To be fair, when you reach that level and see the volume that he's seen over his career, you're going to fuck up eventually and you're going to get sued. It's medicine, it's far from perfect. Doesn't mean he isn't extremely qualified.

Even if you don’t fuck up, you’re probably going to get sued. It’s the nature of the business.

If you are a physician in a field with medium to high-risk and you stay in practice into your 50s and 60s, it’s pretty much a statistical certainty you are going to be sued for malpractice at some point, no matter how good you are.

So if about 85% of all surgeons are sued at some point, you continuing to bang the drum that this guy is a shitty doctor despite the fact a fuck ton of NFL players go there to get their surgeries seems particularly fucking Eeyore, even for your ass. Seriously, if this is how you view your fucking hobby, I can't imagine your general demeanor and attitude over things that are actually important in your life. Do you just fucking cry underneath your cubicle on a daily basis when the breakroom runs out of tea?

You get extra social justice points for using the culturally-appropriate caffeinated beverage

I'm not going off of any knowledge of this doctor specifically, but Herman has said he was a leader in his field for these types of surgeries. I'm going to assume he wasn't just fucking lying to everyone at a press conference. I'm also going to assume that being sued for malpractice isn't all that rare. In fact, a quick google says more than half of all doctors in 2017 were sued, and 85% of surgeons and specialists.

https://medicalliabilitymonitor.com/news/medscape-malpractice-report-2017-finds-the-majority-of-physicians-sued/

There's a reason doctor's malpractice insurance is fucking astronomical, because they get sued all the time but a bunch of piece of shit quick buck assholes, and it's only getting woruse as our society grows more litigious.

So if about 85% of all surgeons are sued at some point, you continuing to bang the drum that this guy is a shitty doctor despite the fact a fuck ton of NFL players go there to get their surgeries seems particularly fucking Eeyore, even for your ass. Syd - your progression from cranky to outright bitchy over the past 6 months has been nothing short of wonderful. Your post basically says to cut the doc a break. An anti-negativity post. Yet, you have the unique skill of framing that sentiment as an outright takedown.

"I'm not going off of any knowledge of this doctor specifically" - no insider info, got it

"a quick google says more than half of all doctors in 2017 were sued, and 85% of surgeons and specialists." - not uncommon, valid argument and a good point

"Do you just fucking cry underneath your cubicle on a daily basis when the breakroom runs out of tea?" - Oh.....shit........

I'm here for it. Pound away at that keyboard, Syd. You're doing the Lord's work.

Hence the term “practicing medicine”. Well said.

First off, feel free to go fuck yourself. I'm not bitchy, I'm pointedly critical.

Second, lets be honest, it seems like it's a takedown because it's a fucking takedown. That guy made a point weeks back of implying that we send our athletes to shitty doctors, when clearly he was clueless about what medical malpractice suits mean. I didn't read that thread, but I'm assuming he got shouted down, what with the fact that the guy performs those surgeries for NFL players on the regular. Then, he comes back weeks later in an effort to push the same fucking agenda because...why?

There's a point where you're negative, and then there's a point past that where you're attempting to push some kind of bizarre agenda. That what? We don't take care of our players? We send them to horrific sawbones when injured? Satya is flat out transforming into the Carl Winslow of UT Treats Players Like Shit before our very eyes, and he should be mocked for that behavior. He's one step away form showing up and saying "The Medical Treatment players get EVERYWHERE else in the Big 12 is thot, but UT only uses fat ugly doctors. I've seen the players complain about their surgeons on Twitter."

It's not only absurd, it's wrong. At this point I honestly don't think Satya even feels pleasure when he ejaculates.

I met up with SydneyCarton at a company Christmas party earlier this week and it’s funny, he ended up telling me to feel free to go fuck myself a few times as well. It’s a real gift he has of ingratiating those who otherwise feel attached to a likeminded cause.

Was it after you beat him in a 40 in the parking lot?

Smart guy... Will start Junior level courses at Texas when he arrives!!

Pearland High School football star shines on the field and in the books

Anton Simieou is captain of the football team and a leader in the classroom. He's hoping to go further than his father by getting three degrees by the age of 24 and getting his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. It's no wonder Simu is making the grade!

Anyone have this?

Quote

Texas fans want to know what’s going on with Tom Herman’s search for an offensive and defensive coordinator and a couple receivers coaches. The bottom line is Herman may not announce anything until after signing day (Dec. 18-20). According to a source close to the situation, Herman — rightly or wrongly — feels good enough about bringing the 2020 recruiting class in for a landing with his current, piecemeal staff that he “doesn’t want to upset the apple cart” with new hires right now.

The same source said Herman has talked to “four or five” candidates for each of the offensive and defensive coordinator positions and “isn’t in any hurry.” While the company line behind the scenes at Moncrief is no offers have gone out, we’ve heard from sources close to USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell and former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash that those two sure seem to think offers were extended to them.

