Texas Recruiting Notes 2020

Our commitments included one of the better QB combos/classes in the country.

Within minutes, we hear that Georgia is trying to poach Card, and that he at least listened to them (unconfirmed), and then JQJ suffers this injury .... hope the kid's well.

(For those of you who were around and watched then - Vince suffered a horrendous twisted ankle once.  I think it was against Mizzou, close to the goal line.  Seemed like something catastrophic, for sure ... he was back on the field within a play or two.  I remember the commentators marveling at his ligaments, etc..)

It was against K-State in 2003. They buried his entire ankle in tape and sent him back out onto the field.

You're right.

"They said it was a bad sprain. I thought he was through,"
Brown said.

Young said he feared the worst when his ankle rolled. Television
replays showed a gruesome looking twist and he clutched at it
immediately.

"It felt like it was gone," Young said. "Once I got to the
sideline, I was able to walk it off."

Some more quotes and memories in the spoilered section below ... for 'ol time's sake.

Spoiler

What the Longhorns needed was someone to make big plays late to
steal momentum and win the game. They got it all from Young.

The backup to starter Chance Mock in Texas' quarterback
rotation, Young led Texas to a second-quarter field goal on his
first drive but limped off the field in pain after rolling his
ankle on a sack in the third.

He returned in the fourth to lead Texas to the winning score
after Mock had little success getting the nation's highest scoring
offense moving.

Young's fourth-down dive over the top of the line capped an
88-yard drive that started after Texas recovered Kansas State
quarterback Ell Roberson's fumble.

The big play in the drive came when Young uncorked a 52-yard
pass to Tony Jeffery, who scored the game's first touchdown on a
blocked punt in the first quarter. Jeffery went over cornerback
Cedrick Williams to make the grab, and Young scored five plays
later.

"We always knew Vince could run the football, but he went out
there and made plays today," said Texas receiver Roy Williams.

The Longhorns gambled by not going for a tying field goal on
fourth down and Young's stretch with his 6-foot-5 frame made it pay
off.

"If you can't make 6 inches,"Brown said. "You can't win the
game."

@Magus Ossis Might be able to give you answers

It seems like he disappeared right around the time Machinator disappeared. There’s a chance they just hopped back into their delorean and went back to whatever future century they were from, happy to be heading back to whatever shit hole they’d run from, because there is no way Texas football is as shitty then.

Jesus last year brown. This year jqj.  Next year??  Hopefully just a sprain and nothing torn

also isn’t Card basically Sam in terms of Texas love?  There should be no smoke on the UGA shit

First of all, the illness Of Brown and JQJ’s potential injury aren’t remotely close in magnitude

Second, while Card is very much a natural texas recruit, I don’t believe he’s quite at the level Sam was

That made me laugh.

This one you can count on. I was talking to his Dad and Coach Beck on the sideline of the LT/NS game. Nothing but love and respect from the Card family towards Texas.

Beck seemed to spend most of the game talking to three women.

I was just pointing out the underlying turd Herman is trying to shine. His comment at the bowl game presser was something to the effect of “position coaches want to be coordinators and coordinators want to be head coaches.” That’s true, but it has fuck-all to do with our situation. Obviously he’s trying to spin the situation in the best way possible, but equating something good (your coaches could perform really well and get promotions elsewhere) to something bad (the previous guys I hired were so bad they got fired) is shining a turd.

You're the guy that always gets his ass whipped at the party after everybody is drunk.  You are fucking depressing.  How did you get such a positive rep?
