  1. Dang. Legs Diamond. Haven’t heard them mentioned in years. Opening act for Triumph back in 1980 or so. Texas Hall on UTA campus. Good luck with your woman.
  2. Good for you. I’m still off the Hagen but on the Zyn 3 train.
  3. I respect your opinion. It’s why we have horse races.
  4. Oh, dear Lord. Right next door to Fishing Tackle Unlimited.
  5. Perhaps we need to define how "important" is used as a descriptor. Certainly the word can be used within the realm of music, its development, originality, so on and so forth. The same can apply to individual songwriters and musicians. All within the framework of music. Innovators, virtuosos, classics, etc. Sure. There are surely important people, songs and compositions. Using "important" as a descriptor when referring to any particular music or musical piece itself or to the musician / composer / singer as if its importance is somehow world-affecting on the macro level seems aggrandizing and silly to me. I recall a few years ago that Guns and Roses had a new album or a tour that was kicking off and the promotional spot on TV delicately mentioned that it was "the most important" such and such of the last so many years. Important? Really? What makes those meatheads and their music so important? We're talking GnR here. Sure, you can really dig them, rock out to them and enjoy them. Important? Hardly. Similarly, Brandi Carlile released The Joke and someone on Surly decreed the song to be "so important!" Certainly they can like the song. I agree it is thoughtful, well sung and arranged. Important? For someone? Sure. Just important because, "well it's important!" Nah. It's just my opinion. I'm not looking to fight over it. You asked. OK....let's fight.
  6. Impressive 3rd attempt. Would you like a coffee refill?
  7. I’ve been there a few times. It is one of those burgers that leaves an odd after taste to me. It’s really odd and I don’t know why. The last time I had a burger at Chili’s it was the same thing. Who knows?

  9. On topic: importance. I find naming a song or musician as β€œimportant” to be ridiculous and silly. Certainly Lennon’s music with the Beatles is groundbreaking and lasting. I quite enjoy it. But important? Nah.

  11. Hmm. So my wife didn’t go to San Antonio like she told me she was. Good luck, chump.
  12. I had to get work boots again. Job-sites and deer camp are hard on boots. Went back to the Twisted X brand. They’re not terribly expensive, have unique styles and are incredibly comfortable on this old man’s feet. There are known Twisted X haters on this board. No me importa.

  15. I used to have access to a place out that way. It was up just enough in elevation that one could see the train coming from a really long distance. In that high desert setting with no tree cover the train looked like a snake essing its way through the desert. You didn’t see just part of the train as one could see the entire length at once. Some of the trains were astoundingly long. For some reason those images burned into my mind. Anyway, carry on.
  16. @LW Goatman Play by the rules. Pay your deductible. Show the contractor you like your scope of loss as that is what you will have to ultimately pay the roof for. Getting 3 bids to find the least expensive is a waste of time and unnecessary. You can shop for the most upgrades within the scope of loss value. Nothin wrong with that. (Note: if you have no mortgage on your house then you’re in a different status and the rules are a bit different). Local roofing contractor is best. Nothing wrong with door knockers. Local companies do it, too. Have prospective RCs provide a copy of their workmanship warranty PRIOR to inking contract. Look for limitation of damages equal to roofing contract price language. That is a no go. PRIOR to commencement of work, your RC needs to provide an insurance certificate to you. It should list his general liability coverage, commercial auto coverage and workers comp coverage. For most residential RCs, the second 2 will be more difficult to attain. Call the listed GL carrier (you can get contact info from producing agent listed on the certificate) and ask if coverage is in force, is the insured classified for roofing operations and is products and completed operations included in coverage. Proper classification and P/CO inclusion is the most important part of coverage and the priciest. You’d be shocked at the amount of storm chaser RCs (SUPERTEX CONSTRUCTION and Roofing) that have improperly classified operations (running roofing operations through carpentry or painting or siding classification) to save money and then coverage is not applied when a claim is made. Good luck

  19. El Banquete on Rankin Hwy. Fajita enchiladas with fried eggs on top. Their salsa is for real.
