Texas Recruiting Notes 2020

Regardless if we get Rakestraw tomorrow, from the updates on offers and visitors... the staff seems dialed in on getting the best CB prospects for 21 and 22.  They will be selling the fact that Green, Cook and Jamison could be gone, and will have an immediate chance to play straight out of high school.  I know I'm drinking the kool aide thinking that any of those players leave to the draft early but I'm really high for 2020 on field results

Well, that's a relief.

Any idea on what kind of prospects we're targeting at other positions?  The best?  Second best?  Third-rate?  Just knock offs?

i meant the higher rated guys this early out.. especially that 22 class.. I was surprised that they got Ibraheem on campus.  So we'll see

We’re already looking quite iffy for Ibraheem and Deuce Harmon is aggy, so I’m not sure how you get that we’re “dialed in” on top 2021 CB prospects and lol at the idea of saying where we are with 22 prospects this early.

Said since we got through NSD 1 that I would not be upset with a Grad Transfer at CB.

A grad transfer CB wouldn't make sense. A normal transfer from the 2019 or 2020 classes who'd be ready to play in 2021 would make sense

Here is an exciting look back on the 2020 Big Board per 247 from 2018

Big Board: Class of 2020 in Texas

By BRIAN PERRONIWed Jan 10 2018

Colleges recruit earlier and earlier every year and there are already quite a few sophomores from the class of 2020 in Texas that are already on the radar.

This is by no means an exhaustive list but is more of a big board at the moment of prospects from the class across the state. We have watched a lot of film and talked to a lot of people about these players.

There will be plenty of four- and maybe even five-stars when all is said and done that weren’t on this list but all these players have a chance to be heavily-recruited.

The list is grouped by position and the players are roughly in the order we would likely currently rank them today.

QB

Hudson Card – Lake Travis (6-2/170): A standout WR this year, Card took over at QB in the state title game and showed how dangerous he can be.

Ken Seals – Weatherford (6-1/185): Seals had to play JV this after transferring from Azle but his ceiling is very high.

Brendon Lewis – Melissa (6-2/180): An all-state selection as a sophomore, Lewis is also a dangerous runner.

Brayden Thomas – Saginaw Boswell (6-1/170): Thomas is one of the more polished passers in the class and is very comfortable in the pocket.

Jacarrion Green – Marshall (6-2/165): Green is a dangerous runner that improved throughout the season as a passer.

Brendon Strickland – Princeton (6-2/200)

Haynes King - Longview (6-2/170)

Jared Kelley - Refugio (6-2/215)

Malik Hornsby - Houston Austin (6-2/180)

Mike Chandler - San Antonio Johnson (6-0/170)

Blaine Warmbrod – Frisco Lone Star (6-2/190)

Kirkland Michaux – Austin Westlake (6-4/200)

Deuce Hogan – Grapevine Faith (6-3/185)

Hunter Dunn – Tomball (6-3.5/165)

Chandler Galban – Burnet (6-1/175)

Landry Kinne – Denton (6-0/170)

RB

Jase McClellan – Aledo (5-10/195, Oklahoma): In a 1A and 1B with Evans, McClellan can catch the ball out of the backfield but is also an extremely punishing runner.

Zachary Evans – North Shore (6-0/185): Evans is a between-the-tackles back that happens to have surprising breakaway speed.

EJ Smith – Dallas Jesuit (5-10/180): The son of NFL legend Emmitt, EJ is incredibly as a downhill runner but also as a receiver out of the backfield.

De'Quavion Thomas – Cibolo Steele (5-9/187): In a loaded Steele backfield, the powerful Thomas had some big games where he gained multiple yards after the first contact.

Ja'kobi Holland – Tomball (5-11/180): The Tomball schools are starting to produce prospects and Holland could be the biggest of the bunch. He ran for 1,600+ yards and averaged almost nine yards per carry.

