It seems like a minor thing, but there are definitely recruits out there who hate flying, or worse scared of it...and that will affect the west coast B1G teams in recruiting to some degree. Most players don't mind flights of 2 hours or less, but we're talking a minimum of 5 hours from coast to coast, (if non-stop) not counting bus time to the airport and any possible delays for weather, mechanical issues or crazy ladies seeing motherfuckers who arent real etc.

The Pac leadership were world class idiots for sticking to their guns instead of aggressively pursuing expansion. Hell, they would still be a conference at the expense of making a few schools temporarily angry by bringing in the Longhorns (complete with LHN) into the Pac along with OU..and tag-alongs Tceh, and Okie Lite.

    Not just the travel itself, but travel to the fucking Midwest in winter. Plenty of Texas kids don’t want to play in the shoe in late October, or then it hour in mid November, or at Nebraska after thanksgiving. USC used to be be able to sell warm weather games; half of those went {poof}

Houston is one of their biggest if not THE BIGGEST city out of state for their alumni.

It's one of the main reasons they have always had (even before aggy's 100 yr decision to move SEC) a rivalry with A&M. They both claim Houston as one of, if not their main recruiting ground.

I was surprised too last night by our turn out but it was pretty close to that two yrs ago when wife and I went to the same tourney with them in it. Their fan base travels extremely well, especially to there

It is the biggest alumni city far and away for LSU. It’s not unreasonable to think there are an equal amount of Longhorn and Tiger alumni in Houston when you consider that Texas alumni are spread out over 3 major cities. Further, they are very proud of their baseball team. Honestly it didn’t surprise me at all to see that many LSU fans there, and had Texas won the national championship last year the stadium would have been mostly orange.

It's pretty good. They've made a huge effort to improve their image academically, and I think it's working. I'd still place it a tier (or more) below a school like UT Austin though.

They’re also wrong, since he has visited USC (out of state) and will visit LSU and likely one or two others before it’s all said and done. I may like Texas odds over all others, but I’d probably take the field over Texas at this point in time.

  4. Had a great meal for work at Bludorn on Taft last week. Would recommend.

Edit - not Italian, wrong forum. But it was still great.

  5. Just finished. Wow. I thought the three minute scene by the fire with Foster randomly yelling at Navarro for no reason out of nowhere was the worst television I have ever seen.

Then I watched the cleaning lady ending and that surpassed it. That is truly the worst bit of TV that I have ever watched completely through. The only redeeming quality of the entire series was a few of the songs.

  6. Ethan Burke 1 spot behind Kelvin Banks, a three year starting left tackle and one of the best offensive lineman to ever play at Texas, tells you all you need to know about who prepared this list and how much crack they smoke.

Sam Spiegelman just switched his Texas pick on Chad Woodfork to Tech.

I can promise you that the quote above about telling a kid to slow down that wanted to commit was 100% not Woodfork. Though, Tech is recruiting him hard and is not a bad prediction.

Spiegelman is an idiot for putting that pick in in the first place.

There is a lot of work to be done still on this recruitment. I would put Texas in the top 3 or so with LSU and USC also looking attractive.  Texas Tech is recruiting him very hard. (Bo Davis leaving will have an impact, but it’s not like he was the most active recruiter to begin with.)

Then the Texans passed on Derrick Johnson and then Vince Young. I watched more NFL and Houston NFL football in 2023 than I had in the last decade combined. Maybe there's hope, but that Bills game may have really broken me. We'll see.

The Texans passed on Justin Tucker to let him go undrafted. Instead they drafted Fat Randy Bullock in the 5th round. Idiots in the back office.

$80 bucks for 3 rounds of strange is a damn fine investment.

I believe the term you are looking for is ROI on investment. (Thanks Michigan)

Hello everyone! I’m AutographJimmy (AKA Jimmy) from Meghan’s team at Autograph. I’m here to take feedback and answer any questions you have about our app.

We all are psyched about our partnership with Surly Horns and can’t wait to get to know real, impassioned Texas fans—and to start rewarding your fandom.

Wanted to address some recurring questions:

    • Android release is on the roadmap - will keep this group posted on timing!
    • Our feed only includes blogs & podcasts at the moment BUT we are working to incorporate other content mediums (forums) like Surly

Let us know what features you would like to see and would love your feedback on the types of rewards you would be stoked about!

Excited to get to know you all! 🤘

was one of the other content mediums you're looking at X/Twitter?  There are posters on there that report/include short articles or commentary on Texas sports that I wouldn't mind seeing in this app along with the rest.

Without the Saban effect, they better get used to being on a more even playing field in recruits' eyes.

Yup. Gotta figure the Saban promo code they have been using in the NIL space over the last decade is about to expire. Good luck competing with the larger/wealthier alumni bases now.

You are wearing orange colored glasses if you think this close to the season isnt significantly more difficult than anything we've seen the last 10 years, ranked or not.

This is true. It’s also true that you don’t  need to be a one loss team next year to make the playoffs. I’m not sure that I could see 5 SEC teams but it’s entirely possible 4 make it in.

You could drop one, maybe even two of those games (if you won all the rest) and still make the playoffs.
