fuck every tollway

HOOK'EMHOOAH

Every tollway can eat a goddamn dick. Any road taxes pay for should never EVER have a toll on it.

Fuck these bastards for charging tolls to disabled veterans. We paid with our goddamn lives and limbs to be able to drive wherever we goddamn well please/need to. There is literally not a single road in this fucking country any disabled veteran should be charged to drive on.

Fucking assholes claiming their bullshit about "losing profits if disabled veterans dont get tolled" words can't express how much I want the bastards in charge dead. They do not deserve to breathe the same air as anyone else. They can breathe their fucking money for all I give a shit.

Tolls are such BS.  Let me guess - you never got a toll tag out of principle and avoid tolls at all costs.  But you got hit with pay by mail, including fees, collections etc. and now you're $1.85 toll is exponentially more?

$93 goddamn dollars when I paid their stupid fucking toll in goddam April.

I paid this fucking fine and when I prove it, I will make these dicks eat shit on two levels. First, that they fucked up. Second that they are fucking over thousands or millions of Texans in the process. Anyone that supports them doesn't support what Texas is about. So fuck them too.

Reminds me of the story my old man told me of driving back to Washington state after coming back to Texas in 1939 for his dads funeral. He missed the funeral by a week or so because train travel from Washington took a while but that's another story. Anyway, he was doing a buddy a favor and driving his car back to Washington and had to cross the newly opened Golden Gate Bridge. Not knowing it was a toll bridge he was in line with a lot of cars behind him and started an argument with the bridge people about active duty military having to pay the toll. It was a nice day and he'd had a few beers and wasn't about to give in so they just let him go without paying. Point being: Drink and drive.

I'd be alright with tolls if the people running the things weren't criminals, cons, worse than the worst used cars salesman.

It's been a long time since I paid a toll, but I remember never getting a confirmation email with code, then getting dinged again, then paying and calling, asking where the fuck is a confirmation code? Looking at my bank account and there was the money paid, but it didnt say txtag or toll, just some random name and if I didnt know the exact amount and when I paid, I would have missed it. Then you throw on the outrageous interest they charge... worse than Kelly Leak.

Fuck them and thanks for your service

Thank you for your service.  Maybe check to see if the VA has Zoloft or weed or something.

First off, I don't need your placation. The VA has prescribed bullshit already. Many kinds of bullshit. Unfortunately weed is not able to be prescribed in Texas. Another in a long line of bullshit about the assholes elected because people can't pull their heads out of their asses. But that still does t solve the root issue.we all chose to have the goddamn toll roads closed.

No one needs to thank me for my service. I'm a surly asshole like everyone else here. We raise our hand because we do it voluntarily. My service isn't the issue. We All decided that toll road should go away. So why in the fuck haven't they? We elected to use the "rainyday fund" as a means to build roads. Yet here we goddamn are.

I was driving on some damn toll road decades ago where every few miles you had to pay a quarter to go past the booth. There was an exit right there at each booth. One exit, we get off to the surface street to buy gas or whatever. Costs a dime to leave the road. We get done, drive up the entrance ramp on the other side of the toll booth, it's another dime to get back on. So, we saved a nickel by going around the toll booth.

For the next hundred miles, at every booth we kept driving off the road and back on again, two dimes instead of one quarter.

And that, my friends, is how you break The Man.

I’m confused about several things here and am trying to weigh whether or not to question OP now, or let him cool off. I’ve never had such restraint.

Just voice your opinion. You, nor anyone else, should never have pay to travel. We paid with our blood to make that so. There is no currency worth any human's blood. Freedom to go where you wish is as fundamental to humanity is is the freedom of speech or freedom or anything else.

Is that grudge match pool still going on on the recruiting board? I'm taking HOOK'EMHOOAH over CTJ and then to go on to win it all.

I post on the recruiting board, but I don't have the slightest idea where it's going. As an INTP, I need more information.

Proposition 1 ; hat we all, or most of us voted in favor of by about 79% to 21% In 2014. Not judging anyone who voted against, but fuck you anyway.

No one should pay any toll to drive on any road. Rant or no, we all pay taxes that fund the fucking roads. We pay those taxes so we dont have to. So I say again: FUCK THE GODDAMN TOLL ROADS.

free in Harris County for vets.

Qualifying Veterans.....recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, Air Force Cross (Legion of Valor), Distinguished Service Cross (Legion of Valor), Army Distinguished Service Cross (Legion of Valor), Navy Cross (Legion of Valor), Purple Heart and disabled veterans who qualify and meet the requirements for a disabled veteran license plate.