Seth McGowan – Mesquite Poteet (5-11/195)

Jasean Barrow – Canyon Randall (6-1/200)

Willie Eldridge – Cy Ranch (5-11/170)

Ja'Bray Young – Melissa (5-10/185)

Cody Crist – Plano (6-0/185)

Tahj Brooks – Manor (5-10/207)

Devon Achane – Fort Bend Marshall (5-9/170)

Stacy Sneed – Mansfield Timberview (5-9/160)

Kaedric Cobbs – Denton Guyer (5-9/200)

Emani Bailey – Denton Ryan (5-9/185)

Clarence Dalton – Galveston Ball (5-10/200)

Bryeton Gilford - The Woodlands (5-9/190)

Jaylon Lott – Hebron (6-0/175)

Campbell Speights – McAllen Memorial (5-7/175)

Myles Nash – Sachse (5-6/170)

WR

Demond Demas – Houston North Forest (6-2/185): A big, strong wideout, Demas looked like a grown man as a freshman and has only gotten better since then.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba - Rockwall (6-0/185): Though he saw some varsity action as a freshman, Smith-Njigba had a breakout sophomore campaign with 74 catches and is dangerous after the catch.

DJ Graham – Keller Central (6-0/175): A two-year starter already, Graham isn’t in a pass-heavy offense but averages over 20 yards when he does get the ball.

Jacobi Bellazin – Katy (5-10/170): Bellazin moved in from Louisiana and did not play for Katy this season but his quickness in the slot has earned him offers from all over the country.

Quin Bright – Cedar Hill (5-9/165): Bright did just about everything for Cedar Hill this year and the coaches there rave about the player he is expected to be over the next two years.

Marvin Mims – Frisco Lone Star (6-1/165)

Zeriah Beason – Bishop Dunne (6-0/170)

Devin Price – A&M Consolidated (6-3/175)

Troy Omeire - Fort Bend Austin (6-3/190)

Collin Sullivan – Round Rock (6-1/175)

Money Parks – Aledo (5-11/175)

Lawrence Arnold – DeSoto (6-3/175)

Ja'Lynn Polk - Lufkin (6-2/170)

Brian Darby – A&M Consolidated (5-11/185)

Parker Washington – Fort Bend Travis (5-9/180)

Jalen Paxton – Manvel (6-1/165)

Jay Wilkerson – Midlothian Heritage (6-0/160)

Daniel Jackson – Cibolo Steele (6-0/160)

Zion Childress – New Caney (6-0/160)

Brandon Chatman - Saginaw Boswell (5-11/175)

Brendon Holmes – Clear Lake (5-8/160)

TE

Terius Mathis – Willis (6-7/215): Because of his size, Mathis was already getting looks from national programs as a freshman a year ago.

Nick Patterson – San Antonio Christian (6-3/200): The younger brother of former five-star Shea, Nick is bigger than his brother.

Elijah Yelverton - Dallas Bishop Dunne (6-5/225): Yelverton played his sophomore year at Royse City but is at Bishop Dunne now. He's a big receiver that can easily make the transition to tight end.

Jarius Jones – Ennis (6-2/235): Jones is more of an h-back than a traditional tight end. He does a good job of getting behind the defense but isn’t afraid to put his hand in the dirt and block either.

Reggie Brown - Houston Lamar (6-2/230): Brown could also be considered a fullback but he was a receiving threat for Lamar as a sophomore.

OL

Courtland Ford – Cedar Hill (6-6/305): Ford could be a right tackle or a guard and he just plays with an incredibly nasty streak.

Jordan Jefferson – Navasota (6-2/300, Texas A&M): The earliest A&M commit in recent memory, Jefferson is one of the strongest players in the state.

Chad Lindberg – Clear Creek (6-5/295): Lindberg is already a very good tactician at such a young age. He excels in pass blocking.

Anthony Faz – South Oak Cliff (6-5/308): Faz had a lot of coaches intrigued this past spring due to his size and he has continued to pick up offers.

