  1. Wish they could bottle it up and send it to Texas.
  2. I'm just looking at the rear cargo-area-to-door-size ratio, and it looks much smaller than I recall for the Sequoia, more like a 4Runner to my eye. But it's only a small picture, too. Anyway I like the color and the design, looks pretty cool.
  3. A little rain is good for a race like that. A rain-out is... unacceptable.
  4. Was it this guy? Looks pretty good. Although, has the Sequoia shrunk over the years? That looks more like a 4Runner to me.
  5. A friend of mine put these on his Bronco, it looks so choice:
  6. Hmm, as a native Austinite, I strongly support this idea.
  7. Vegas is going to be just an epic, spectacular shitshow. I hope they do a 5-part Drive To Survive surrounding that weekend.
  8. Yeah same here. Too many local/regional options these days, and not enough shelf space. Oh, other than the 47 rows of shitty bud light hard ciders and shit.
  9. The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line.
  10. A "student body that actually shows up?" Lulz. I've been to ag games that are not against Texas or Alabama or LSU-- nobody shows up. And I also love the comment about "when you beat them in anything" as if any ag would possibly know.
  11. Yup, all those empty seats create some nice hard surfaces to bounce the sound back into the stadium.
  12. Yeah I was there in late June and it was the same, low-mid 90s, felt great. The various hotel and restaurant staff would apologize for the heat and I'd just smile and nod. I will say that an hour-long show in the non-air-conditioned Preservation Hall was pretty warm, but the music itself, and the joy it brought my kids seeing their first live jazz show ever, made it more than worth it.
  13. Gotta put those on separate racks in the oven so the real enchiladas don't bully the vegan ones too much.
  14. Well yeah. He's from Dallas originally but he moved to Austin and graduated from Anderson High, a couple of years after me. That's no point of pride, of course. Shame, shame, shame.
  15. RIP, one of my all time favorites
  16. Every day was racial tension at Martin. But not with the African-Americans, they were even more of a minority than us gringo kids. Busing was a costly experiment that was a complete failure. However, we did get to eat regularly at Carmen's La Tapatia which was the best Tex-Mex joint Austin has ever had. So we had that going for us. Which is nice.
  17. Don't forget the Illinois nazis. I hate Illinois nazis.
  18. I got my butt kicked there almost every day for about 2 years during busing, so this hits about 9.5 miles away from home...
  19. Danny might be in the Red Bull by Sunday...

    Pizza

That Friday's was Anderson High date night central when I was a kid. Movie at the Arbor 4, then Amy's ice cream and "riding on the cows." If you were a bit more poor, then you ate at Chili's at Burnet/183, and skipped the movie, went straight for Amy's ice cream.
  21. Enchilada tacos the night of. Enchilada breakfast tacos the next morning with some fresh scrambled eggs over enchilada chunks in a griddled tortilla. All quite tasty and acceptable.

Yes they're a "sell 'til it's sold out" joint. Officially, they close at 4. Stiles Switch in Cedar Park is actually good, and IMO more consistent than the original location down on N. Lamar. They're open until 8 or 8:30 depending on the day. Closed Mondays.
  23. Yeah they'll just block the view, and most likely police the traffic a heck of a lot tighter than the "staff" at COTA does...
