This has to be a first, right?

Oakland Raiders star receiver Antonio Brown's mysterious foot injury is the result of extreme frostbite caused by a cryotherapy machine, a source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

Brown was not wearing appropriate footwear when he entered the cryotherapy chamber last month in France and burned his feet, leaving them frostbitten, according to the source.

The cause of Brown's injury was first reported by ProFootballTalk.

Brown, 31, has missed a significant portion of his first training camp with the Raiders and has not practiced since July 30, when he left the team to visit a foot specialist.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday that Brown was "gathering information" on the injury but did not say when the seven-time Pro Bowler would return.

A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter this past weekend that the injury is not believed to be long term.

Brown posted photo on Instagram last week that showed the soles of his feet blistering and peeling.

It's a good thing he's good at football, because he has the brain of a ham sammich.

To his credit, he was homeless in the streets of Miami by the age of 16. Good chance he’s dead or in jail if not for football.

No timetable for his return. I’m sure Gruden is thrilled. There are simple instructions when using cryotherapy. Follow them...

Yeah, maybe Amari Cooper was never going to work there, but Cooper just goes about his business, has a huge impact on the cowboys offense, doesn’t bicker when he isn’t getting the ball, and is clearly a lot more mature than AB. Not to mention he’s 4 or 5 years younger.

He isn’t the same caliber wr, but man, we’ll see if AB is worth the distraction without big ben.

No fucking way. I get cryo treatments 2-3 times a week you wear socks up to the knee and boots and gloves in a tank that dips usually to -145 to -150 degrees 3-4 min max I’ve made it to 4 a few times. No way did that come from cryo

Can't remember the guys name but a former NFL Dr. on twitter called BS on the frostbite and wrote a post about what he thinks it really is - some kind of infection.  And that it shouldn't take too long to heal but made the point that it's ridiculous an elite athlete (with the support staff they all have around them) let it get that bad.

His antics are out of control. That said, if he actually has evidence that he's safer in his preferred helmet (I seriously doubt it, but I suppose it's possible), wouldn't this be a totally justifiable cause to go to bat for? I'm admittedly unfamiliar with the case, I assume he's not arguing the one they want him to wear doesn't look cool or something like that

Your thinking is very rigid bro. You are assuming he wore socks and boots. He didn’t wear either. He’s an idiot and brought this on himself.

I was assuming it was more of a comfort thing, but that would make a little more sense. Either way, threatening to retire seems like a LITTLE bit of an over reaction lol. I would assume a newer model helmet would be safer than the older model he was wearing before.

He’s claiming the new helmet restricts his field of vision. Just clown car from start to finish.

NFL should call his bluff and see if he actually retires instead of wearing the new helmet.

They have to call his bluff. NFL safety experts declared the helmet unsafe. If they allow him to wear it and he gets concussions they would get destroyed in court.

"Brown, according to witnesses, typically glances at the screens of several tablets and his smart phone during meetings, distracting himself by engaging in activities which include perusing his bank accounts and "liking" photos on Instagram."

What is perusing your bank accounts?

Is Marquise doing this shit in Baltimore yet?

A fellow who used to cover the Steelers told me about being accosted at practice by AB's Twitter Man. It seems AB did not like what was said on Twitter by the writer who made a comment about practice. So AB sent his Twitter Man after the writer. From what I have heard nobody in the organization is upset that he is gone.

Having done cryo a handful of times, there are certain parts of your anatomy you should be more worried about front bite than your feet....