Damieon George – North Shore (6-5/305): North Shore has been known to produce lineman and George is the next in line. He’s hard to miss out on the field.

Andrej Karic – Southlake Carroll (6-5/240)

Mat Joyce – Rockwall (6-5/320)

Ty'kieast Crawford – Carthage (6-5/285)

Trent Pullen – Waco Connally (6-4/270)

Andy Buttrell – Argyle Liberty Christian (6-6/270)

Jermarques Bailey - Aldine Nimitz (6-6/315)

Jake Majors - Prosper (6-4/270)

Donovan Ford – DeSoto (6-3/290)

Logan Parr - San Antonio O'Connor (6-3/265)

Kendal Septs - Fort Bend Austin (6-3/325)

Garrison Wheatley – Coppell (6-3/320)

Akinola Ogunbiyi - Fort Bend Kempner (6-4/310)

Jett Duncan – The Woodlands (6-2/280)

Austin Harris – Conroe Oak Ridge (6-5/295)

DE

James Sylvester – Newton (6-4/215): A bit raw, Sylvester can pin his ears back and get after the passer. He was on perhaps the state’s best defense this year.

Victor Idusuyi – Clear Creek (6-2/260): A high school linebacker at 260, Idusuyi could project to a number of spots at the next level.

Alec Bryant – Shadow Creek (6-3/220): Shadow Creek did not play an official varsity schedule this year but Bryant had some big games against good teams.

Alfred Collins – Bastrop Cedar Creek (6-5/245): Cedar Creek has never had an FBS prospect in the short history of the school but Collins should be the first.

Blake Burris – Irving MacArthur (6-5/235): MacArthur had plenty of struggles this year but Burris was a bright spot.

Prince Dorbah – Highland Park (6-4/210)

Princely Umanmielen - Manor (6-4/235)

Devante Keys – Cy Ranch (6-4/235)

Travis McFarling – Flower Mound (6-3/245)

Warren Robinson – Fort Bend Marshall (6-2/215)

DT

Chidozie Nwankwo – Richmond Foster (6-1/285): A two-year all-district performer, Nwankwo is one of the best tackles in the state, regardless of class.

Branrard Wright – Dallas Carter (6-4/270): Wright could also play on the offensive line but his upside is way too high on defense not to recruit him there.

Grant Mahon – Denton Guyer (6-3/250): Guyer has a strong class of 2020 and Mahon had probably the biggest year of all of them.

Braedon Nutter – Tomball Memorial (6-3/260): Nutter could also be a strongside end but is quick from the interior.

Keimoniee Green – Argyle Liberty Christian (6-3/260): Green is a good interior pass rusher and is very disruptive in the middle.

Bralynn Ramsey – Denison (6-1/300)

J'Mani Gibson – Fort Bend Travis (6-1/310)

Keeymon White – Aldine Davis (6-1/270)

Jordin Hunter, Denison (6-0/270)

LB

Brennon Scott – Bishop Dunne (6-2/210): Scott looks like a prototypical outside linebacker already and, with the dearth at the position in the state, should have all the offense he wants by this time next year.

Graham Faloona – Southake Carroll (6-2/190): Faloona needs to fill out his frame a bit but that’s the case with most sophomores. He does a great job of flying to the ball.

Kameron Mayfield – Tyler John Tyler (6-2/215): Mayfield closes really quickly but he could also play inside if needed.

Isi Moeakiola – Euless Trinity (6-1/220): Trinity always has one of the best defenses in the state and Moeakiola should be the next star.

James Douglas – Arlington Lamar (6-1/195): Douglas could best fit a defense that uses a hybrid ‘Star’ linebacker type.

Erick McFall - Big Sandy (6-2/240)

Isaac Broades – Denton (6-2/200)

Corey Flagg - North Shore (6-0/220)

Josh White - Cy Creek (6-1/200)

Jaylan Ford – Frisco Lone Star (6-1/200)

Richard Silva – Keller Central (5-9/200)

CB

RJ Mickens – Southlake Carroll (5-11/175): All-district as a freshman and all-state as a sophomore, Mickens is simply a ballhawk.

