome ambassador for Texas football and the school at large. Unfortunately, I worry that the new college football landscape will diminish and ultimately do away with players being so connected to schools. I have this sinking feeling that Sam’s departure represents the end of what I have loved about Texas football for the past 20 years...that I am a graduate of a school I feel a deep connection to in a place I love, and I share that with Sam, seems like a feeling that will be hard for new college football fans to obtain as teams like Texas become more professionalized and the attachment to the university itself becomes more distant. I think Texas will thrive in the new college football environment, because our resources are unmatched. In fact, we may thrive more than we have in the more “collegiate” landscape. But any excitement I feel at those prospects doesn’t diminish the loss of a college football fandom that might become a relic of the past. I hope Sam wasn’t the last great COLLEGE football QB at Texas, but he might be.
  11. @closetojumping can you elaborate, or do you have any more information, from your friends at Bama who implied Sark isn’t living as cleanly as the media portrays? Does this mean he’s had relapses while in Tuscaloosa? Has he moved from alcohol into other vices? He sounded like a pretty legit recovering addict in his presser, but if he’s that good at just saying the right things while continuing to use then we have way bigger issues than a narcissist child like Herman.
  12. We should win 9+ games next year. At the very least look competitive against OU. Going to the CCG doesn’t seem unreasonable. Purdy should be gone, Sanders and Rattler will be challenging but no one else returns a talented, experienced QB unless we consider Duggan to be on Sanders’ level.
  13. I get that it’s easy to criticize Texas but the realities of recruiting these days seem to me to necessitate moves like today’s. I know it bothers some that Texas fans understand that we have the resources to have really high expectations and do crazy things financially to try and meet those expectations, but that’s inherent to the university. We have rich tradition, we have access to fertile recruiting, we have good (improving) facilities, we have more money than God. We should make moves like today’s because we can. A lot of universities can’t afford to pursue their expectations as vigorously as we do. Also, I’ve lurked here for a long time and all you ever post is negative stuff about Texas...if you are so upset by our fans why do you show up here?
  14. I’m willing to hope that all the lumps Sark has taken have served as lessons and that he’s matured and grown to understand what it takes to succeed at the highest levels. By most accounts he is a brilliant coach who has had personal demons. If he has greatness in him (which by most accounts he does) I’d love for us and this job to be the situation that allows him to live up to that potential. Honestly (I’m sure I’ll get negged like crazy for this), Herman might have some greatness in him too, but he hasn’t grown or humbled himself to anything in his entire career. Maybe failing at your self-proclaimed dream job is enough to actually learn something and grow. If not then he doesn’t deserve anything better than the failure he had here.
