How the hell does OU recruit well almost every year?

I've asked this (more respectfully than you) of a former OU player and he said the attraction to OU is actually about how boring it is. You're there (according to him) for one thing and one thing only: Football. They win all the time and they win consistently.  They put guys into the league. They're not far from home. They take it very seriously. They're very organized and professional about it, and they get results. Also, not everyone agrees that Austin is a beautiful Mecca.

I countered with, "Ok, yeah... but OU sucks."

That didn't seem to change his position on the issue.

  2. - Our coaches didn't know about this highly publicized thing that happened in Austin and the players found out before they did.
    - Our coaches knew and didn't care until the players put public pressure on them.

Not sure I like either option.

I'm HOPING that the players' unified public condemnation wasn't because they weren't being listened to privately.

The old bubble site once the new indoor practice facility is done?

Move UTPD over there. Build a new Latin/Diversity building around the Thompson Conference Center. Use all that space and that southernmost lot to build a women's sports complex.

The state of fundraising efforts for T1F is improving, especially after a very important period in January where some big gifts were given. The fund is still too reliant on the generosity of a few, but more high net worth people do seem to adapting to the new normal.

Is there an expectation that the big-money/little-money ratio would be significantly different for NIL than it has been in the past for football-focused donations? Or is it just that the little money is lagging behind in the ratio right now with regard to NIL? (I suppose the tiers between big and little money are important in this conversation, too.)

Is there any NIL initiative anywhere that isn't primarily leaning on the big gifts of a wealthy few?

Posted this elsewhere but saying it here:

Some of us just sorted a whole bunch of NIL stuff for the 2024 cycle for Texas football on behalf of everyone else. Texas roster management is elite in CFB at this point. Everyone should sleep easy about transfers and people leaving.  Other schools, almost all of them, cannot say what I just said.

Praise be to Sarkisian, Billy Glasscock, Brandon Harris, Texas BMDs, Kenny Baker, CDC, the TOF and some random, ragtag rapscallions who had the audacity to say “fuck it, this is happening and we are doing this motherfucking thing and damn the consequences”, and Bobby Burton.
