  1. The jump used to be 14U to 16U with 16U being the equivalent of high school JV. I don't remember seeing 15U teams in the summer, it used to be a level for freshman that didn't make their H.S. team. The weekday games were never an issue because of WFH. We'd usually stay at the same hotel and players would carpool from the hotel. The only real drawback was all the out of town travel. The only time it got rough was when one kid had to be in Atlanta and the other in Dallas.

Diane Rhem would have been a cougar in the early 1990s. She is pushing 90 years old now and that isn't a cougar, that's weird fetish territory.
  3. I am concerned about what we saw with the secondary but would be more concerned if we were playing the usual Big 12 schedule against a lot of pass happy teams. I don't see anyone on our SEC schedule built to exploit our weakness in the secondary.
  4. Yes, things ease up at 16U with games spread out over a few days instead of the the kiddie ball Sat/Sun format. The high school format is so much better than the kid tournaments. Oddly, the kids play a lot more games throughout the year and spend more time playing in a day than the high school players.
  5. I agree with all of this but will die on the hill that says Mac Brown fucked up the QB2 situation that costed the team a National Championship. GG was thrown to the wolves and did a pretty good job and likely would have done better with more game reps. I won't even get into the Sherrod Harris situation but Mack fucked up the QB roster for years after the 2009 season.
  6. I've never owned one but an assistant coach used to bring one to practice in 12U. I think they are a decent supplemental tool for identifying mechanical breakdowns in a batters swing. Personally, I don't believe in using supplemental tools on kids below nine years old. A tee, L-screen, and a bucket of balls for kids 9 and below is more than enough. I believe it's best to let a kid develop their natural swing before you start tinkering with it as well as teaching the fundamentals of a swing. As mentioned above, I coached 3 of my sons. My eldest, had the unfortunate timing of being my first experiment in over coaching. My oldest at 9 years old resembled Roy McAvoy from Tin Cup.
  7. But Elon is trying to save humanity. What's a little pollution in the Colorado River compared to saving humanity?
  8. Having coached three sons from tee-ball through 13U travel with a number of good All-Star runs, I will advise you to enjoy it as much as possible.
  9. That's called whiskey dick.
  10. Usually the defense looks more prepared in the spring game. Is the offense really good or is our secondary a problem? Run defense looks fine but the secondary, woof.