Dwight McGlothern – New Caney (6-1/170): If McGlothern were not so good a corner, he would be one of the top receivers in the state as well.

Lorando Johnson – Lancaster (6-1/175): Johnson is big and physical but has speed that most his size don’t.

DJ Warnell – Dickinson (6-0/175): Warnell is the best young defender that nobody is talking about yet. Expect schools to fall in love with him this spring.

Jonathan Davis – South Oak Cliff (6-2/170): Another in a long line of South Oak Cliff defensive backs, Davis has really good length in the secondary.

Korie Black – Waco Connally (6-0/165)

Tren Jones – Arp (5-10/160)

Jaylon Jones - Cibolo Steele (6-1/185)

Jalen Kimber – Mansfield Timberview (6-0/155)

Nate Floyd – A&M Consolidated (5-11/170)

Tyrese Hardeman - Elysian Fields (6-2/175)

Marcellus Lockley - Denton (6-0/170)

Frank Wilson IV – San Antonio Central Catholic (5-9/170)

Joseph Wilson – Houston Lamar (5-9/160)

S

Darius Snow – Hebron (6-1/190): A first-team all-state selection, Snow is a huge safety already that just makes play after play from the secondary.:

Bryson Washington – Houston C.E. King (6-2/195): Everything said about Snow can be said about Washington as well, including earning first-team all-state honors as just a sophomore.

Chris Thompson Jr. – Duncanville (6-2/180): Duncanville is going to be a scary team the next few years and Thompson is just one reason why.

Plae Wyatt – McKinney Boyd (5-11/185): Wyatt makes a ton of tackles and already has two years of varsity experience.

Jason Kerl Jr. – Aledo (6-0/185): With the exception of two games, Aledo’s defense was dominant and Kerl was a big part of that.

Ra'Kwuan Pinkston – South Oak Cliff (5-11/185)

Bryson Bonds – Crowley (6-1/185)

Jarrie Spikes - Cy Creek (6-0/190)

Xavion Alford - Alvin Shadow Creek (6-1/170)

Jerrin Thompson – Lufkin (6-0/170)

Tra Smith – Denton Ryan (5-9/160)

ATH

Ja'Quinden Jackson – Duncanville (6-1/190): Jackson will contend for honors as the top player in the state and lines up at quarterback, running back and receiver but could also play almost anywhere on defense.

Drew Sanders – Colleyville Heritage (6-4/205, Oklahoma): A former quarterback at Lake Dallas, Sanders likely plays linebacker at the next level.

Kevontre Bradford – Lancaster (6-0/160): Lancaster is known for speed and Bradford has that. He could play receiver or corner.

Michael Henderson – Carrollton Ranchview (6-2/205): A high school quarterback, Henderson wants the chance to play there but he could see some offers at linebacker as schools look for players there.

Kelvontay Dixon – Carthage (5-9/150): The younger brother of Keaontay Ingram, Dixon missed most of his sophomore campaign due to injury but some in East Texas expect him to be even better than Ingram.

Khalan Griffin – Chapel Hill (5-10/180)

Trinidad Sanders – Austin Bowie (6-1/175)

Jayden Jones – North Garland (6-1/175)

Mike Welch – Dickinson (5-10/170)

Jamal Ligon – Tyler Lee (6-2/245)

Pacey Jones – Hitchcock (6-0/170)]/quote]

Because his boobs aren't big enough for a push-up bra.

At the end:

Is he staying in place and growing too large for the frame?

Or is he doing some sort of thrusty hopping motion propelling him towards the camera?

Okay.  It's starting to make more sense now in some ways and less in others...

He is in a theater of sorts...judging by the attire of the bewildered gentlemen - an opera, ballet, orchestra, or some other high art performance?