And it sounds like Ash is a lot more likely to accept the job as the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator than Harrell is to accept the job as Texas’ offensive coordinator. Sources told Horns247 that Harrell had talked to at least two position coaches about the possibility of joining him at Texas if he were to take the job. But that was before USC announced it was retaining Clay Helton as the Trojans’ football coach — right before a meeting with Herman in Houston last Wednesday.

That’s when things got complicated. I heard Harrell seemed to have concerns about how much autonomy he’d have running the Texas offense. Despite all the chaos going on at USC, Harrell’s working relationship with Helton is not part of that. Helton gave Harrell autonomy. I’m told Harrell and Helton’s incredibly positive working relationship is the biggest reason Harrell is likely to stay at USC.

It doesn't hurt that Harrell also has lights-out freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis and a core of talented receivers (including Bru McCoy becoming eligible in 2020) returning to an offense that went from 26 points per game to 33 points per game in an 8-4 season that included a win over No. 11 Utah. Bottom line is the latest I’m hearing is Harrell is likely to accept the new contract being offered by USC. Don't kill the messenger. Just passing along "insider information."

One source said Harrell told Herman late last week that he’s going to stay at USC. But I couldn’t confirm that, so we didn’t report it. But in the last two days, I’ve heard more information from those connected to Harrell that would lead me to believe Herman is going to have to focus his offensive coordinator search elsewhere. Obviously, things can change in a heartbeat in situations like this because of, well, counter offers (or even a last-minute, private plane flight with the school president to Tulsa — just kidding!!).

So if not Harrell, then who? Obviously, until a new deal for Broyles Award winner Joe Brady is announced at LSU, there’s a long shot hope Herman could somehow lure LSU’s receivers coach and passing game coordinator away. The key word in that sentence was long shot.

I’m told there was some gauging of interest with SMU offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. But I heard Wednesday that Lashlee wouldn’t be considered a prime candidate at this point. I think there’s been some conversation between those helping Herman with his search — strength coach Yancy McKnight and Herman mentor Greg Davis — and Major Applewhite, Herman’s offensive coordinator at Houston (who is now an analyst at Alabama). But I’m not sure if it was just conversation among friends, advice seeking or possibly something more.

Applewhite has obviously had success working with Herman in the past and picked up a year of experience working with the Briles’ power spread running attack after having Kendal Briles as Applewhite’s offensive coordinator at Houston in 2018. University of Houston regent/football owner Tillman Fertita wanted a splash hire after Herman but was overruled by the school president and athletic director, who pushed for Applewhite.

Fertita ultimately got his way with the firing of Applewhite after two seasons and bringing in Dana Holgorsen. (Then, Holgorsen’s best players, including QB D’Ariq King sat out the season redshirting while the Cougars went 4-8. Karma's a B.) As far as the defensive coordinator search, I’d make a call to Minnesota Vikings secondary coach and Longhorn legend Jerry Gray before making any final decisions.

That leads us back to Herman not being in a hurry. With Herman focusing on trying to keep his 2020 recruiting class together until signing day, Herman, McKnight and Davis can come up with new names and even do some interviewing after signing day. If taking time is needed to get it right, like after the NFL season, so be it. We’ll be here. — CHIP BROWN

MORE ON HARRELL ...

To echo on what Chip said above, I have heard from a couple of sources that those close to USC are feeling a little more confident in the Trojans’ chances of potentially retaining Graham Harrell (the key word is a ‘little’ more confident). According to sources close to the situation, Harrell has been offered a new deal from USC, and while, as of earlier in the week, he had not signed the new deal, it sounds like folks on the USC side of the situation feel he could be leaning in that direction. These situations can literally change in less than 24 hours — and with the contract not being signed as of earlier this week, you cannot count out the Longhorns’ chances — so take that for what you will at this point. — TAYLOR ESTES

ALAMO BOWL PRACTICE SCHEDULE

After being selected to play No. 11 ranked Utah in the Valero Alamo Bowl, the Longhorns are set to return back to the Forty Acres later this week, with the first practice of the bowl season set for Friday. Texas is scheduled to continue bowl game practices the week following Day 1 and will take off four days for Christmas before returning for one last practice December 26 and making the short trip down to San Antonio December 27. — TAYLOR ESTES

***
SENIORS SET TO PLAY IN ALAMO BOWL

Despite all the upheaval on the Texas coaching staff, the Longhorns’ seniors with NFL aspirations are expected to play in the Alamo Bowl, including receiver Collin Johnson. From what I’ve heard, seniors Devin Duvernay, Brandon Jones, Zach Shackelford, Malcolm Roach and Johnson have indicated they plan to play in the Alamo Bowl. That’s great news for the Alamo Bowl, which needs all the star power it can get from the Longhorns after Herman decided to replace both of his coordinators the Sunday after Thanksgiving. — CHIP BROWN

***

THE LATEST ON TIM BECK

Former Texas offensive coordinator Tim Beck, who remains the Longhorns’ quarterback coach through the Alamo Bowl, was a finalist for the Lamar head-coaching job and was interested, I was told. But FootballScoop reported Wednesday San Diego State quarterbacks coach Blane Morgan would be the new head coach at Lamar. — CHIP BROWN
