Given that they only had one returning QB in their room, and he's got an injury history, this all makes a lot of sense for them.

Which of their coaches has these strong Texas ties?

    Has Bentley said he’s leaving?

someone please post the leaked jqj throw from fall practice it seems to be deleted/scrubbed

he made a throw 50 yrds downfield from hashmark to hashmark

card can not do what jqj can

Maybe, but why isn't JQJ sticking around to win a wide open QB competition? Why is JQJ going to Utah of all places? That too to compete with Charlie Brewer?

What do you mean “scrubbed”? If you mean taken off the texas football accounts, are you really surprised they wouldn’t have content featuring guys that are on other teams?

This is it. There’s no real reason to stick around here. Our program and leadership is weak so why not go to SMU to get playing time and also win more games. There’s just not a lot to be excited about at Texas. Lose 4-5 games a year and not get developed as a player.

More of this, please. Time to stop pretending that we will ever be anything with Turtle running things.

FYI, I am hearing from my spies on campus that the players hate Turtle.

Brewer and Rising compete to start this year (and they're both pretty injury-prone). JQJ brought in in case the freshmen don't pan out, or maybe he turns out to be back to his high school best. Guess they just want as many lottery tickets as possible.

    TSRH.

Rising. Archuleta. Justice. Robinson. Costelli. Brewer. JQJ.

They are looking for one guy to hit. Most of them have 3+ years of eligibility.

The thing that strikes me as odd is that Costelli is a freak athlete with some serious upside. I think adding two guys to that already crowded room is a pretty good recipe to get him to transfer to SDSU, SJSU ... He's a 10.8 100 guy at a legit 6'3" 205. I wouldn't have risked losing him by adding Brewer, for certain. JQJ and Costelli are both really good fits for the offense but just like the Texas situation, I don't expect everyone to stay and be all sunshine and rainbows.

I'll take Costelli as a transfer next year.

Someone is getting paid. Or multiple people are. Unless multiple guys transfer in the other direction. There's no fucking way they are just randomly landing that many QB transfers - Texas kids at that.

Maybe it shakes out and makes more sense within the next few months. Right now it stinks to high heaven.

Imagine reading this post 12 months ago and being asked to identify the team

Card is going to be a little bit better version of Jarrett Stidham.  Stidham is in the NFL.  I ain't skeered.

Have fun (maybe) playing QB at a school that’s not any better than Texas and in a conference no one cares about.

Damn this is sad to read now.

He was being recruited as a LB. Then people filled his head with  QB stuff. And here we are.

Had high upside as a LB.

This is not accurate. He was a top 5 ranked QB in the nation coming out of high school.

The only reason people on this board talked about LB is because we also had Card committed and he was a top 5 ranked QB at the time too.

He wasn't considered a top QB prospect until he blew up in the playoffs his Jr season, prior to that he was considered an athlete that most likely projected to defense.

When was Ja'Quinden a highly touted LB like Simmons?  I went to several Duncanville games back then, including the one vs DeSoto where he took over at QB when the starter was injured.  That was as a Soph.  He played QB the rest of that season and the next two until he was injured.  He was always a QB and never played LB to my knowledge.  Any discussion of him playing LB was $9.95 / talking heads projecting.

Much / most of his success was attributable to his feet rather than his arm, so it was evident that he need to be coached up to be a good QB.  Yurchich had no interest (or ability) to do so, and it did not happen at Utah either.  Moving him to RB seems like a natural move to me.  LB seems like a WTF idea to me.

Nope, he was district MVP as a QB his sophomore year in the tough “district of doom”. And in his first ever composite rating he was a 4-star and that was during his sophomore year.

I’m sure someone had him ranked as an ATH, if you’re athletic and black people are going to put you there no matter what. But the LB stuff was mostly this board and it was mostly out of convenience because he was big and fast, we needed LBs, and we had another QB committed who was rated even higher than him.

Yep. He was always an offensive player, the LB stuff was wishcasting on our (and some 9.95ers i guess) part. Maybe LB would’ve turned out better for him, I don’t know, but he never played it and he was not being recruited as a LB by anyone.

Jackson is already ranked as the No. 50 overall player in the nation and No. 2 athlete according to initial 247Sports rankings. He is ranked as the No. 5 overall player in Texas for the 2020 class. He is not yet ranked in the composite rankings. Some schools are recruiting Jackson as a quarterback, receiver or defensive back.

One of the country’s most versatile prospects, Jackson has the potential to play multiple positions at the next level. Texas actually offered Jackson as a quarterback, but his preference is to play another position. He really doesn’t care on which side of the ball he ends up on and might be an outside linebacker when it’s all said and done.

Jackson was never a highly touted LB. He was a highly touted ATH going into his JR year, most projected him to either WR or DB, some services thought he might grow into a LB. He had stated that he didn't want to play QB in college. Then he blew up in the playoffs and decided he wanted to play QB at the next level after all.

I wrote that he wasn't considered a top QB prospect until after he blew up in the playoffs his JR season and you responded with "nope". There is nothing in my post about him projecting to LB.
