I’ll check back in one day.  Have zero interest in watching Harden and Westbrook

That combination with Capella in the middle and some serviceable guys to take some open look shots could work.  Will your interest rise if they are winning and get a top 2 or 3 seed going into the playoffs?

Of course Westbrook will have to mesh with the team a bit but he and Harden have a history together.  Paul is over the hill or at least trending down so you have real talent replacing him.  Of course if Westbrook is cancer to the locker room or is worst Westbrook then you will be right.

Surely he wants to win enough to do the right things that will maximize the best of what Harden brings with his own massive skills.  But that might be hoping for too much.(even for a dispassionate DFW-ite just looking at the new intriguing Rockets situation from afar)

At least your GM/owner is making deals to win.(trying to win)

I am neutral on the deal.  I think we were fucked either way, with Paul or Westbrook.  I hate hero ball.

They both pass some though.  They both have great talent.  They both can be money in the clutch.  Having two, REAL, money guys is big.  Then you need your center who can defend, rebound, and score some from close range.  Depth that are contributors and defenders might make it work.  Not guys who go 0-15 from wide open 3-land in the playoffs though.  There is a need for some clutch shooting beyond Westbrook and Harden.  I'm intrigued with that duo plus Capella.

I hope it works out.  I am doubtful.  Don't think we had any great moves to make, so the trade does not make me mad or anything.  I am a casual fan of NBA anyway.  Have not been to a game since game 7 against the Knicks in 1994.

I'm a little excited, as I think this is the best team Westbrook has been on since he last played with Harden. All the teams of WB/KD featured just them as scorers and a bunch of defensive specialists. This team has a lot of shooters for him to pass to, and I think we will see a different Westbrook than what he was in OKC the past few years. I'm hoping that's enough for him to have an uptick in his impact on a team, but who knows. Should be fun either way. Him and Harden are good friends, so I think they will make it work.

ESPN's RPM projections have the Rockets with the best regular season record in the NBA. 53.7 wins and a 99% playoff probability.

the best NBA record is going to be higher than that. When was the last time the best record was below 54? How often?

2011-12 when the Bulls & Spurs finished with 50 wins but they only played 66 games that year because of the lockout...
1998-99 when the Spurs finished with 37 wins but teams only played 50 games that year because of the lockout...

The honest answer is the 1978-79 Washington Bullets had the best record in the NBA at 54-28.  I have no idea how often it has happened overall but I know it's rare as fuck.  I mean shit since 1980 there has been exactly one non-lockout shortened season which even featured a team with less than 60 wins and that was 2000-01 when the Spurs lead the league with a 58-24 season.  All other seasons have had 60 or more wins

My bigger concern is that Westbrook and Harden spend too much time at the clubs. Paul was probably a pretty decent leader and helped keep that shit to a minimum.

I for one prefer Eric Gordon coming off of the bench. In terms of scoring, Russ > CP3, so should be able to send EG to the bench where he will be much more effective for the Rockets. Of course you play him with the starting lineup in crunch time. If Danuel House starts in the regular season, hopefully he develops to the point where he won't be a liability in the playoffs.

yet no new Bigs

so the team becomes older, smaller, and crazier (RW).

But Gordon should be that much more open for his set up behind the arc with the two alphas demanding help(when they go 3 guard).  He should be more open than usual and at 30 has much more life in him for win now.