The rest of us still have to pay.

Not a fan of toll roads either, but since they are here and the state is making money off of them, they aren't going away.

Found this that applies to the Austin area - https://www.texvet.org/resources/some-toll-roads-texas-free-some-veterans-use

There was also some legislative action recently: https://connectingvets.radio.com/articles/bill-aims-limit-number-vehicles-veterans-can-drive-toll-free-texas

As of now, any vehicle with a disabled veteran, Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, or Legion of Honor license plate doesn't pay tolls on Texas Department of Transportation Roads. But it seems that veterans may be taking a little extra advantage of this benefit.

There are 719 veterans with five or more of these license plates. Two veterans have registered for 11, according to testimony during a Texas House Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee hearing.

Overall, the cost of the program has increased from roughly $1 million when it was first established to $7.9 million in 2017. At its current rate, the cost of the program will be $11 million by 2011.

If I lived around the Austin area, I wouldn't have made this thread as I would've never known. Alas, that doesn't apply to me or my family

Nonetheless, I thank you for participating in this thread.

We are all worse off having had these goddamn tollway in Texas.

I told this story on the old board a while ago.  I can personally vouch for the demand letter dollar amount I list below as I saw the letter wtih my own eyes.  The rest of the story was told to me by the co-worker who this happened to, so take that part with a grain of salt.  The conversation I had w/ Alex was in 2013

around 2008/09  economy is tanking, my coworker- Alex (and I) are in sales, things havent been going well the last 2 years, Alex has badly missed his quota and getting basically half pay. He lives right near the Lakeline mall, and has the choice of taking Toll 45 to Round Rock, or take the 15 minute detour to not take the toll and take 620 to i35.

So he's been taking the toll and misses a payment one month so they hit him with the extra fees and charges and he says hes got a $500 bill due month 2- and he claims that $400 of that was legit tolls he earned.  But Alex cant pay the $500, as he said, its either pay the toll or pay the car note.

So he calls the Toll people, works out a payment plan, pays $200 up front and manages to pay another $350 over the next 6 months.  He stops using the toll road cold.   And Sales dont pick up for Alex, in fact they get worse and after 6 months so Alex cant afford to make the monthly payments anymore, so he stops.

Toll company keeps harassing him, but he ignores it because 1. he cant pay anymore anyway, and 2. He assumes that he's paid more than the $500 bill, (of which $100 was fee/penalty anyway), plus' he's paid the additional fees to the tune of another $50 over the next 6 months.    Finally as he says, its been a year, Alex hasnt used the toll roads at all, and his wife opens a letter that says that while he's made payments, they didnt cover the $50/month late fee they charged him for each month, plus they have charged him whatever outrageous interest rate they claim is owed, and now, they had an attorney send the demand letter, and they have added the attorney fee into the amount due- and the interest clock is running hard. its over $1500 - he cant pay that, he still is barely making quota.

So he does what anyone else does who gets a nutso bill and cant even remotely consider paying it.  It goes in File 13.

Now its sometime in late 2013, Alex has had a good run, finally destroyed his number and gotten a decent bonus, getting him out of the debt hole for everything except that pesky Toll bill.  This is where I personally get to see the letter in question.  He finally hits up the toll company and says he wants to work out a final close the books payment and to send him the bill.

Its a no bullshit $23,xxx.xx demand letter   I only remember the $23k part, no idea what the rest of the numbers were.   Which is why Alex and I are talking about it because he's just opened the letter and made a sound like a wounded animal at his desk.   He knew he was getting hit with fees, but now his original $400 actual toll bill, of which he paid more than $550 on more than 3 years ago (maybe 4) has exploded into more than $20k due.   Over the next month or so he calls and works with the toll attorneys to work out a settlement.   I dont remember the exact number but Alex admitted cutting a check for more than $3k to get the toll company off his ass .

Even the $500 payday loan scam team dont have a situation where a $500 debt turns into a fake $23k debt in 5 years.   Hell it doesnt even turn into $3k in 5 years, but its perfectly legal for the toll company to do that.

We are going to get back to the above in a second. First, this was the second sentence of your OP “Any road taxes pay for should never EVER have a toll on it.“  You’re gonna have to translate that for me.

I understood it, he is saying that any road that our taxes paid for should not also have a toll collected to further fund them.

Will you have to pass any sort of English comprehension test  to get your US citizenship?

Considering we spend more than we take in do our taxes really pay for anything?
