  1. also, while i was disappointed when it was announced because it feels like canelo is ducking david benavidez, i'm starting to get excited for the canelo/munguia fight coming up in a couple of weeks.  feels like it could be a war between two hard hitting motherfuckers.

Harvey Dock was so bad reffing that fight I honestly think he might have had money on Devin.  Charges Garcia a point for hitting on the break and yet seems completely unbothered by Haney hugging Garcia for dear life half the fight.  In fact, after one knockdown Dock literally picked Devin up off the canvas!  After them robbing that Irish fella earlier in the evening, there was some definite fuckery going on.

no doubt, he was terrible - specifically in the 7th (i think ) round which you referenced.

  3. if the celtics lose more than 1 game in the first two rounds i will be very surprised.  if they don't make the finals this year it's going to be a massive, massive failure on their part.

11am kick seems like a great thing for a visiting team.

yeah i never understand why people get upset about 11:00am kicks in potentially hostile environments.  upthread someone was bitching about the game at the shoe in 25 being 11:00.  from what i read about the '05 trip on hornfans/shaggy/here, why would anyone want to be in that environment for a night game again?

I don't know that I've ever seen an NBA draft as messy and unpredictable as this one. I suppose there will be a little more clarity once the lottery goes down, but probably not much.

Iin the meantime here is a consensus draft that takes input from the Athletic, ESPN, The Ringer, Tankathon, Yahoo, and a bunch more of them.

I do think it's most likely that Sarr ends up number 1. I think that scouts will look at all the other guys and say fuck it, let's default to drafting the biggest most athletic dude with the highest upside. But who knows? Each guy has some serious flaws, including Sarr.

    • Risacher was thought to be maybe the safest prospect who at worst case would be a serviceable three and D guy, but his shooting has gone into the toilet over the past several weeks. And people are wondering which part of his season is the aberration.
    • Topic got hurt just when his team stepped up in class and has been slow to recover from something that was perceived to be minor. Another guy with suspect outside shooting. You also wonder if he can guard anybody.
    • Dillingham is undersized and a poor defender.
    • Clingan is not really built for the modern game.
    • Sheppard is undersized and white athletically limited.
    • Buzelis can't shoot.
    • Castle can't shoot, either.
    • Cody Williams was injured, often invisible, and has a sketchy 3 point shooting projection.
    • Ron Holland is yet another guy who can't shoot.

One guy who I kinda have my eye on is Jared McCain from Duke. He's one of the better shooters in the draft, a surprisingly decent rebounder for his size, and probably a better athlete and defender than given credit for. I think he's going to shoot up the board as we get closer to the draft.

I'm interested to see where the older guys like Dalton Knecht, Devin Carter and Terrance Shannon go. In this draft in particular, teams may opt for more established prospects earlier in than we've seen in the past.

i like McCain too.  i'm hoping for one of McCaiin, Williams, or Castle for the Rockets if they end up picking #9.

I had 6 of my position players go 0/4 without walking. Most anemic team ever.

my offense is straight dog shit as well.  maybe we can battle all season for shittiest offense ever crown.

  7. We can, it will just be one more external scoring piece that will need to be added but its no big deal on my end to do so.

3 extra points for predicting the correct number of games the series lasts (must also have the winner).  after round 1, you have to have the correct matchup in order to be eligble for the bonus (example if okc beats dallas in 6 in round two but you had picked okc over the clippers in 6, you get the points for okc winning but not the bonus for correctly picking the correct # of games).

I'm assuming the brackets have to be completed on espn.com by tip off on saturday, but the contest will start here tomorrow by posting your picks for winners of tomorrow night's play-in games.

  8. $25 entry fee, winner take all.

gonna use espn.com to keep track of picks this year.  we'll use their scoring with one slight modifcation

    1) play in games.  post your picks for every play in game on this thread.  every correct pick = 3 point bonus.  there will be a total of 6 play in games so that's a possible 18 extra points on whatever your final score on espn.com is.

Just saw the finish, holy shit...

What do people think the scorecards would have been if it had gone one more second?

Easily unanimous decision, probably all 49-46, maybe one or two 48-47's if you follow my flawed theory.

Holloway was easily winning.  I suppose someone could have been generous and given Gaethje a round if they wanted, but Max dominated the whole fight....and then punctuated it with 1 second to go.
